Changing the way things are done!
Using patented magnetic technology, Magswitch has created a series of
powerful tools that replace many of the tools now in your customer’s
tool box.
¾ Magswitch will replace clamps and squares in most welding
applications.
¾ Grounding a welder is now as simple as a turn of a knob.
¾ Welders can hold their tools, lines, hoses, parts and lights right
where they need them.
¾ Fabricators can take an hour long job of making steel plate match,
down to 30 seconds or less.
¾ Material handling and lifting is safer, easier and less expensive.
¾ Welders who throw away their magnetic tools because they become
coated in metal debris will switch to Magswitch and never deal with
debris again!
¾ Ideal for anyone who works with, or on top of, steel!

Introduction
Magswitch Technology
What is it?
The Basics……….
Revolutionary new technology:  In switchable magnets …. Enabling use of magnetic tools not previously
practical.
Easy on off control: A simple 180 degree turn of the knob to full power.   Harnesses control over Powerful Rare
Earth magnets … without electricity.
Unprecedented Efficiency: Using the pole phase of two strong rare earth magnets in relation to each other,
the magnetic energy contained in the discs is either synchronized (on) when aligned north over north, or canceled (off)
when aligned north over south.   Competitive systems are bulky and inherently less efficient using common shunting
technology.   Magswitch actually results in a step up of the magnetic force in excess of the sum of the component
magnets.
Force control: Uniquely configured housing channels the direction of the magnetic force.
Scalable: Magswitch is scalable – various sizes.   Various shapes to grab flat and pipe.
Limitless Actuation.   The system can be turned on and off in a number of ways – such as manual, electric,
pneumatic, hydraulic, magnetically, remote control, etc.
The Sophisticated …..
Deep Magnetic Fields: Magswitch enables a deep penetrating focused magnetic field, yet Magswitch will also
hold stronger on thinner metals.   Performance that surpasses electromagnets without the cost, electricity, overheating
or size problems.
Shaping magnetic fields: Alignments of Magswitch in relation to each other allow the shaping of magnetic
fields to do things that were not previously achievable with other magnetic switching systems – including
electromagnets.    Examples include shallow yet strong fields for de‐stacking – or separating thin sheet.     Wide or
narrow fields.    Variable strength in the magnetic field through the actuation process – perfect for precision in
positioning.
Technology Innovations and Applications….
Auto switch: Magswitch engages automatically on contact with steel.  Your only action is to turn it off.
MagWheel:  Translating powerful magnetic force through steel wheels ‐ gripping pipe and flat surfaces during
travel.  Ideal for automated welding, inspection and material handling.
Green Technology:   Safety improvements and cost savings over electromagnets will convert use of
electromagnets to Magswitch.
Magswitch and Welders
Why will every welder have Magswitch in their tool box?
1. Welding is about joining.
2. Joining is about Workholding & Positioning.
3. Magswitch is about Workholding and Positioning.
4. From now on……Welding is about Magswitch.
How do welders join, position and hold work today?
They use clamps, they weld tabs and use fit up gear, they use hooks, and yes they use magnets.  Point is that
the tools that are out there take set up time and clean up time.
Magswitch tools such as Squares and Angles are quick strong clamps, AND
1. They are positioning aids.
2. They remove high/low mismatches fast and easy.
3. They secure two pieces of steel together.
4. They are shelves to rest metal on.
5. They are quick lift assist tools.
6. Magswitch cleans up easily – turn off and debris just falls away.

….NOW MORE THAN EVER – TIME IS MONEY FOR WELDERS…..
….MAGSWITCH WILL PUT MONEY BACK INTO THE WELDERS POCKET…..

Magswitch Technology Overview.
Magswitch products utilize a patented process to switch Permanent Magnets on and off.  This creates the
most efficient and powerful magnets ever built!  This new technology allows Magswitch magnets the greatest
amount of sideways (shear force) holding power as well.
Magswitch uses pole phase alignment of two Rare Earth Neodymium Magnets.  When aligned opposite  each
other, (North to South) the magnetic energy is fully cancelled out.   When the user turns the knob 185 degrees
to the “ON” position, the magnets are now aligned together (North to North).   Magswitch’s patented housing
amplifies this energy and focuses this power in an extremely efficient manner.  This has never been done
before.  As a result of this controlled magnetic flow, Magswitch magnets are stronger on thinner metal, more
powerful on thicker metal and and have superior shear strength compared to any other magnets in the
industry today.

The most important features are:
1. Ability to turn off and turn on.  Without risk of damage to either surface, simply place
the magnet on the metal pieces, turn the handle to the “ON” position and your work is
held securely in position.  Turn the magnets to the “OFF” position to easily release the
material.
2. Easily moved or repositioned.  When turned “OFF”, Magswitch magnets can be
precisely positioned allowing for exact work placement before turning “ON”.

