Brian Slocum is a meteorologist for WXII in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has been covering weather for the station for 11 years, reporting on hurricanes, winter storms, and tornadoes. As a child, Brian was fascinated by severe weather and would ride his bike toward approaching storms. He earned degrees in geography and broadcast meteorology. Before joining WXII, he forecast weather for radio, magazines, and had his own telephone weather service. WXII provides continually updated online and television weather reports and information for local and national audiences.

About Brian Slocum
The WXII 12 Weather Team, in Winston-Salem, NC, welcomed Brian Slocum in 2005.
In his past eleven years, Brian has covered everything from hurricanes, to winter storms, to
tornadoes.
Brian’s love for weather traces back to his younger years. When he was eight years old,
playing outside, he noticed the eerie change of color in the sky. Instead of going indoors, like
most would, he got on his bike and rode toward the approaching storm. Fortunately, he was
stopped by his father because the storm turned into a tornado not far from his home. Ever since
then, Brian has been infatuated by severe weather.
Later, Brian walked away with a degree in geography from the University of Illinois. A
few years later, he went back to school and earned a degree in broadcast meteorology from
Mississippi State University. Before Brian even began his TV career, he did everything from
providing forecasts for radios and magazines, to having his own telephone weather service for
the Baltimore metropolitan area. Before coming to WXII-TV, Brian worked for WMDT-TV
(Salisbury, Md.), and stations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
WXII provides online and television sources for local and national news and weather
reports. Their website is continuously being updated with more information as it comes in. WXII
has a huge team that works to report accurate, and reasonably-timed information. They have
recently been carried on cable in areas outside of the Greensboro television market
