long-standing result, we show that detecting an infrequent target in a dual-task paradigm actually
improves memory encoding for a concurrently presented word, above and beyond the performance
reached in the full-attention condition. This absolute facilitation was obtained in 2 perceptual implicit
tasks (lexical decision and word fragment completion) but not in a conceptual implicit task (semantic
classification). In the case of recognition memory, the facilitation was relative, bringing accuracy in the
divided attention condition up to the level of accuracy in the full attention condition. The findings follow
from the hypothesis that the attentional boost effect reflects enhanced visual encoding of the study
stimulus consequent to the transient orienting response to the dual-task target.

the squares and to focus only on encoding the pictures. When
memory for the pictures was later tested in a four-choice recogni-
tion task, Swallow and Jiang (2010) found that in the DA condi-
tion, the images encoded together with the target squares (i.e.,
corresponding to the press response) were recognized significantly
better than were those encoded with the distractor squares (the
attentional boost effect). In the FA condition, in which the partic-
ipants made no response to the squares, no attentional boost effect

While adults often experience lasting language impairment from early strokes, infants often show remarkable recovery. However, the role of the cerebellum in this recovery is not well understood. The study will analyze MRI scans of 42 individuals who suffered early strokes and 26 siblings without injury. It will correlate the volume of cerebellar regions to language outcomes, hypothesizing that greater atrophy in specific cerebellar areas will predict poorer language skills. Findings could influence rehabilitation strategies after early brain damage.
This study examines how speech sounds are processed in the human auditory system using a meta-analytic approach. The key findings are:
1) Processing of phonemes (short speech elements) is localized to the left mid-superior temporal gyrus (STG), while processing of words is localized more anteriorly in the left STG.
2) The left mid-STG shows adaptation effects consistent with invariant representation of phonemic content, while more anterior regions of the STG respond to later components of multi-segment sounds.
3) Areas along the auditory ventral stream show increasing specialization for speech sounds and invariant representations of phonetic forms in a hierarchical fashion.

Participants predicted they would recall fewer words from the perceptual interference condition, even though they actually recalled more words from that condition. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
