This document provides an overview of cross-platform measurement and Nielsen's solutions for measuring advertising campaigns across television, desktop, mobile and other digital platforms. It discusses how Nielsen Arianna and Digital Ad Ratings can be fused to measure who saw an ad online, on TV or heard it on radio, and how the different mediums overlap. Total Ad Ratings is introduced as a tool that provides de-duplicated, cross-platform metrics like reach, frequency and GRPs to evaluate advertising performance holistically across platforms. Case studies demonstrate how the data can be used for budget allocation and identifying incremental audiences.

Data-driven Marketing and Intellectual Property RightsCharles Mok
Data-driven marketing is evolving rapidly with growing martech budgets and new technologies like augmented reality and artificial intelligence revolutionizing digital marketing. Marketers are taking more creative work in-house and need to own the intellectual property in their campaigns. Additionally, being agile and responsive is key as customer experience and data have become central to operations. The value of customer data and need to protect trade secrets and intellectual property is increasing in the digital marketing landscape. Marketers should consult IP lawyers to protect their rights as intellectual property assets grow with new technologies.

Hi, I’m Alex.
I’ve been in the biz for 20 years but 5 Years ago I founded a digital agency called SOON_
We help businesses to grow and succeed through digital design, software and marketing
Here’s some of the people who work there
I thought I’d quickly explain what I mean by digital
“Digital” is very broad. Essentially all businesses are digital to some degree these days.
So you guys chose a good degree!
Now, let’s talk about how you might go about getting a job in the digital space.
1. You don’t have to get a job
…Well, you do sort of. But there are ways in that may be you haven’t thought about:
Apprenticeships - there are tech & digital apprenticeships available - Whitehat - whitehat.org.uk (there’s a digital apprenticeship offered by TH_NK, one of the UK’s biggest digital agencies).
Seed Accelerators - we work with antler.co who will let you pitch your business idea, if accepted pay you £2k a month to live on, give you access to mentors, hook you up with co-founders from different skills and if you pitch you get £1m in seed in return for 10% of your business
2. If you’re going to intern, you have to really stand out.
I must get 500+ internship requests a year.
If you’re going to try and intern, then ask yourself 2 things:
could I just apply for a junior full time role? In which case why are you interning?
if you’re going to apply, you need to be in the Top 2 or 3 of that 500…which means you need to stand out
How can you do that?
3. Do something interesting
If you want to get in to digital, showing you can use the medium is very attractive.
Things that you may just do, are things that a lot of companies are still rubbish at:
using social media well
writing
understanding online communities
understanding how people behave online
understanding differences in online culture in different countries (china! india!)
knowing the history of the web
Just being young and plugged in has intrinsic value. Don’t forget that.
4. It’s easier than ever to make something yourself
If you can make something…make a squarespace for your mates’ band, start selling t-shirts on Shopify, do some blogging, promote a coffee shop…whatever you’re in to.
Go in with something to talk about that isn’t just be your written CV.
You can demo your skills and learn something at the same time.
Number 5
A degree is great, because you gain knowledge.
But don’t underestimate the skills you learn too.
Employers buy both.
I’m going to read you a list of things that you can get out of a University degree that you can bring to LITERALLY ANY JOB:
Being passionate
Critical or analytical thinking
Being organised
Having a good positive energy
Communicating well
Taking direction
Working hard
Hitting deadlines
As an employer, these are all things I look for as much as individual knowledge or talent.
Number 6 - networking.
I will give you the secret to networking:
Help people out and don’t ask for anything in return. They’ll remember you.
There’s nothing more useful in any industry than building a network. Get your LinkedIn page set up. Save business cards. Share what you’re doing.
Getting a job - or indeed most things in life - is a numbers game.
Answer lots of job ads. You might need to apply to 100 jobs to get 20 interviews to get one job you want.
Go to interviews even if you’re not that in to the job because it’s great practice in learning to sell yourself.
Relax and try to enjoy it.
Number 8 - read!
Woody Allen said “90% of success is just turning up”
In which case the other 10% is reading.
Knowing about what’s going on in the world - news, culture, politics - helps you to make informed opinions and decisions.
It helps create a more rounded person and will give you confidence in going for roles where you don’t necessarily fit every little requirement…yet.
Number 9 - try not to get discouraged.
It’s a hard market out there, but guess what - it’s always been a hard market.
The best advice I can give you is stick with it.
If you don’t get it, you don’t get it…sometimes employers have an off day or it wasn’t the right time.
It doesn’t mean you’re shit.
Number 10 - follow SOON_BYTES
Every day we post insights in to our industry, top tips and further reading.
It’s basically free info.
