On the 28th of October,2023, The Giraffe Centre held a bird ringing event on its premises in Karen, Hardy along Nyumbi road. 48 bird species were ringed in a 2 day excursion.

The month of January 2016 was busy as we received a good number of general visitors. However the number of students that visited the Centre was a bit low compared to last five years during the same period despite the fact that this year schools opened for the first term on time.
Since the year 2009, AFEW has trained approximately 60 schools inYatta Sub-county of Machakos County and 15 Schools in Tharaka Nithi County. During the same period, AFEW has also funded 5 schools and 1 ESD network inYatta Sub-County and 3 schools to implement sustainable school micro-projects in the same regions respectively.
