Ed Parsons of Google presents an Emergency Location Service (ELS) that sends a mobile phone's location directly to emergency operators during a 911 call. ELS uses Google's Fused Location Provider to determine location more quickly and accurately than traditional methods, with accuracy often within 17 meters. It has already provided over 10,000 emergency locations per day in tests in the UK. Parsons invites interested parties to contact him or visit a website to learn how to configure endpoints to receive emergency location data from Android devices.
