Vehicles Unplugged” conference. The 2009 Electric Vehicles Unplugged: A 360 Degree Vision of the Future session
was a huge success with all Industry Stakeholders - Government, OEMs, Suppliers Infrastructure companies and
Major Fleet Managers coming together to debate in a strong business environment and helping with
implementation of some key policies and programs.
This year, the “Electric Vehicles Unplugged” conference will have a special focus on two very important hot topics
being discussed and deliberated in the Electric Vehicle Industry: The Emergence of New Business Models
and Developments in Infrastructure.
New Business Models:
““The cost of the battery for an Electric car today is around US$650 - 800/kWh battery. If this price is applied to a
25KWh battery, the cost of the battery can be equivalent to the price of the car itself which means that OEMs need to
provide a unique package to customers demonstrating its ROI.The cost itself must include the total cost of ownership of
the vehicle over a 3 to 5 year period in order to attract customers. Industry experts expect that 3 in 4 Electric Vehicles
will be sold with new business models with packages on offer similar to those in the Telecom industry where customers
pay a monthly tariff based on a flexible contract.”
EV Infrastructure:
“With up to 1.1million Electric Vehicles expected to be sold in Europe by 2015 and 2011 being the year that Europe’s
traditional automotive OEMs will significantly increase their EV production, a fully trialled, tested and proven charging
infrastructure network must be in place by 2011. It is expected that the required ratio of vehicles to charging stations (both
private and public) will be 1:4 in the first year of EV adoption and 1:2.5 by the fifth year, meaning that by 2015
approximately 2.75million charging stations will be needed across Europe. The implementation of fast charging stations is
also another hot topic being widely discussed in the industry. Cities across Europe are taking different approaches to
infrastructure developments and a wide array of industries are involved creating new partnerships between OEMs,
Governments, Utility Companies and Charging Station Manufacturers.”
Electric Vehicles Unplugged 2010 will bring together key decision makers across the industry to provide unique
insights into the structure of new business models and their implications to industry stakeholders. The emergence
of the “Integrator” will also be debated whose role is paramount in managing the diverse service offering to
customers through strategic partnerships with the many industry players. It will also allow attendees to
understand the position that key industry players are taking towards infrastructure and to debate the pro’s and
con’s of different solutions in development across Europe.

Ayoul Grouvel joined PSA Peugeot Citroën in 2008 as Peugeot Network Strategy Director and now is head of the
EV and PHEV departments for the 2 Brands. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years with the Fiat Group as
first Product Manager for Peugeot 156, then Marketing Director in Ireland followed by Germany, General Sales
Manager for the Fiat Brand Eastern Europe and finally as Vice-President International Sales for Lancia Brand. Half
French, half Scottish, his career lead him to live in six different countries the past 15 years : France, UK, Ireland,
Ayoul Grouvel Germany, Italy, Poland. His graduation at the European Business School in London, Frankfurt and Paris was followed
Head of Electric Vehicles by a M.sc at Ecole Centrale de Paris.
PSA Peugeot Citroen
Anthony Bernbaum is the Head of Global Special Opportunities within Principal Investments. He joined HSBC in
2003 and latterly was Global Co-Head of the Financial Institutions Group within Global Banking. He graduated
from Cambridge University in 1987 with a BA Hons in Economics and received an MBA with distinction from
Insead business school in 1991. Between 1992 and 1998 Anthony worked at Barings in their corporate finance arm,
followed by six years at Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director in investment banking. In 2000/1 he was acting
chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs European Investment Bank. During his career he has worked on a number

Diana Blake worked in the conservation industry in Botswana and then moved to Morocco to work for National
Geographic, before joining BMW in Pretoria in 1988. Diana initially worked at the Rosslyn production plant in an

for the import of built-up cars to South Africa. She then moved to the BMW head office in Midrand, working in
the Marketing Department as product manager, where she introduced and managed various portfolios. In 2004, she
was appointed as General Manager for MINI South Africa, where she was responsible for increasing sales by 200%

Maarten Cassée is the Manager for Asset Management within Stedin, a local network management company with
approximately two million customers. Maarten is responsible for planning infrastructure performance, network
planning and development, Innovation and Asset Data Quality particularly focussing on catering for electric vehicles
in Holland. Prior to joining Stedin, Maarten worked for ProRail Railinfra management in Rotterdam, responsible
for the safety and reliability of the local infrastructure, and started his career with Energy NorthWest (now part
Maarten Cassée of Liander) in Amsterdam.