What can Magswitch do for
your customers?
One Shipbuilder estimated his labor cost savings at 97% when using a
specialty device equipped with Magswitch technology. Incredibly, Payback
on this industry specific tool was less than 2 days!

"The Magswitch will have applications that have not previously been possible, or
considered practical, in the same way that the zipper replaced buttons many
years ago, or in the same way epoxy resins replaced animal glues."

FAQ’s
Frequently Asked
Questions

Question;
Why is Magswitch so special (different)?
Answer;
Magswitch Is patented technology and is different from all other magnetic devices on the
market today.
1. Magswitch harnesses the power of Two Magnets to create one that is more powerful for
its size than any other magnet in the industry today.
2. Utilizing Two Magnets, (diametrically opposed in their polarization), Magswitch can be
fully turned off. Magswitch is therefore able to be Air Shipped, Positioned, Handled
Safely, Removed and Cleaned of Debris that may be attracted to it.
3. Magswitch magnets are activated gradually as the user turns the knob or moves the
handle.  This allows for repositioning of the magnet or the steel so that it is precisely
aligned before welding or fabrication.  Once the material is in precise alignment, simply
turn the knob the rest of the way to lock in place and hold securely.
Question;
How are Magswitch magnets any different or better than existing
products?
Answer;
There are certainly other magnetic devices that are on the market today, Magswitch has
advantages and patented technology that no other magnet has.
1. Ability to turn completely off.  Other magnetic devices either turn off by prying the
magnet away from the face or, in the case of switchable magnets, by using a large piece
of steel (Shunt) to absorb as much magnetic energy as possible.  These all allow magnetic
energy to escape to some degree and do not actually turn the magnet off.   Because
Magswitch does not use Shunts, or Pry Away techniques, we can create smaller, more
powerful and more cost effective magnetic devices.
2. Electromagnets have been a favorite of material handling for many years.  Magswitch is
far smaller in size, lighter in weight, do not require electricity to operate and can last
indefinitely in the “ON” or the “OFF” positions.  Magswitch lifters are 100% duty cycle
rated as opposed to electromagnets that overheat at only a fraction of that usage.

Magswitch FAQ’s

3. Because Magswitch turns completely “OFF”, any metal debris from welding, grinding and
fabrication falls off when the magnet is turned “OFF”.  Any remaining fine metal dust that
remains is easily wiped away.  The dust has a slight magnetic charge, not the magnet!
Question;
How strong are the magnets, how much will they hold?
Answer;
This is the most difficult question to answer.  Let me explain why and give you a better idea of
how to qualify your customer.
1. The Magswitch device is only half of the equation.  The target that the magnet is holding
to is the other half, and is just as important.  While the Magswitch is the most powerful
magnet you can buy, as with all magnets, it must be attached to metal that fully absorbs
all of its magnetic energy.  In order to achieve the maximum holding power, the metal
surface has to meet the following criteria;
a. Smooth‐ Any Air Gap between the metal and the magnet will decrease the
holding power.  This is measured in Thousands of an inch.  Magswitch is stronger
in Air Gap performance, but this will still dramatically reduce the holding power.
b. Flat‐Air Gap will again decrease the holding power as above.  Round Stock and
Pipe will be held at about 50% of the comparable flat metal.
c. Clean‐Metal to metal contact is the key to maximum holding power.
d. Free of all debris, rust, paint, galvanization metal filings and debris, etc…
e. Non‐Bending, Non‐Flexing‐Material that can Peel Away will be more difficult to
lift or hold.
f. Thick enough to absorb all of the magnetic energy of the magnet.‐Magswitch is
able to hold thinner material better than any other magnet, but will still hold
thicker material better than thinner.
g. AISI1020 grade steel or equivalent.  All Ferromagnetic metals will be held,
however there is a predictable amount of DeRating that takes place when using
metals such as Nickel, Cast Iron, Grades of Stainless Steel, and various types and
grades of steel.

2. Magswitch will accommodate an Air Gap better than other magnets; however it is
critical to understand that any Air Gap, (measured in thousands of an inch) will have a
dramatic reduction in magnetic force.  Examples of Air Gaps that will have a negative
impact in hold are;
a. Galvanization
b. Chrome plating
c. Rust
d. Paint
e. Paper and any type of sticker or label

