Case study
A 35-year-old man had been feeling unwell for a few days with non-
specific aches and pains in his joints and a slight headache. The following
day he felt considerably worse, with severe colicky abdominal pain and
he developed bloody diarrhoea, going to the lavatory 10 times in the day
and persisting overnight. He then went to the accident and emergency
department at hospital where he was admitted. Because he was
dehydrated he was given intravenous rehydration and blood and faeces
samples were sent for culture. Infection with Campylobacter jejuni was
suspected as his history revealed that he had consumed a chicken
mayonnaise sandwich which he thought was “a bit odd”. Some weeks
later he began to develop weakness in his feet, which gradually spread to
his legs and after more days the paralysis affected his leg muscles. With
treatment, these symptoms gradually resolved.

Answer questions 1-2 based on the following scenarios:
Q1: Fred, a 65-year-old obese man with a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension presents to the GP practice for a follow-up appointment. During the consultation, he asks whether there is a better medication to glicazide and metformin, his oral hypoglycemic medications, which he has been taking to control his blood sugar. His friend has recently been put on a newer oral hypoglycemic medication (Liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 analogue), which has been shown to help with weight management in patients with diabetes and obesity. Fred has been finding it very difficult to lose weight for a few years now as he has tried various lifestyle modifications. He asks whether the new oral hypoglycemic medications could be an option for him in weight reduction.
Task [2 marks]
a. Write a focused research question for this particular problem that will help you organise a search of the literature for an answer (use the PICO elements as appropriate).
b. Identify the PICO elements in your research question
Q2: In the past 2 years, as an Infectious Disease Specialist in one of the tertiary hospitals in Australia, you have attended to 23 migrant patients who were referred by their General Practitioners with symptoms not typical of pulmonary tuberculosis. After taking a detailed history and performing appropriate physical examinations, as well as reviewing a range of relevant investigations, you clinically diagnosed and microbiologically confirmed that those patients have multi-drug resistance pulmonary tuberculosis (MDR-TB). The Public Health Department was notified of disease and the patients were managed accordingly. Now, you and some colleagues from Western Sydney University want to investigate the risk factors for MDR-TB.

- Kierkegaard believed that morality ultimately stems from God's commands, holding an unrestricted divine command theory. However, he also thought God's commands could only be known through personal faith and revelation, not reason alone.
- He argued that without faith, ethics loses its absolute authority. But faith is a personal, subjective relationship with God, not an objective system.
- Kierkegaard's view therefore incorporated elements of both restricted (faith-based) and unrestricted (God as sole source of morality) divine command theory

1. Week 5 Assignment - Case Study: Statistical Forecasting
Dr. Megan Zobb, a key researcher within the North Luna University Medical Center, has been studying a new variant of a skin disease virus that seems to be surfacing among the North Luna University population. This variant (which has been tentatively named Painful Rash or PR), leads to the formation of surface lesions on an individual's body. These lesions are very similar to small boils or isolated shingles sores. These PR lesions are not necessarily clustered as shingles lesions are, but are isolated across the body.
Insights From Initial Interviews
Megan is initiating some efforts at a preliminary analysis. She has seen 20 initial patients and made several observations about the skin disease. She wants to analyze this initial data before structuring and recommending a more encompassing study.
The signs and symptoms of this disorder usually affect multiple sections of the patient's body. These signs and symptoms may include:
· Pain, burning, numbness or tingling, but pain is always present.
· Sensitivity to touch.
· A red rash that begins a few days after the pain.
· Fluid-filled blisters that break open and crust over.
· Itching.
Some people also experience:
· Fever.
· Headache.
· Sensitivity to light.
· Fatigue.
Pain is always the first symptom of PR. For some, it can be intense. Depending on the location of the pain, it can sometimes be mistaken for a symptom of problems affecting the heart, lungs, or kidneys. Some people experience PR pain without ever developing the rash. The degree of pain that the individual experiences is seemingly proportional to the number of lesions.
Dr. Zobb is extremely concerned that this new variant is especially challenging to the younger population, who are active and like to be outdoors. She has asked you as an analyst and statistician for some assistance in analyzing her initial data. She is not a biostatistician, so she requests that you explain the process you use and your interpretation of the results for each task.
Initial Data Analysis
Dr. Zobb has accumulated some data on an initial set of 20 patients across multiple age groups. She believes that the data suggests younger individuals are affected more than others. She wants you to complete the tasks shown here based on the data below.
For each of the following, provide a detailed explanation of the process you used along with your interpretation of the results. Submit the response in a Word document and attach your Excel spreadsheet to show your calculations (where applicable). Be sure to number each response (e.g., 1.a, 1.b,…).
1. Develop an equation to model the data using a regression analysis approach and explain your calculation process in Excel.
1. Calculate the r-square statistic using Excel. Interpret the meaning of the r-square statistic in this case.
1. Determine three conclusions that address the initial observations and are supported by the regression analysis.

