The Korea Autonomous Vehicle Contest 2013 was hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supervised by KATECH and KSAE. It featured 10 testing phases from February to October 2013 and a final contest on October 9-11 at Korea International Circuit. The purpose was to develop commercial autonomous vehicle technologies, with support from partners like Carnegie Mellon and sponsors including Hyundai, Kia, and automotive suppliers. The contest evaluated vehicles on their ability to perform missions involving traffic sign recognition, obstacle avoidance, path planning, and interactions with other vehicles and pedestrians.