Question;
You talk about Magswitch MagSquares having Multi‐Plane Work
Holding, what does that mean?
Answer;
MagSquares are designed to hold on three planes, this allows for unparalleled fabrication, fit‐up
and welding ability.  The bottom of the MagSquare has the greatest amount of holding
power, subject to the holding power discussed in the answer above.  The two “Arched” sides
have approximately half the holding power of the bottom.  The two “Non‐Arched” sides have
a small amount of magnetic force as well.
1. What this means is that when placed on a fit up table, the MagSquare will securely hold
material on the bottom, strongly on two sides, and even on the other two sides as well.
Three dimensional fabrication is now possible, metal holding without the use of clamps,
holding steel without the risk of scratching or leaving clamp marks and holding metal in
place where a clamp cannot be located.
2. For the first time, users can precisely position, reposition, install and remove a welding
magnet without the magnets getting in the way.  When the magnets are in the “OFF”
position you will not have to struggle and fight the magnetic hold to precisely align the
metal pieces.  When the magnets are in the “ON” position, the steel will be held at
precise 90 degree angles to each other for quality fabrication.
Magswitch Hanging Hooks have holding power on their sides as well this allows for the hanging
of Nuts, Bolts, Small Tools etc to the sides.  This effect is strongest when the magnet is placed
on a surface that is thinner metal, or has paint, rust, etc. causing the magnet to be held less
strongly.

Question;
What are the holes in the sides of the MagSquares for?
Answer;
1. MagSquares are designed to have any non‐ferrous material attached to them by the
user to create the perfect homemade jig or fixture.  Magswitch recommends such
materials as Aluminum, Wood, and UHMW Plastic for this attachment.  The use of

Magswitch FAQ’s

ferrous metals is possible; Magswitch recommends that they only be attached to the
Non‐Arched sides to preserve the maximum holding power of the base.  Non‐Ferrous
spacers should be used between the steel material and the base to decrease the loss of
power that occurs when steel is attached to the sides.
2. MagSquares are also ideal for attaching to a fit up table, stationary jig or fixture, or used
inside of a machine.  Using the holes provided these MagSquares can be easily mounted
for repetitive holding without clamps or external power.

Question;
Why are some of the magnets so difficult to turn on?
Answer;
It is important to understand that there are only two magnets inside the housings, nothing
more.  Because the Magswitch patented technology uses diametrically opposed magnets,
they are naturally inclined to stay in the “OFF” position (remember, opposites attract).
When you try and turn them “ON” you are fighting the power of the two magnets.  When
you go to turn them “OFF”, they will try and go back to their natural state quickly and
powerfully.  Some magnets cannot be turned “ON” unless in contact with steel at the risk of
bodily injury!
1. When the magnets are placed on to Ferromagnetic steel, their magnetic energy is
absorbed by the steel.  Technically speaking, the Magnetic Circuit (north and south) is
completed in the target.  This means that you do not have to work as hard to turn them
“ON”.
2. One indicator of the holding power you can expect from the metal that you are attached
to is how difficult it is to turn the magnet “ON” When on a piece of steel that absorbs
the energy the best, it will be very easy to turn the Magswitch magnets “ON”  If you
place the magnet on a piece of steel that does not absorb very much of the magnetic
energy, it will still be more difficult, or impossible to turn the magnet “ON”  This is a
good general indicator of hold.  Refer to the first question for examples of conditions
that will reduce holding power and increase the effort required to turn the magnet
“ON”.

Magswitch FAQ’s

Question;
Your labels and Owner’s manuals tell me to leave the magnets “OFF”
when not in use, will it hurt the magnets if I leave them “ON”,
Can I store them “ON”?
Answer;
Magswitch magnets are designed to last a lifetime without wearing out.  They can be turned
“ON” or “OFF” indefinitely without harm.  Magswitch recommends that they be left in the
“OFF” position at all times when not in use for the following reasons only;
1. The magnets are extremely powerful when turned “ON”.  Should they be left “ON”,
items in the immediate vicinity may become attracted to them, or electronics nearby
may be damaged.
2. When transporting a magnet that is “ON”, it may be suddenly and powerfully attracted
to a steel object causing personal injury or damage to the surfaces or devices.
3. It is perfectly acceptable to store a magnet in the “ON” position such as a hook or
square on the side of a tool box or building beam.
Question;
What will harm my magnets, what do I have to be careful of?
Answer;
Magswitch magnets are impervious to most things that cause damage.  Shocks, Vibration, Cold
and most Heat will not harm them.  The housings are made of Steel that is plated to reduce
corrosion.
1. Rust will affect the operation and holding strength.  We recommend a light coat of oil as
needed to keep the housing from rusting.  DO not immerse or subject the housings to
water as this may allow water to enter the housing and cause rust internally.
2. The magnets are not designed to be subjected to temperatures above 176 degrees
Fahrenheit, 80 Celsius.  Above this temperature the magnets may lose their magnetism.
Always remove the magnets from a heat source, such as a welding location, after a tack
weld to prevent excessive heat transfer.
3. Excessive cold temperatures may cause the grease inside the magnets to become thick
and stiff causing the magnet to be more difficult to turn on and off.  This will not harm
the magnet, and it will return to its normal state when warmed up.
4. Burrs and damage to the bottom of magnet housing will also create an air gap and
decrease performance.  Should it become necessary, Magswitch recommends 400 grit
sandpaper and a flat surface to reflatten and remove burrs on the bottom.