Introduction
The world today is faced with very dangerous infectious diseases due to antibiotic resistance and in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has named this escalating antibiotic resistance as one of the top five threats in the country (CDC, 2017). According to statistics from the CDC, drug-resistant bacteria cause more than 20, 000 deaths annually and result to 2 million cases of disease recurrence annually (Lagier et al., 2015). For this reason, there is an increased need to make changes to the clinical practice to encourage appropriate use of antibiotics. In late 2014, the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) published a report on how to combat.
The document discusses the pros and cons of government shutdowns. It begins by mentioning the 2013 government shutdown due to disagreements between Congress parties. There is now the possibility of another shutdown. Government shutdowns have both positive and negative impacts. Positively, they can force compromise between political parties. However, they also disrupt important government services and delay payments. Overall, shutdowns tend to have more costs than benefits.

Final Exam
Spend up to the next 2 hours to complete the following task, to the best of your ability. This exam is worth 100 points. There is no specific word count requirement.
Topic: Vitamin C - https://vitamincfoundation.org/squares/
Your submission should be in the form of written paragraphs, but you will not be evaluated on the quality of writing beyond the minimum necessary to understand what you are communicating. Your submission does not need to be as structured as the analysis assignments submitted during the semester. You should answer parts 1-5 of the task individually, each in paragraph form. Number each answer to correspond to parts 1-5, and then references at the end.
1. In one paragraph, summarize the product or service and describe what it is supposed to do.
2. In one paragraph, identify and clearly state at least one scientific claim being made about the product or service.
3. Identify and clearly describe at least two sources that are purported to support the claim. Each source should be described in a single paragraph (i.e., two paragraphs total). You must provide references for these sources (as well as any other that you use to complete the other tasks) at the end of your document, in the same format that you have been using throughout the semester.
4. Briefly evaluate the quality of the sources and whether or not the sources appear to support the claim. This section may be anywhere from one to several paragraphs long, as needed.
◦ State whether or not you believe the claim is justified, correct, and/or relevant based on your overall evaluation. This evaluation must take into account the sources you identified and evaluated (in steps 3 and 4).
◦ You may utilize sources that do not support the claim in your overall evaluation (i.e., sources in addition to the two from step 3).
◦ Your evaluation should explicitly consider at least two logical fallacies. These may be fallacies that you believe are present, or ones that could have been an issue but that you determined were not.
5. Based on your review of the product or service, summarize in one paragraph when use of the product or service might be beneficial: who might benefit and under what circumstances.
You are free to draw on prior knowledge, your textbook, and electronic resources, but should indicate when you have done so by using the same referencing methods utilized during the semester.

