Paul performs many miracles in Ephesus, including healings through handkerchiefs and aprons that touched his body. Some Jewish exorcists try to mimic Paul by invoking the name of Jesus over those with evil spirits, including the sons of Sceva. However, an evil spirit replies that it knows Jesus and Paul but not the exorcists, then overpowers and attacks them, leaving them wounded and naked. The event spreads fear among Jews and Greeks in Ephesus and increases the renown of Jesus. Many believers subsequently confess and destroy books of magic. As a result, the word of God increases greatly in influence.