Welding Ground Clamp
Operation and
Instruction Manual
Magswitch Technology Inc.
621 Southpark Dr. #1800
Littleton, CO 80120
www.Magswitch.com.au
This Magswitch Welding Ground Clamp is designed to hold a ground cable to any
Ferromagnetic Surface. Using Patented Technology,
this device has tremendous holding power as well as a great amount of
Shear Force Holding Strength to reduce sideways movement.
Read all instructions! Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in an unsafe or dangerous condition.
General Information
o All magnets need to be kept at a safe distance from all magnetic storage devices, electronics and credit cards etc.
o Ensure that the Ground Clamp is stored in the “off” position when not in contact with Ferromagnetic metals. The Magnet can be left
ON or OFF indefinitely without harm. When ON and near Ferromagnetic metals there will be a sudden and powerful attraction.
o Never use a Welding Ground Clamp to lift or transport any materials.
o DO NOT attempt to disassemble or alter the Welding Ground Clamp; there are no user serviceable parts inside the device.
o All Magswitch products are designed for normal work/jobsite conditions, do not use underwater or in a hazardous environment unless
specifically designed for that purpose.
o DO NOT use the Magswitch Welding Ground Clamp if it is damaged or is not working properly. Severe injury can occur if this
device is not used properly and safely.
o DO NOT expose the Ground Clamp to temperatures above 176 deg Fahrenheit (80 Celsius). High temperatures will permanently
degrade the magnet’s effectiveness and may result in an unsafe condition. Properly grounded, and used at or below the rated amperage,
the Ground Clamp will not get excessively warm.
o This product contains PTFE lubricant. For MSDS information contact Magswitch.
o Always keep the bottom of the magnet clean and free of debris and rust. If needed wipe with WD40 or light oil
o To avoid excessive heat and particle infiltration, do not place the magnet in flux while flux welding.
To Use the Welding Ground Clamp
o Attach the ground lug to the bolt on the Ground Clamp. Tighten the nut securely.
o DO NOT attach any other ground clamp to this Magnetic Ground clamp as this will degrade the performance and cause excessive
heat or arcing.
o Ensure that the ground wire is of the correct gauge to handle the amperage of the welder. (See welder owner’s manual for specific
information).
o Ensure that the entire Ground Clamp bottom is in contact with bare metal. Less than 100% contact may cause arcing or excessive
heat buildup.
o Never strike a test arc off of the Welding Clamp.
o For proper operation and to avoid overheating, do not place the Welding Ground Clamp less than Three (3) Inches from the weld
point.
o Never exceed the rated amp range of the ground clamp. Excess Amperage can cause overheating or damage to the unit.
o If the Magnetic Ground Clamp is found to be overheated, remove from all sources of heat quickly and cool by spraying a light
lubricant on the magnet, or by placing in a cool dry location.
o The Magswitch Ground Clamp is designed to be placed on most sizes of Round Stock or Pipe using the ‘V Groove’ in the bottom.
Ensure that the pipe is along the length of the V groove, not sideways to the groove. (See illustration below)
o In all cases, ensure that the Ground Clamp does not move, rock or rotate while in use. Ensure that the position of the cable is such
that the Ground Clamp is not pulled or twisted upon when in use.
o Always test the connection before attempting to use the Ground Clamp to ensure that it is capable of holding to the material securely.
o Numerous factors can negatively affect the strength of the Magnetic bond or cause arcing, dirt, debris, oils and grease, painted
surfaces and any gap between the Magnet and the metal surface will decrease the bond and may cause arcing. Ensure that the
connection point is clean and free of these factors.
o Thicker metals will be held more strongly than thinner metals. E.g.: 1/4" steel will be held more strongly than thin gauge metals.
Thin metals will allow the Ground Clamp to slide. Use of a backing plate will help to hold more securely when placed on thin metals.
o Always turn the clamp off and clear the Ground Clamp of all debris, slag etc… before attaching to a Ferromagnetic surface.
o Always ensure that the Ground Clamp is on clear and clean metal to eliminate the possibility of arcing, excessive heat buildup or
damage to the metal.
o Always ensure that the ground wire is securely connected to the Magswitch Ground Clamp to prevent arcing or overheating.
o Avoid sudden jerking or Shock force as this will cause the Ground Clamp to lose its hold.
o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet
face smooth using 400 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact.
Welding Clamp Operation
1. Expose fresh metal by grinding or scraping away any debris, paint, contaminants, rust or other substance that would prevent complete
contact.
2. Attach the ground clamp to the bare metal
3. Turn the ground clamp ON and ensure a secure hold that will not move.
4. Perform the welding operation
5. Promptly turn the weld clamp OFF and remove from the area to avoid any heat absorption.
6. Wipe clamp clean of any debris and the clamp is ready for use again.
o The handle on this Ground Clamp must be turned clockwise 185 degrees until it locks into place in order to be turned on. It is not
possible to hold the Ground Clamp in place unless fully turned on. DO NOT turn on unless in contact with metal! Damage to
surfaces may occur or debris may be attracted that will cause arcing.
o To release the Ground Clamp turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The Ground Clamp will turn off and
release Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the Ground Clamp and that nothing will
fall or become dangerous.
o This Ground Clamp is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; Magswitch Welding Ground Clamps are
exceptionally strong in Shear Force as well. Prying force is the least powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used
when attempting to use this device with Pry force. See illustrations below.