Course Description
(For students majoring in both science and nonscience disciplines.) A survey of the mechanisms of disease and their expression in major
organ systems of the human body. The goal is to use scientific reasoning to make informed decisions about matters related to human biology
and health. Topics include infections, cancer, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, stroke, malnutrition, poisoning by environmental toxins,
stress, inflammation, disorders of the immune system, and aging. Emphasis is on analysis of factors that cause disruption of healthy body
functions, leading to disease, and on prevention of disease through control of risk factors and early detection. Students may receive credit for
only one of the following courses: BIOL 301 or BIOL 398H.
Course Introduction
Human Health and Disease is an upper-level science course. You will learn about the human body and its structural components and
mechanisms that help the body maintain optimal working order. We will explore the relationship between the body's structure (anatomy) and
function (physiology), learning how the body works when it is healthy and what happens when it is affected by a disease.
We will learn to distinguish between healthy and diseased function of the various levels of organization in the body starting from the smallest
living units?cells?and moving on to tissues, organs, and organ systems. We will discuss how the coordination of metabolic activities at each
level benefits the body and explore how all parts of the body work together to maintain a stable internal environment that allows the body to
function properly within set limits.
We will then discuss general categories of diseases caused by pathogens, genetic defects, and environmental factors, and learn how a single
disease agent affects not just one organ, but ultimately causes disruption in the body's homeostasis. We will also explore diagnostic
procedures, treatment options, and potential outcomes of various diseases as they pertain to specific organ systems. We will learn to
recognize the risk factors leading to diseases and identi.
This case study involves a woman named Autumn who experienced increased urinary frequency and blood in her urine. She was initially diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and prescribed antibiotics, but her symptoms did not improve. Further testing revealed she had invasive transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder, which is linked to mutations in tumor suppressor genes p53 and pRb. TCC is an aggressive form of bladder cancer associated with a poor prognosis. Autumn will require chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The case study examines Autumn's condition in the context of concepts from chapters about cancer biology, including mutations, tumor suppressor genes, metastasis, and dysplasia.

In 2011, John Jones, a middle school social science teacher began .docxjoyjonna282
In 2011, John Jones, a middle school social science teacher began a unit on the American election process. He began with an introduction of political parties from the revolution to present day. At the end of the politically-balanced unit, students participated in mock debates as candidates from each party and ultimately held a mock presidential election in his classroom.
After the votes were counted and a winner determined, one of his students asked Mr. Jones who he was planning to vote for in the “real” election. He answered the question in age-appropriate language and, when prompted, explained why. He reminded his students that voting was not only a reflection of personal beliefs, but a responsibility as a citizen of the United States.
When Janie Johnson got home from school that day, she noticed – for the first time – signs in her neighbor's front yards supporting one of the presidential candidates. At dinner she asked her parents who they planned to vote for. Their choice differed significantly from her teacher’s. Janie’s father was quite upset at Janie’s explanation of the other candidate. To him, it was not Mr. Jones’ job as her teacher her to “put those kinds of ideas in her head.” The next day he called the principal demanding that Mr. Jones be removed from the classroom.
You are the principal.
1. What do you tell the father? Why?
2. What, if anything, do you say to Mr. Jones, the teacher? Why?
You are Mr. Jones.
1. Have you done anything wrong?
2. What court case(s) would you cite in your behalf? Be specific. Cite the case name, court ruling, or law.
Answer the following questions:
1. Who was Pickering and why is he important?
2. A teacher speaks out at a rally against FCAT. This is not the first “FIRE FCAT” rally held in this community. Can her statement be protected by the First Amendment? Under what circumstances?
3. A student sees a picture of math teacher James Johnson in his KKK garb that Johnson posts on his facebook page. Can Johnson be fired because of his KKK membership? Why or why not?
4. After their honeymoon Jane Jones and her new husband Jason return to their teaching jobs at JFK Middle School. At lunch that day the principal informs them that one of them must transfer to a new school. Can the principal do this? Why or why not?
Chapter 10 covers several topics, chief among which is teachers’ rights. There are three main court cases which address free speech:
· Pickering v. Board of Education
· Connick v. Myers
· Garcetti v. Ceballos
In order to respond to the questions, you will have to do some research on your own.Ask yourself this question: “Is the employee speaking as a private citizen or as an employee?”
Question 1 : What is the main difference between the Pickering decisions and the Garcetti decision? Where does the Connick decision fit in?
Question 2: A special education teacher complains to his principal that the school is violating federal law in trying to meet the n.

