The core value for the month is ‘Sincerity’. When I think of
‘Sincerity’ the picture of my own teachers, who have been idols of
perseverance and sincerity come to my mind In a span of two
decades, Viswajyothi has developed to higher levels. Constant
learning, hard slog, genuineness and endurance of our faculty is
and will always play a pivotal role in fostering the learners of our
institution.
Each dawn brings in fresh rays of innovative ideas. The creative
minds put together these ideas with well set goals and sincerity to
bring laurels. Terminology may fall short when it comes to applauding
teachers’ contributions. In the growth of our institution, the names of
our heart and soul, have to be inscribed as ‘Abou Ben Adhem’s’
name on the God’s list. Their sweat and blood is felt on every building
block of our school. Their sincerity towards their profession is
laudable. No stone was, is or will leave unturned. No floras do they
expect but it is their conscious evaluation of their very existence on
earth, which prescribes the norms before them. The teachers are
never catered or summoned to execute. Voluntary service, keeping
aside their personal woes and throes has always been our trump
card. Who more can be the best example of sincerity? My very
existence has relentlessly been empowered by my teachers.
Let them be the models of sincerity to every ‘Viswajyothian’

I have always understood that life is about choices. Every
time we are at the crossroad, we have to make choice and
that alleyway takes us to another crossroad, thus deciding our
expedition and therefore the intention. I see making a choice as the
supremacy to counter to a given condition . No matter how difficult that choice is,
it does exist for each one of us, even if the choice is between a rock and a hard
place, it is still a choice. If we look upon everything we do, as a choice we made by
our tact, then there will be no room for excuses and blame games. So be sure
from now on, your life moves forward by the choices made by you because after
all it is your life.

Be sincere in your words
and deeds
Sincerity is an essential element of life. It is
generally understood to be true in words and actions.
Your action and words are a reflection of your inner
feelings. It is not enough to say the right thing or do
what is expected. A sincere person begins inside with
the feeling and allows these feelings to be mirrored in
his interactions with the outside world. Sincerity
should always be an offshoot of love, care, protection
and security. A sincere person is always welcome
because of his truthful mind, friendly attitude and real
personality. We should make it as a rational reasonable
human. Virtue according to the occasion that
demands our sincerity. We must practice this virtue
for without sincerity, hypocrisy and deception would
be rampant.
As children you need to ask yourselves are we
sincere towards our duties, be it studies or towards
teachers, parents, friends, society or a nation as a
whole. Why are we sliding away from our duties?
Sincerity may be cumbersome at first but in
the long run it has always proved to be
advantageous.

the person responsible for it. The pull to tag the person
“careless” is very easy, but criticism needs to be used as
correctional tool in a positive manner
Avoid criticizing in public because of. in would mean
loss of countenance and perhaps cancelling the value of
correction. Criticize only in private.
Preface criticism with kind words. You must acknowledge
the person’s previous efforts to do work well.
Your comments should be directed at the act, not at the
person.
Do not expect the change instantly .
Avoid overemphasizing mistake again and again. If
necessary, tell how to do right.
Ask for co-operation and never demand it. Instead, “Let
us work together” is most effective
It is always better to state clearly what needs improvement.
It is best to begin with a morale booster, end up in a
positive fashion showing faith in a person’s willingness and
ability to comply. This sets the stage for the acceptance of
your suggestion for improvement.

(a) Question: My son is studying in class XII in commerce
stream. He wants to offer Economics as an additional
sixth subject. The school authorities are not agreeing.
What to do?
Answer by CBSE: A candidate must have studied a subject for
two years. So, according to rules, he is not eligible to offer a
new subject at this stage.
(b) It is being claimed that removing Class-X Board
examination will reduce tension. Will it not be better to
prepare the students to face tension and become
stronger citizens?
Answer by CBSE: It is certainly not advisable to put the students to
excessive tension due to examination, particularly during
impressionable age and stage. There are other better
methods to motivate them for academic excellence. One of
these is to create challenging tasks and situations for brighter
students. Better learning takes place in a supportive and
friendly environment.
(c) Question: Sir, Parents prefer to admit their wards to
CBSE affiliated schools instead to Kerala State Board
schools mainly due to strong Curriculum framework
and examination pattern of CBSE. Introduction of
grading system by Kerala Board was not appreciated
by the people. The new grading system introduced by
CBSE may also meet the same fate.
Answer by CBSE: Please go through the circulars carefully. These
are available on CBSE website www.cbse.nic.in . There will
neither be reduction in syllabus nor dilution in standard of
examinations. The question papers designed by the Board
will be used by the schools, the curriculum is being re-
organized but not diluted. Grading system is certainly sounder.
(d) Question: Dear Sir, India is known for its tough but
quality education. The recently introduced changes are
likely to drastically lower the standard of education in
India. Is it not a retrogradive step?
Answer by CBSE: The curriculum at Secondary stage has been
re-organised but certainly not diluted. The pattern and
standard of question papers will be decided by the Board.
How will then the standard of education be lowered? Please
remember that the role and functions of a school are distinctly
different from a coaching centre. It is a step taken after lot of
country-wide consultations and the new scheme focuses on
holistic development of the learner.
(e) Question: The students getting 81 marks or 90 marks
will be awarded the same grade A2 How is it justified?
Answer by CBSE: Using grading system for assessment of
students is educationally sounder than awarding numerical
scores. Grading system takes care of imperfections in the
tools and techniques used in the assessment presently.