purpose.
o DO NOT use the MagSquare if it is damaged or is not working properly. Severe injury can occur if this device is not used properly and safely.
o DO NOT expose the Magswitch Magnets to temperatures above 176 deg Fahrenheit (80 Celsius). High temperatures will permanently degrade the Magnet’s
effectiveness and may result in an unsafe condition.
o Never use a MagSquare for OVERHEAD LIFTING or to transport any materials.
o Not recommended for painted or finish coated surfaces as these will reduce the magnetic bond and the finish may be damaged.
o This product contains PTFE lubricant. For MSDS information contact Magswitch.
o Always keep the bottom of the magnet clean and free of debris and rust. If needed wipe with WD40 or light oil
To Use the MagSquare
o Always test the connection before attempting to use the MagSquare to ensure that it is capable of holding the material securely.
o Numerous factors can negatively affect the strength of the Magnetic bond, dirt, debris, oils and grease, painted surfaces and any gap between the Magnet and the metal
surface will decrease the bond. Ensure that the connection point is clean and free of these factors.
o Thicker metals will be held more strongly than thinner metals. E.g.: 1/4" steel will be held more strongly than thin gauge metals.
o Never exceed the rated capacity of the MagSquare. 30mm MagSquares have up to 150 lbs of Break-Away Force. 50mm MagSquares have up to 600 lbs of Break-
Away Force and 70mm MagSquares have up to 1000 lbs of Break-Away force under ideal conditions. Tested in accordance with International Magnetics Association
testing methods and represents a straight Break-Away pull. Actual in-use results will vary greatly and user must test every bond to determine the suitability of the
magnet to hold the material.
o Avoid sudden jerking or Shock force as this will cause the MagSquare to lose its hold.
o Threaded Holes are provided in this MagSquare to mount accessories to it or to mount the square into a fixture. For best results do not attach Ferromagnetic Metals to
the MagSquare, unless using spacers as described below. This will keep the magnetic grip at its most powerful.
o Magswitch recommends that Stainless Steel screws be used to attach non-Ferromagnetic materials to the sides when used as a holder for your Jig or Fixture. Wood,
Plastics and Aluminum are all non-Ferromagnetic materials that make for excellent attachments. Alternatively non-Ferromagnetic spacers can be placed between the
MagSquare and the jig/fixture
o This MagSquare is not designed to be used as a welding ground clamp or as part of an electrical circuit.
o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet face smooth using 400 grit
sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact.
o As with all precision devices, damage can occur from dropping, bumping and impact. Magswitch recommends periodic inspection by the user to ensure that the 90
degree angles are still accurate and the MagSquare still fits their needs.
MagSquare Operation
o The handle on this MagSquare must be turned clockwise 180 degrees until it stops in order to be turned “ON”. It is not possible to hold the Magnet in place unless
fully turned “ON”.
o DO NOT turn ON unless in contact with Ferromagnetic Metal
o To release the MagSquare push the handle down and turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The MagSquare will turn off and release
Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the MagSquare and that nothing will fall or become dangerous.
o Always turn off power tools before turning the MagSquare ON or OFF to avoid injury.
o This MagSquare is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; MagSquares are exceptionally strong in Shear Force as well. Prying force is the least
powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used when attempting to use this device with Pry force. See illustrations below.

