Project Ethic is an initiative aimed at addressing the decline in altruistic behavior in society, encouraging individuals to help one another without expecting anything in return. It seeks to highlight the negative attitudes of self-interest and promote a culture of compassion through media projects that expose and evaluate public responses to helping others. The project poses reflective questions to gauge people's willingness to assist others and aims to plant seeds for societal change.

2. A Simple Question… When was the last time you helped someone in need, without any expectation of credit or return? Was this a selfless act? How did it make you feel? Has someone helped you lately?

3. These days fewer people – and fewer every day – are helping each other. Project Ethic is an integrated media and public experiment series set to bring this troubling fact to bare. Today’s accepted (and defended) attitude is, “I’m too busy. They can help themselves. I have to look out for number one. Me.” Because really, if you don’t look after yourself, who will? This is, of course, backwards thinking. If nobody helps one another anymore, what kind of society are we left with? Project Ethic seeks to supplant these twisted morals! This is an aggressive manifesto designed to show the public how we’ve become, and perhaps plant the seeds of change…

4. Karma: “for every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful.” [ncf.ca]

5. So, what are we to do? Expose. Through a set of focused, integrated media projects, we will show people some troubling situations, and their responses. Explain. We will evaluate peoples’ reactions, and explain the problem. Distribute. Plant the seeds of change by dispersing the message amongst the public.

7. Question 1: In the past week, how many opportunities can you remember having to help someone? Question 2: How many of those opportunities did you act on?

8. This means that people are helping each other less than 18% of the time they are able to. Is this acceptable?

9. Someone saw this happening… Do you think anything was done? Would you have done anything? Do you feel safe locking your bike up? Is it time for a change?