In 2010, plans were announced for the construction of an Islamic cultural center, named Cordoba House, in lower Manhattan in the vicinity of where the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center occurred. This announcement stirred up a storm of activity by groups and individuals supporting and opposing the proposal, and in early 2011, a plea by the American Center for Law and Justice was entered in the New York State Supreme Court to stop the construction. In this Discussion Board please respond to the following questions:
In 5–6 paragraphs, address the following:
What are the complaints and concerns of those who oppose construction of this building in its proposed location?
Do you agree? Why, or why not?
What are the counter-claims being made by those who support construction of this building in its present location?
Do you agree? Why, or why not?
What is the specific issue in the court case?
What activities (protests, letters to the editor, blog posts, petitions, opinion polls, etc.) are underway related to this issue? Explain.
Do you think these activities are likely to have an impact on the Court’s decision? Why, or why not?

In 2004 the Bush Administration enacted changes to the FLSA and the way overtime is paid. These changes are said to have impacted millions of working Americans. The Act addresses who and how overtime is paid. It is also felt that more changes are still needed.
Using an Internet search, find the enactment highlights of 2004 and future proposed changes. Who is impacted, positively or negatively? How do you feel this impacts you? Were these changes long overdue, or do you think this is just a way for workers to work more hours without the employer being responsible for premium pay?

In 2014 Virginia scientist Eric Betzig won a Nobel Prize for his research in microscope technology. Since receiving the award, Betzig has improved the technology so that cell functions, growth and even movements can now be seen in real time while minimizing the damage caused by prior methods. This allows the direct study of living nerve cells forming synapses in the brain, cells undergoing mitosis and internal cell functions like protein translation and mitochondrial movements.
Your assignment is to write a Python program that
graphically
simulates viewing cellular organisms, as they might be observed using Betzig’s technology. These simulated cells will be shown in a graphics window (representing the field of view through Betzig’s microscope) and must be animated, exhibiting behaviors based on the
“Project Specifications” below
. The simulation will terminate based on user input (a mouse click) and will include two (2) types of cells,
Crete
and
Laelaps

Crete
cells should be represented in this simulation as three (3) small green circles with a radius of 8 pixels. These cells move nonlinearly in steps of 1-4 graphics window pixels. This makes their movement appear jerky and random.
Crete
cells cannot move outside the microscope slide, (the ‘
field
’), so they may bump along the borders or even wander out into the middle of the field at times. These cells have the ability to pass “through” each other.
A single red circle with a radius of 16 pixels will represent a
Laelaps
cell in this simulation.
Laelaps
cells move across the field straight lines, appearing to ‘bounce’ off the field boundaries.
Laelaps
sometimes appear to pass through other cells, however this is an optical illusion as they are very thin and tend to slide over or under the other cells in the field of view.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

4. A 35-year-old man had been feeling unwell for a few days with
non-
specific aches and pains in his joints and a slight headache. The
following
day he felt considerably worse, with severe colicky abdominal
pain and
he developed bloody diarrhoea, going to the lavatory 10 times
in the day
and persisting overnight. He then went to the accident and
emergency
department at hospital where he was admitted. Because he was
dehydrated he was given intravenous rehydration and blood and
faeces
samples were sent for culture. Infection with Campylobacter
jejuni was
suspected as his history revealed that he had consumed a
chicken
mayonnaise sandwich which he thought was “a bit odd”. Some
weeks
later he began to develop weakness in his feet, which gradually
spread to
his legs and after more days the paralysis affected his leg
muscles. With
5. treatment, these symptoms gradually resolved.
Questions:
(Remember to use 12pt Times New Roman font, single line
spaced)
1. What was the likely source of infection in this case study?
What are the common
sources of Campylobacter jejuni infection that lead to human
infection?