MagSquare Usage Manual
Never before have such versatile and powerful magnets had ON/OFF control with such ease. MagSquare is a multi-purpose
Workholding/Clamping tool with uses limited only by your imagination. Whether using it as a positioning aide, mounting tools to the
magnet, or installing the magnet into a fixture, you now have a versatile Workholding tool that will last for many years.
Ideal for holding material in place when on any cast iron or steel surface including;
9 Table Saw
9 Planer
9 Jointer
9 Shaper
9 Steel Router Table top
9 Band Saws
9 Drill Presses
9 Steel Fit-Up Table
9 Welding Table
9 Steel Pipe
9 Flat Stock
9 Bar Stock
9 Angle Iron
9 Structural Steel
9 Vehicle Frame/Chassis
9 Shop Machinery
9 And more!
¾ MagSquares are precision machined to hold Ferromagnetic material at 90 angles. They are perfectly suited to work-holding applications when you are
holding any Ferro-Magnetic substance such as steel plate, angle iron, pipe, and rod and bar stock.
¾ While the greatest holding power is straight down to the table, the two sides of the MagSquare that have arches in the bottom have very powerful magnetic
attraction forces as well. This allows for Multi-Plane work holding for fit-up at precise 90 degree angles. See Illustration on last page.
¾ Ferromagnetic Metals will be lightly held on the two non-arched sides as well.
¾ When used for material holding for metals that are to be welded, be careful not to overheat the magnets. Temperatures above 176 degrees internal will
permanently degrade the magnetic power and holding strength. Magswitch recommends a tack weld only to keep the heat transfer to a minimum. To help
reduce heat buildup, keep the MagSquare at least 3 inches from the welding point and remove after the tack weld.
¾ Attaching Ferromagnetic metals to the sides of the MagSquare will reduce the magnetic hold of the bottom as this force is now shared among more than one
direction.
¾ The holes are approximately ¼ inch deep, please add this amount to the thickness of your attached material to determine the fastener length required.
Industrial/Fabrication Applications:
MagSquares are ideal for replacing many types of clamps in a repetitive assembly or fabrication shop
application.
9 Cost Savings. Green. Requiring no electricity to turn on and OFF, they save money and are not affected by power loss.
9 Enduring. MagSquares can be left on indefinitely for long working times.
9 Ergonomics and Safety. Unlike standard hand clamps, MagSquares are easily positioned precisely as needed, and require little effort to turn on/OFF.
Reduce chances of repetitive stress and hand injuries from clamping.
9 Precise Positioning. Varying hold force throughout the actuation cycle from OFF to ON, Precise positioning is achieved through adjusting the hold force
while moving your material.
9 Non Marring Unlike traditional clamps, MagSquares will hold materials at any angle without damaging or marring the surfaces.
9 When attached to a Ferromagnetic repetitive assembly fixture for permanent or semi-permanent mounting, insert a non-Ferromagnetic spacer between the
MagSquare and the Ferromagnetic metal frame. This will ensure that maximum magnetic energy is directed into the bottom of the housing.
9 MagSquares can easily be mounted or used lying on their sides, either on a steel fit-up table or in an assembly fixture. This allows for maximum magnetic
hold to be in a direction of your choosing.
9 MagSquares are ideal for clean up after work. Picks up nuts, bolts, screws, scrap metal and shavings. Turn the MagSquare OFF to instantly release the
material, wipe off any remaining shavings and it is ready for use again.
9 Makes a perfect repetitive work stop when attached to any Ferromagnetic table top or vise.
Automotive and Body Shop Applications:
9 Quick, Strong Workholding. Ideal for holding and aligning parts when assembling a frame or chassis. Anytime a quick weld or precise assembly is
required- MagSquare is the answer!
9 Support Large Awkward Parts. Use one or more MagSquares to create a powerful support hold when working underneath a vehicle. Perfect for
Mufflers, CV Axles, calipers and more. Always attach to clean metal and test to ensure holding strength.
9 Perfect as a third hand when installing lines, exhaust pipes, mufflers, axles etc… Attach a chain or hook to the sides for added support opportunities.
9 Attach a hook or chain material to the sides to hang parts or larger items during install and repair.
9 Precision. Precisely positioned on metal surfaces, perfect for use to align and weld on parts. With multi-plane work holding capability, the MagSquare will
hold most weld on parts securely to the side, while remaining positioned on the frame. Magswitch recommends that a tack weld be used to avoid
overheating the MagSquare.
9 Ideal for holding small tools, fasteners and Ferromagnetic parts when working under a hood or vehicle. Two sides are magnetic!
9 Perfect for clean up after the job is done. Turn the MagSquare OFF to release all of the scrap, parts and shavings, wipe clean and it is ready for use.

