3. 1 Peter 2:18-25
Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not
only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those
who are harsh. For it is commendable if a man bears up under
the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But
how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong
and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it,
this is commendable before God. To this you were called,
because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that
you should follow in his steps. quot;He committed no sin, and no
deceit was found in his mouth.“ When they hurled their insults at
him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats.
Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He
himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might
die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have
been healed.

patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's
people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who
persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those
who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony
with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate
with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is
right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it
depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take
revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is
written: quot;It is mine to avenge; I will repay, quot;says the Lord. On
the contrary: quot;If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is
thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will
heap burning coals on his head.“ Do not be overcome by evil,
but overcome evil with good.