Tony Posawatz currently serves as Vehicle Line Director for the Chevrolet VOLT and Global Electric Vehicle
Development within General Motors. Since his appointment to this position in March 2006, Tony has led the
development of the highly-acclaimed VOLT concept car and continues to lead the development of the 2011MY
production VOLT. Tony has also served as a GM vehicle Line director for the past eleven years compiling in this
time an impressive record of successful, award winning and innovative products such as the Cadillac Escalade and
Chevrolet Avalanche. In Tony’s 25 years at GM, his teams have amassed seven General Motors Chairman’s Honors

Richard Canny was appointed CEO of Think in October, 2008. He joined Think as President and COO in August
2008. His deep automotive experience includes 25 years with Ford Motor Company, including key leadership roles
as President – Ford South America and Director of Global Strategic Planning. He brings hands-on automotive
experience from all the world’s major automotive regions to Think and has managed each functional area during
Richard Canny his career.

Nick Ford has worked closely with business planning, providing strategy guidance and market development support
throughout his career. In his previous role he was Product Planning Director at TRW with global responsibility for
their £3 billion automotive steering business providing strategy guidance for their electric steering products. Nick
has 9 years of automotive experience preceded by 23 years in Aerospace and Defence at British Aerospace and
Lucas. As well as holding senior management positions in these corporations, Nick has been MD of EMM
Computers, a technology start up company which exceeded $ 1 million turnover in its first year of operation.

Nancy Lee Gioia is Ford Motor Company’s director of Global Electrification. Nancy directs strategy and planning
for the next generation of Ford’s global electric vehicle portfolio, touching all aspects of electrified transportation,
including product planning, supplier partnerships and collaboration with the energy industry and government.
Prior to taking her current role, Nancy was Ford’s director of Sustainable Mobility Technology and Hybrid Vehicle
Programs for North America, Director of Current Model Vehicle Quality for North America and has held several
Nancy Gioia key management and executive positions within Ford Product Development. In July 2001, she received the All Star
Director, Global Electrification Award from Automotive News and in 2005 she was named as one of the Automotive News “100 Leading Women
Ford Motor Company in the Auto Industry.”
Robin Haycock is working within Government in the newly formed Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV). He
is seconded from industry to the Dept BIS and specialises in the automotive sector. His current role is to be a
part of delivering the programme to realise government's vision of "placing the UK at the global forefront of ultra-
low carbon vehicle development, demonstration, manufacture and use". Prior to this role, Robin began his career
Robin Haycock in the motor industry working for Jaguar Cars and then at specialist consultancies including Cosworth and AVL
Assistant Director, Dept. for Business (Austria) where he finished his auto career as Design and analysis manager for AVL in the UK. Robin moved from
OLEV the automotive sector into energy consulting and transport planning roles within Arup, and during this period he
has worked with a diverse range of clients to establish economic routes for sustainable transport in both retrofit
environments and new planned eco cities.
Sarwant is responsible for developing and implementing business strategy, fulfilment of high value consulting
projects as Project Leader and developing content strategy for Frost & Sullivan’s European Transportation Practice.
He is also the global leader in developing Frost & Sullivan’s Growth Strategy Workshop capabilities. Since joining
Frost & Sullivan in March 1999, Sarwant has managed over 150 strategic consulting projects in the Automotive and

Oliver Weinmann is responsible for the Innovation Management of the Vattenfall Europe AG. This comprises