90 Degree Angle Usage Manual-(30 and 50mm)
¾ This 90 Degree Angle is capable of holding up to 4 MagSquares in a precise 90 degree orientation. It is perfectly suited to work-holding applications
when you are holding any Ferromagnetic substance such as steel plate, angle iron, pipe, and rod and bar stock.
¾ As with all precision devices, damage can occur from dropping, bumping and impact. Magswitch recommends periodic inspection by the user to ensure
that the 90 degree angle is still accurate and fits their needs.
¾ While these Angles are sold with Two MagSquares up to two additional MagSquares of the same size can be added to provide greater hold and greater
stability.
¾ All Magnets can be turned to provide for Inside or Outside 90 degree angles. Attach the magnets using the upper holes in the magnet only.
¾ To adjust the magnets. Always place the 90 degree Angle on a flat Ferromagnetic surface, turn the magnets on to secure them to the surface. Push
down on the side plates until they are flat on the surface and hold while tightening the screws. Check that the magnet bottoms are flush to the side plates
for proper performance.
¾ It is important to ensure that all four Magnets are oriented the same way. All “ON” indicators face the same way or the magnetic fields can interact
resulting in dramatically reduced holding power. See Illustration Below!
¾ To use the 90 Degree Angle, simply position the material, and then turn the handle clockwise 180 degrees until it locks in place to the “ON” position.
As you turn the handle, the magnetic grip increases allowing for accurate positioning until fully held in place.
¾ When welding pipe, where the cuts are not at exactly 90 degrees, it is possible to loosen the screws in the obround holes. Lightly tighten the screws,
adjust the metal until the joint fits, and turn the magnets “ON”. Tighten the screws and continue. Repetitive assemblies will require no further
adjustment.
¾ Never turn the magnets on when not in contact with metal. Sudden impact to the metal can occur causing personal injury or damage to the surfaces.
¾ Always test the hold of the Magnets to ensure that it is sufficient to secure the material in place without slipping or falling.
¾ When finished, push down and turn the Magnets handle counter clockwise 180 degrees to the “OFF” position, taking care that nothing will fall or
become a hazard as the magnets will release their hold immediately.
¾ When used for material holding for metals that are to be welded, be careful not to overheat the magnets. Temperatures above 176 degrees Fahrenheit
internal will permanently degrade the magnetic power and holding strength. Magswitch recommends a tack weld only to keep the heat transfer to a
minimum. Magswitch recommends a minimum of 3 inches from the magnet to the weld point, and that the magnet be removed immediately after the
tack weld to reduce heat transfer.
¾ Holes are provided so that the 90 Degree Angle can be secured to a repetitive assembly fixture or an assembly table. Using the holes it is possible to
move the existing magnets to better hold your material, or to add up to two additional magnets for greater grip strength and holding power. Always use
the stainless steel screws included when adding additional magnets.
¾ 30mm Squares require M5 x .8 fasteners. Holes are approximately ¼” (6 mm) deep.
¾ 50mm Squares require M6 x 1.0 fasteners. Holes are approximately 3/8” (9 mm) deep.
¾ Additional screws and washers are included for mounting additional MagSquares

Boomerangle Operation and
Instruction Manual
This Magswitch Boomerangle is designed to hold steel plate, pipe, bar and rod stock, flat stock or angle iron.
Using Patented Technology, these magnets have tremendous holding power as well as a great amount of
Shear Force Holding Strength to prevent sideways movement.
Read all instructions! Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in an unsafe or dangerous condition.
General Information
o All Magnets need to be kept at a safe distance from all Magnetic storage devices, electronics and credit cards etc…
o Ensure that the Magswitch Magnets are stored in the “off” position when not in contact with Ferromagnetic metals.
o Never use a Magswitch Boomerangle to lift any material, although it is ideal for debris cleanup, nuts and bolts, metal shavings, etc…
o Never use a Magswitch Boomerangle for OVERHEAD LIFTING!
o DO NOT attempt to disassemble the Magswitch Magnets; there are no user serviceable parts inside the device.
o All Magswitch products are designed for normal work/jobsite conditions, do not use underwater or in a hazardous environment unless specifically
designed for that purpose.
o DO NOT use the Magswitch Boomerangle if it is damaged or is not working properly. Severe injury can occur if this device is not used properly and
safely.
o DO NOT expose the Magswitch Magnets to temperatures above 176 deg. Fahrenheit (80 Celsius). High temperatures will permanently degrade the
Magnets’ effectiveness and may result in an unsafe condition.
o Not recommended for painted or finish coated surfaces will reduce the magnetic bond and the finish may be damaged.
o This product contains PTFE lubricant. For MSDS information contact Magswitch.
To use the Boomerangle
o Always test the connection before attempting to use the Magswitch Boomerangle to ensure that it is capable of holding the material securely.
o Numerous factors can negatively affect the strength of the magnetic bond. Dirt, debris, oils and grease, painted surfaces and any gap between the
Magnets and the metal surface will decrease the bond. Ensure that the metal is clean and free of these factors.
o Thicker metals will be held more strongly than thinner metals. Eg: 1/4" steel will be held more strongly than thin gauge metals.
o Never exceed the rated capacity of the device or attempt to alter the device in any way. Each 30mm Magnet has up to 150 lbs of Break-Away Force.
Each 50mm Magnet has up to 600 lbs of Break-Away Force, under ideal conditions. Tested in accordance with International Magnetics Association
testing methods and represents a straight Break-Away pull. Actual in-use results will vary greatly and user must test every bond to determine the
suitability of the magnet to hold the material.
o Avoid sudden jerking or Shock force as this will cause the Magnets to lose its hold.
o Never use any Magswitch Boomerangle as a welding ground or as part of an electrical circuit!
o Never use the Boomerangle without first tightening the knobs to secure the magnets in place. Always test this hold to ensure that nothing moves or
causes a pinch point.
o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet face smooth
using 400 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact.
Boomerangle Operation
o The magnet handles on this Magswitch Boomerangle must be turned clockwise 180 degrees until they stop in order to be turned “ON”. It is not
possible to hold the Magnets in place unless fully turned on.
o DO NOT turn on unless in contact with Ferromagnetic Metal! The magnet can be left ON or OFF indefinitely without harm. When ON, and
near a Ferromagnetic object, the magnet will attract suddenly and powerfully possibly causing damage to the surfaces or the user.
o To release the Magnets push the handle down and turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The Magnets will turn off and
release Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the Magnets and that nothing will fall or become dangerous.
o Always turn off power tools before turning the MagSquare ON or Off to avoid injury
o This Magswitch Boomerangle is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; Magswitch Magnets are exceptionally strong in Shear Force
as well. Prying force is the least powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used when attempting to use this device with Pry force.

