Candidate Notes: I commenced my career with a firm of Chartered Accountants in the
city. In 1982 I moved to Redbridge London Borough where I
commenced studying for a CIPFA qualification - gained in 1985.
During my time there I held a variety of roles, and progressed to
Principal Accountant. Moving to the Tendering District Council, I
was promoted to Chief Accountant in 1991. In 1999 I moved to The
Inner London Magistrates’ Courts Service (which became the
Greater London Magistrates Court Authority) as Financial Services
Manager. In 2005 the GLMCA was abolished and merged into Her
Majesty’s Court Service where I continued as the London Regional
Head of Finance from where I took a post in HQ in 2008 as Deputy
Manager of HMCS Fraud and Information Security Unit. In 2009 I
became the agency’s Head of Corporate Governance. On 31st May
2011 I took a voluntary departure package so I could pursue new
challenges. One of these challenges was to serve as School
Business Manager in a school supporting an area of high
deprivation. I feel I have recovered my finance operational
experience. I have spent the last almost two years working as a
Financial Services Manager in the Charity Sector. Which has
enabled me to move away from the pure public sector and continue
to gain hands on experience.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
I have an enthusiasm for my work, which I am keen to share with
those I work with. I would describe my key strengths to include:-
Ability to work in a team by encouraging colleagues to use their
initiative, but also assisting when gaps need to be filled.
Positive and even-tempered attitude - I am able to remain calm
when faced with difficult situations. Because of my positive attitude I
believe I am liked and respected by colleagues
Thorough accounting knowledge and full experience of government
and charity finance
My CV demonstrates that I have now had extensive experience of
being involved extensively in change.
