- A: OneDrive is your “c” drive in the cloud, which gives you 15GB of free and secure storage for your files (photos, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, notebooks, PDFs, etc.) so that you can access from any of your devices. It is similar to Dropbox (2GB) or Google Drive (15GB). Your OneDrive account also gives you Microsoft Office Online for free: Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online and OneNote Online, plus Email, Calendar and Contacts. OneNote is the application (or program) for creating digital notebooks. Your notebooks need to be stored somewhere. If you want a notebook to be accessible on all devices, it must be stored in the Cloud either one OneDrive (your personal cloud storage) or SharePoint (internal corporate cloud). Here's another way to think about all of this: Similar to Word or Excel, OneNote is a software program. A OneNote notebook is similar to a Word document or Excel file that must be stored somewhere. OneDrive is your online c:/ drive where you can store your notebooks, documents and Excel files.
