Project Details
The Package 3 – Port Landside Contract is part of the overall Roy Hill
Project which includes a new iron ore mine at the Roy Hill deposit, a mine
process plant, a heavy haul railway system from mine to port and new port
facilities at Boodarie Industrial Estate, south west of Port Hedland, Western
Australia.
With a targeted construction program of 22 months, the scope for this
project consists of all earthworks and civil works necessary to develop the
landside facilities at the Roy Hill Port. Works include construction of car
dumpers, screen buildings, stock yard facilities, rail loop and the rail
terminal yard.
The scope of work included in this project was:
Clearing & Grubbing.
Topsoil removal and reuse.
Ground improvement (rock displacement).
Construction of 5km of Rail and Road embankment over soft ground
and tidal areas.
Rock armour and flexible concrete mattress protection to embankment
slopes in tidal area.
Construction of stockyard 1.5km x 0.5km over soft ground and tidal
areas.
Rail embankment construction (to top of Sub-Ballast capping).
Stockyard pavement construction.
Stacker-Reclaimer rail works.
Construction of site access roads.
Culverts and storm water drainage.
Car dumper structural works.
Site dewatering.