great minds through the ages, with the artists

Kepler, dramatists like Shakespeare and
Bernard Shaw, doctors like William Harvey,
Economists like Malthus, educators like
Maria Montessori and Thomas Huxley,
historians like Herodotus and Gibbon,
inventors like Rontegen and Alva Edison etc.
Interaction with these superior minds and
their invaluable means of communication
are in the reach of all. In these classics great
men talk to us their precious thoughts and
pour their souls into ours. So make use of
such books and develop your minds and
create new things for the development of
others.
Books give creativity
Books open the door to the world of
creative thought and imagination. They are
life long friends and the best of good company.
Books give comfort In the stress of life we
seek for relief in books. They are companions
to the deserted. They give joy to the joyless. It
is a helper to the helpless. Pope Pius X says
that “Books are faithful friends: they warn us
of our duties: they awake in our souls the
heavenly voices that have been silences; they
disturb the treacherous calm in which we
live; they reveal the dangers that lie in the
path of the unwary;- and all these they do
with such unobtrusive kindness as becomes
our very friends.

process of education but it is acting as a silent
agent by giving knowledge through its books
and periodicals to the teachers and the
students . The words of Stefan Zweig on books
should be reverberated in our minds when we
approach the library. “Books are there, waiting
and silent. They neither urge, nor call, nor
press their claims. Mutely they are ranged
along the wall. They seem to be asleep and
yet from each one a name looks at you like an
open eye. If you direct your glances their way
or move your hands over them, they do not
call out to you in supplication, nor do they
obtrude themselves upon you. They make no
demands. They wait until you are receptive to

With the message of peace and harmony the Onam season once
again came alive. The staff, the students and the management of
Viswajyothi CMI Public school celebrated Onam before the school
closed for the ten days of vacation. The Kindergarten section had
the celebration on 1st
Sep. It was marvellous to see the young
butterflies in traditional Kerala dress, singing and dancing who came
to greet their brothers and sisters

In the afternoon there was an inter-house Pookkalam competition
this was followed by onakkali and payasam distribution.
Life becomes a festival when gaiety and culture blend. Onam
delivers the message of both.”This year Onam proved to be a unique
experience. Nearly 130 senior citizens from the school
neighbourhood were cordially welcomed to celebrate this auspicious
day in Viswajyothi .Class XII students were given the chance to
honour them. The function was graced by the presence of our
Manager Rev. Fr. Jose Padayatty CMI, our Principal Rev. Fr.
Varghese Kachappilly CMI , our Vice Principal Rev.Fr. Sebes
Attokaran CMI, Rev. Fr. Eliazer Vadakumchery CMI, our PTA
President Mr. Joseph Kanichai and famous Malayalam poet Sri.
N.K. Desom, Sri. E.V. Kamalakshan and Smt. Celena Devassy
Muncipal councillors and Rev. Fr. Hormees Mynaty, Vicar of Vengoor
Church felicitated the occasion. The role of teachers and parents
of worth appreciating. The senior citizens shared their experiences
and they took enough pain to bring gifts in the form of their paintings
which could never fade with the passage of time.
The official inauguration was followed by various cultural
programmes presented by different classes. But for the students of
class XII the precious moments were when they presented
“Onakkodi” to the senior citizens . The students felt blessed from the
bottom of their hearts.”Old age has its own wisdom”. So when the

It was a three day programme
named ‘Step One’ exclusively for

opportunity to meet new people

music and dance which was
enjoyed thoroughly.

It was really the most unforgettable time. We bear in mind that
such a phase of life awaits everyone, which could be cherished forever.

D. C. L. Kalady Zone celebrated Onam Festival in a grand way.
Music Competitions were conducted. The meeting that took place in
Viswajyothi CMI Public School, was inaugurated by the Principal Rev.
Fr. Varghese Kachappilly CMI., Mr. P. J. Thomas, the Organizer, Ms.
Solly Devasykutty , the President, Mr. P. D. Antony, the Regional Co-
ordinator and Sr. Merina, Mr. G. V. Varghese delivered a speech on
the occasion .Viswajyothi CMI Public School achieved the first place
with L.P. Section scoring 28 points, U. P. section 21 points and H.S.
section 22 points.
It was my dream as a little girl to grow up to become just like my
teacher one day. This childhood dream became a reality on 14th
September when the XIIth
STD students stepped into our teacher’s
shoes. All of us started out from our home, dressed up in an attempt to
initate our teachers. The “Good morning mam” from our juniors was
enough to make our day. We had no idea about how difficult teaching
is until we had to do the same.
This one day as teachers, gave us enough experience to realize
the pain our teachers take every day to mould us into better citizens.
Maintaining discipline in the classes was a task in itself. Our toil was
well- rewarded when the students responded to our questions. Our
juniors gave us an experience, we will never forget.
We tried to make teacher’s day special for our teaches too. This is a very difficult task because its nearly impossible to make such special
people feel special. The games we hosted for our teachers were equally enjoyable for students and teachers. It was followed by a formal
function to honour them in the auditorium. We presented our gurus with gifts which is only a small token of our love, gratitude and respect. We
showcased our various talents dedicating them to our teachers. Teachers day is best described as a bitter- sweet experience because the
little pains and struggle we had to go through was worth bearing for our teachers’ smiles.
