The document is a report on the 2014 World Giving Index, which analyzes charitable giving behaviors around the world. Some key findings:
- The United States and Myanmar share the top spot in the Index, with the US scoring highest across all three behaviors and Myanmar driven by high donations related to Buddhist traditions.
- Giving behaviors are impacted by events like natural disasters, as seen by Malaysia's rise in rankings after helping neighbors affected by a typhoon.
- Helping strangers continues to be the behavior growing most worldwide, especially in developing countries, highlighting personal interactions in philanthropy.
- Youth unemployment may be impacting declines in donating money globally, though women donate more than men
The document summarizes the key findings of the 2021 CAF World Giving Index report, which analyzes global trends in generosity and giving behavior. Some of the main findings include:
- Indonesia ranked as the most generous country in the world with a score of 69, up from its 2018 ranking. More than 80% of Indonesians donated money and volunteering rates were over 3 times the global average.
- Many traditionally top-ranked countries like the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, and Netherlands saw significant score decreases and fell out of the top 10. Newer top 10 countries included Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, and Kosovo.
- Countries like Australia and New Zealand also experienced score declines, as giving opportunities decreased
The World Giving Index report found that in 2012:
1) The United States reclaimed the top spot in the World Giving Index rankings due to the high proportion of Americans reporting that they helped a stranger.
2) Giving levels increased globally in 2012 compared to 2011, despite slower global economic growth.
3) Myanmar saw the highest rate of people donating to charity and was a new top 20 entrant due to 85% of its population reporting donating in the past month.

Myanmar tops the CAF World Giving Index for the first time, securing the top spot for volunteering time as well as maintaining its first place ranking for donating money. At a global level, donating money is up since last year, though the actual number of people giving has decreased due to lower participation rates in large countries like India and China. For the first time since 2008, men are now slightly more likely than women to donate money globally.
The CAF World Giving Index is the world’s leading study of global generosity. It is based on surveys carried out in 145 countries throughout last year which ask people (aged 15 and over) whether they have donated money, volunteered time or helped a stranger in the past month. By measuring these three basic kinds of giving we get a simple, but universally understood, picture of generosity across the world.
Demographic trends show significant growth in seniors and visible minorities, while the number of children and youth is declining. This will impact community issues like education, homelessness, addictions, and poverty. The workforce is also aging and participation rates will fall, reducing the tax base. For non-profits, funding may decrease as government and philanthropic resources are stretched to address these social challenges in a more diverse population. Charities will need to find new ways of raising revenues.
This document discusses National Philanthropy Day, which is celebrated across Canada and North America on November 15th. It provides statistics on charitable donations and volunteering in Canada. Canada would be an ideal host for the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to its progressive culture, treatment of minorities and women, and history of inclusiveness. Canada has highly diverse population, with over 20% being foreign-born, and is welcoming to immigrants and refugees. It also strongly supports LGBT rights and was the 4th country to legalize same-sex marriage. Further, women have equal opportunities and rights in Canada, and experienced record representation in parliament in 2015. These progressive social policies paired with Canada's passion for sports makes it a culturally appropriate choice to host the 2026 World Cup.
This document summarizes Africa's annual financial losses to the rest of the world compared to financial inflows. Key points:
- Africa loses $192 billion annually through outflows like multinational company profits ($46.3B), debt payments ($21B), and tax avoidance ($35.3B).
- Financial inflows to Africa total $134 billion, resulting in a net annual loss of $58 billion for the continent.
- The amounts lost far exceed international aid received, which is less than $30 billion per year. For every $100 in aid, $640 is lost through outflows.
- Continued losses at this rate will drain $580 billion from Africa in the next decade alone

Canada would be a suitable host for the 2026 FIFA World Cup based on its cultural values of freedom, respect, equality and diversity. Canada has a large immigrant population and is known for its welcoming treatment of immigrants and foreign visitors. It also has a strong commitment to gender equality, LGBT rights, and cultural diversity. Additionally, Canada has a large sport culture, especially around hockey but also soccer, and was successful in hosting previous women's World Cup tournaments. Fossil fuel consumption — and emissions — are at record highs
Countries burnt record amounts of oil and coal last year, sending global fossil fuel consumption and emissions to all-time highs, the Energy Institute reported. Oil demand grew 2.6 per cent, surpassing 100mn barrels per day for the first time.
Meanwhile, the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix declined slightly by half a percentage point, but still made up more than 81 per cent of consumption.

Causes Supporting Charity for Elderly PeopleSERUDS INDIA
Around 52% of the elder populations in India are living in poverty and poor health problems. In this technological world, they became very backward without having any knowledge about technology. So they’re dependent on working hard for their daily earnings, they’re physically very weak. Thus charity organizations are made to help and raise them and also to give them hope to live.

2. Myanmar
A massive 91 percent of people in Myanmar report that they have given money
to charity in the past year, a commitment that may be linked to practice of
Theravada Buddhism. In the country, it is common for locals to give money, food,
and other support to monks in order to help them live their ascetic lifestyles.
With a population of 39 million, Myanmar has the highest per-person giving ratio
of any country on this list.
3. United States
Despite the noise around the upcoming presidential election in the United
States, political tensions haven’t kept Americans divided from each other. But a
very high proportion of the population helps strangers (76%) with the US only
beaten on this by Liberia (78%) and Iraq (79%) and the high rates of
volunteerism are possibly connected to supporting a political candidate through
actions like phone-banking.
4. Australia
Aussies, coming in behind only Myanmar and Indonesia in amounts of per-person
giving to charity which proves they are clearly fond of opening their wallets. And
while the index only considers donations made in the same country the giver
lives in, the definition of "Australian" is changing as the country has pledged to
take in some 12,000 Syrian refugees.
5. New Zealand
It might not be a coincidence that New Zealand lands immediately after its
neighbor Australia on this list. As the World Giving Index notes, "Comprised
solely of Australia and New Zealand, Oceania is a conflict-free, economically
homogenous continent where barriers to giving will be lower than in many other
countries."
6. Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has emerged as one of the largest achievers on this year’s list, from the
shadow of a brutal civil war that ended in 2009. The country of 21 million scored
high marks for both community volunteerism and for kindness to strangers.
7. Canada
Being the world's second-largest country, Canada has been in the Global Index
top ten every year. However, this was its first year falling outside of the top 10
for individual charitable giving, but the country's score was reinforced by solid
numbers in volunteering and helping others.
8. Indonesia
The archipelago of Indonesia is up from 22nd place in last year's index to
seventh in this one. The survey was conducted in August, coinciding with the
holy month of Ramadan, where it's customary to donate to charity.
9. United Kingdom
Brexit? This year's survey was conducted before the United Kingdom voted to
leave the European Union, so it's not clear if the big change will affect the
country's status when it comes to charity. Right now, 69 percent of Britishers
said they donated money to charity over the past year and 33 percent did some
volunteering.
10. Ireland
It's not only Irish eyes that are smiling. Ireland got high marks for kindness to
strangers, which undoubtedly contributes to the country's successful tourism
industry. When it comes to giving money, the Irish are the eighth most generous
in the world but the proportion of those willing to help strangers has fallen,
making it the 37th most stranger-friendly country.
11. United Arab Emirates
The oil-rich United Arab Emirates doesn't only use its wealth to build ornate
opera houses and extravagant skyscrapers in Dubai. The country makes its first-
ever appearance in the top ten this year, after coming in 14th in 2015.
