The document discusses the topic of victory over sin through faith in Jesus Christ. It provides scriptural references and analysis showing that through Christ, believers can have victory over sin even though they still struggle with sinful desires of the flesh. The key is relying on Christ's victory over sin and death, rather than one's own efforts to obey religious laws or rules.
One of the things we must learn in the Christian life is "how to kill sin." As John Owen put it "be killing your sin or it will be killing you." Last night in our study we looked at Romans 8 "the great 8." And part of the emphasis was on Romans 8:13
One of the important themes of the Lord's Prayer is "Forgiveness". In this sermon, Pastor Albert Kang takes you on a journey of forgiveness. This will not only free your soul of bitterness but it will also help you get reconnected with people whom you had bad experiences before. It is not so much that they have changed but that you have been empowered to forgive them. New attacks will no longer hurt you because you now have the spiritual tenacity to overcome. In short, you have a spiritual immunity system build-up so strongly that nothing will be able to break in and destroy your peace with the Lord.
Judge NOT: What I Must Do Instead of JudgingDave Stewart
Matthew 7:1-6: In this lesson we’ll learn about what we must do instead of judging by looking at the instruction from various passages. Three areas are examined: those in the world, a brother in sin, and a weak brother. Above all, we must show mercy!

Based on "Respectable Sins" by Jerry Bridges, this lesson describes how vile, ugly, and destructive sin truly is. In order to truly apply the remedy for sin, we have to see it for what it is. Sin is rebellion against the Law of God, but it is also despising the Person of God.
There is a platform we each step onto at the start of every day, which is called the platform of exposure to sin. Our memory verse this week says it all.

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
2. I must understand that I am
only the VESSEL, the CONDUIT,
and the FAUCET!
Romans 7:14-25

4. It’s all about victory!
The reason why many fail in battle is because
they wait until the hour of battle. The reason
why others succeed is because they have
gained their victory on their knees long
before the battle came. Anticipate your
battles; fight them on your knees before
temptation comes, and you will always have
victory. Author: R.A. Torrey
5. Are you victorious?
• The first step on the way to victory is to recognize the
enemy. Author: Corrie Ten Boom
• Nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that
things can never change. We need to remind ourselves
that God can change things. Outlook determines
outcome. If we see only the problems, we will be
defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the
problems, we can have victory.
Author: Warren Wiersbe
6. So, what is sin?
•The answer is rebellion against God!
SIN IS INSUBORDINATION: It is rebellion against God’s
revealed truth and will as we have it in the Bible and in real life.
•SINS OF OMISSION: when we know what is right and fail to
speak up or fail to act when called upon.
•SINS OF COMMISSION: anything we do which we know to be
a direct rebellion towards God’s will in our lives.
7. What are some of the sins in our life?
THE SIN OF SADNESS THE SIN OF INGRATITUDE
THE SIN OF SELFISHNESS THE SIN OF DESPAIR
THE SIN OF JEALOUSY OR ENVY THE SIN OF WORRY
THE SIN OF PRAYERLESSNESS THE SIN OF PRIDE
THE SIN OF TEMPER THE SIN OF UNBELIEF
THE SIN OF CARNALITY THE SIN OF MALICE
THE SIN OF FAITHLESSNESS THE SIN OF COMPLAINING
THE SIN OF BOREDOM THE SIN OF SELF-IGNORANCE
THE SIN OF AN UNBRIDLED TONGUE
8. Nine Ways Sin Deceives us
D. Martin Lloyd Jones
1 Corinthians 10:23
1. Sin gets us to misuse the Law.
2. Sometimes sin changes its tactics.
3. Sin tells us that it does not matter if we are holy.
4. Sin deceives us by making us angry at the Law.
5. Sin gets us to believe that the Law is worthless.
6. Sin makes us think very highly of ourselves.
7. Sin tells us that the law is oppressive.
8. Sin makes righteousness look so unattractive.
9. Sin causes us to discount the disobedience.
9. We Struggle With Sin (13-20)
Paul next raised another question.
Romans 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me?
He answered it beginning in the remainder of the same verse. Romans
7:13-16 ....God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in
me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become
exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal,
sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I
not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I
consent unto the law that [it is] good.
10. We struggle with sin
Like all of us, Paul’s struggle with sin
was real. His desire was to do good, but
as he writes, “there is no ability to do
it”(v.18) Even for those who deeply
desire to do good, sin is ever present and
guides us toward evil. The depraving
power of sin should never be
underestimated.
11. (21) I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who
wills to do good.
(22) For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
(23) But I see another law in my members, warring against the
law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin
which is in my members.
(24) O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this
body of death?
(25) I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with
the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law
of sin.
12. We have victory over sin
Paul understood that in his sin, he was a
“wretched man” (v.24). Defeat was his destiny,
but he found victory over the destruction of sin.
What was his key to victory? His faith in the One
who triumphed over sin and death. Victory can
be ours too, based not in religions but in a
relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.
13. Salvation does not come through any
law-abiding righteousness on our part
but “through Jesus Christ our Lord”
(v. 25). In his death and resurrection, he
has atoned for the penalty of our law-
breaking sinfulness and has further
broken the power of that system over us
(Romans 7:5-6).
14. Simplistic solutions!
Paul shows that even though the law is glorious and good, it
can't save us - and we need a Savior. Paul never found any
peace, any praising God until he looked outside of himself and
beyond the law to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
The glorious truth remains: there is victory in Jesus! Jesus
didn't come and die just to give us more or better rules, but to
live out victory through those who believe. The message of the
gospel is that there is victory over sin, hate, death, and all evil
as we surrender out lives to Jesus and let Him live out victory
through us.
15.
16.
17. Our Further Victory
1 Corinthians 15:56-58
56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and
the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God!
He gives us victory over sin and death through
our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 So, my dear brothers
and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always
work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know
that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Whenever you take sin and turn it into crime, what you’ve done is taken God out of the picture because sin is committed between a person and God. Crime is malfeasance between two human beings. \n