Life Styles Inventory (LSI)

MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior
Professor Frank Readus

16. Personal Thinking Styles
The LSI chart shows that my primary thinking style is
avoidance (raw 25, 99%) and
dependent (raw 32, 99%). People inavoidance style usually like
to avoid making
decisions and leave them to others. The commitment would be
their difficulty in
management and leadership. I kind of agree with that because I
do pay most
attentions to my own concerns and most likely ignore others;
however, I disagree
with that it is difficult to forgive myself after making mistakes
because mistakes don’t take me down for a long time and I
would like to do whatever it needs to correct the issues. Other
than avoidance, dependent is so true to me and I feel like this
thinking style totally descripts me. I am very sensitive to
people’s feelings and I usually let them get satisfied and then
follow them. For example, whenever I hang out with my friends,
I always let them decide what to do and I just need to join them
without making challenging plans and decisions.
17. My secondary thinking style is conventional thinking (raw 29,
97%), which makes sense that it comes with my primary
thinking style. That group of people respects others pretty much
and is conservative. They like to follow policies and practices
avoid conflicts. In their opinions, rules are usually in a higher
priority than ideas. I totally agree with this because I don’t like
to try new things or ideas. I believe rules exist for reasons and
are made based on trustworthy experience, so following rules
would be a less risky behavior and I don’t like take even a small
risk in my life.
It turns out that my limiting style is achievement that is actually
a key factor to a successful leadership. The achievement style
means achieving and enthusiasm as well as high level of
aspiration. People in achievement style would like to think
ahead, share responsibilities, set own goals and accomplish
them. They focus on results and are not afraid to tough tasks.
Therefore, they would most possibly enjoy the success in the
end. The LSI result chart shows that I got only a raw score of 15
and a percentile score of 7%, which means I have problems in
this area. Without achievement-oriented thinking, I may not be
capable of setting goals, making plans and progress, and finally
accomplish a project successfully. The lack of those skills will
stop me from being capable of managing and achieving the
success.
Primary style:
Impact on Management Style
A. Planning
I am not a person with achievement-oriented thinking, so I am
not capable to plan things and set goals. Based on the LSI
result, I got a really low score in achievement, which shows that
I have limited ability to make plans.
18. B. Organizing
Once again, due to lacking such abilities to set goals and make
plans, I am not capable to organize people or resources in order
to lead a project or team. In addition, I am most likely to be
organized due to my dependent personal style.
C. Leading
The basic requirements of leading are making decisions and
commitments; however, I am a dependent person with avoidance
thinking and I couldn’t meet any of those requirements. As a
result, I am not able to lead even a very small team.
D. Controlling
As you see, I am a dependent person and I don’t like to control
things or people; instead, I like to follow others or rules.
Moreover, I am a conventional person and respect others but not
create new ideas. It turns out I am not able to control a team or
project.
Genesis of Personal Style
My family did develop my personal style of conventional and
dependent thinking. Since I was a child, my family has decided
everything I need to do. I usually didn’t have any idea or plan
because I knew my family would give me one and I preferred to
be passive and follow them. In another word, I really depended
on my family and even could not live well without them. In
school, I always tried avoid thinking about plans when staying
with my friends because it was a kind of tough job to me and I
enjoyed following them and didn’t need to be responsible. When
meeting conflicts, I was always the girl who was always
listening and keeping quite. Both my family and school life
were leading me to develop a personal style avoidance.
Conclusion and Reflection
19. According to the LSI results, my primary thinking style is
avoidance and dependence and secondary thinking style is
conventional. It shows that I am not able to lead due to lacking
basic leader personalities and management skills. In addition,
my childhood lifeis the most import reason why I developed
those person styles. I am taking this course is to learn
management skills and I hope MGMT591 would help me
develop more about leader styles such as achievement-oriented
thinking.

The raw scores potentially range from 0 to 40. The percentile
scores represent your results compared to those of 9,207
individuals who previously completed the Life Styles Inventory.
For example, a percentile score of 75 means that you scored
higher along a particular position than 75% of the other
respondents in the sample and, in turn, indicates that the style
represented by that position is strongly descriptive of you. In
contrast, a score of 25 means that you scored higher than only
about 25% of the other respondents and therefore indicates that
the style represented by that position is not very descriptive of
you.Your LSI Styles Circumplex

circumplex graphic in each of the 12 sections.
Examining your Circumplex
To accurately interpret your LSI results, it is important for you
to consider your score on each style in terms of its range (high,
medium, or low) on the profile. The three ranges correspond to
the percentile points in the circumplex and in the table above.
