  3. Most people think so.Firstly, its not advertising cause it’s a 2 way channelSecondly, its not a place where brands do the talking but it’s a place where people do the talking. Eg: AppleLastly don’t consider this medium as an independent channel. Social Media cant survive without offline promotion. It’s a support media. Not a media by itself.Social media is offline driven
  4. Not reallyYour hairdresser doesn’t need a facebook page nor your laundry man or dry cleaners. No matter how much they showcase yourself, your customers will consider this as useless and will easily hide the page from the stream.
  5. Wrong! Your brand will be kicked out if you advertise on Social media.When people interact with other people, they consider your update as spam if you try to promote and will hide you from their stream.Bring interesting posts on your wall, and you might intimidate some people to comment right away!If you most very frequently, you might have people leaving your page as well.You post too less people might consider your inactiveAlways talk as a guide. And consider your audience smarter, and talk to them as a friend not a brand.
  6. Not all, in fact most of them go down the drain.The post with the highest comments stay as top news.No post go to everybody, but if re-shared, by even one person who found interest in the post, then it gets viral
  7. Stop Claiming you have a page with 80,000 followers. It makes no use if not even 10% of it is interactive. Imagine a page with 500 followers and 75% active. And for that, you need to have great product as well. Usually the FMCG products tend to have a large following
  8. Brands do their best to engage online but spend a lot of money trying to brand apps. Consumers do not care about the brand but care only bout the value derieved. If another brand is offering better, they will simply dump your Mega Branded ApplicationCreate application that sell your product or else you will make the app as your product
  9. Most people think striking a conversation with the online audience is easy, which in fact is not true. And the following reason makes it costlier but since Indian companies do not think they need to pay more for it, then tend to create applications instead where agencies try to cover up costs of the social media expert.The below is the processThe conversation is identified.The expert makes background checks on the person – you can call it stalking but it is required to understand how to talk to this person online.The above takes 2 mins and then the person starts with an initial conversation with the person. Apart from this the expert needs to have deeper knowledge of the indian people on twitter and facebook, they are a complete different audience in both the places. Twitter has evolved to a place of influential category whereas facebook is still fun. Consider this statement when you talk in various networks.LinkedIn is a for people who you know, Facebook is a place for people who you knew and Twitter is a place for people who you want to know!
  10. Technology changes every week and so does social media. Today might be facebook and twitter but new networks such as foursquare and quora are picking up really fast. Most clients require to see a fixed plan yearly and monthly, sometimes weekly. This doesn’t work here. It will only work where your doing the talking i.e advertising. But here, as I said earlier, its people and your audience that helps you decide what strategy is required for that month. Its not the brand that decides cause its entirely based on the product.
  11. You do not need a class. You need to join a group online and meet them at regular intervals offline. That’s how you learn
  12. You need one person to be a social media expert. Notice the green $ for effectiveness. More adds chaos and duplicity, but its realy hard to find one person who is really good at it.
  13. No, its all about using other medium to leverage a brand. Its about using free resources online like how im using now!Social Media is a support medium to handle customer reactions arising out of other promotional mediums