Boomerangle Usage Manual-(30 and 50mm)
¾ This Boomerangle is perfectly suited to work-holding applications when holding any Ferromagnetic substance
such as steel plate, angle iron, pipe, and rod and bar stock.
¾ As with all precision devices, damage can occur from dropping, bumping and impact. Magswitch
recommends periodic inspection by the user to ensure that the Boomerangle is still accurate and fits their
needs.
¾ This Boomerangle is equipped with two ratcheting knobs to tighten/loosen the magnets. They can be pulled
out and rotated to be in the most comfortable location during use.
¾ It is possible to remove the knobs and posts on one side of the 50 mm magnets in order to lay the Boomerangle
flat. Be sure to test the strength of the magnetic hold and position to ensure that the material is held safely.
(Applies to 50 mm Boomerangle only).
¾ The magnets can be turned to provide for either an Inside or Outside angle. They are limited by a slot in the
side plates which allows for free movement in a 180 degree arc. Do not force the magnets to rotate, loosen the
knobs and turn the magnets before tightening the knobs securely.
¾ To use the Boomerangle, simply position the material exactly as required then turn the handle clockwise 180
degrees until it locks in place to the “ON” position. As you turn the handle, the magnetic grip increases
allowing for accurate positioning until fully held in place.
¾ Never turn the magnets on when not in contact with Ferromagnetic metal. Sudden impact to the metal can
occur causing personal injury or damage to the surfaces.
¾ Always test the hold of the Magnets to ensure that it is sufficient to secure the material in place without
slipping or falling.
¾ When finished, Push down and turn the Magnet’s handle counter clockwise until is stops turning to the “OFF”
position, taking care that nothing will fall or become a hazard as the magnets will release their hold
immediately.
¾ When used for material holding for metals that are to be welded, be careful not to overheat the magnets.
Temperatures above 176 degrees internal will permanently degrade the magnetic power and holding strength.
Magswitch recommends a tack weld only to keep the heat transfer to a minimum.

  • 2.               Changing the way things are done! Using patented magnetic technology, Magswitch has created a series of  powerful tools that replace many of the tools now in your customer’s  tool box.  ¾ Magswitch will replace clamps and squares in most welding  applications.  ¾ Grounding a welder is now as simple as a turn of a knob.  ¾ Welders can hold their tools, lines, hoses, parts and lights right  where they need them.  ¾ Fabricators can take an hour long job of making steel plate match,  down to 30 seconds or less.  ¾ Material handling and lifting is safer, easier and less expensive.  ¾ Welders who throw away their magnetic tools because they become  coated in metal debris will switch to Magswitch and never deal with  debris again!  ¾ Ideal for anyone who works with, or on top of, steel!
  • 3.
  • 6. Magswitch Technology  What is it?  The Basics……….  Revolutionary new technology:  In switchable magnets …. Enabling use of magnetic tools not previously  practical.    Easy on off control: A simple 180 degree turn of the knob to full power.   Harnesses control over Powerful Rare  Earth magnets … without electricity.     Unprecedented Efficiency: Using the pole phase of two strong rare earth magnets in relation to each other,  the magnetic energy contained in the discs is either synchronized (on) when aligned north over north, or canceled (off)  when aligned north over south.   Competitive systems are bulky and inherently less efficient using common shunting  technology.   Magswitch actually results in a step up of the magnetic force in excess of the sum of the component  magnets.  Force control: Uniquely configured housing channels the direction of the magnetic force.    Scalable: Magswitch is scalable – various sizes.   Various shapes to grab flat and pipe.  Limitless Actuation.   The system can be turned on and off in a number of ways – such as manual, electric,  pneumatic, hydraulic, magnetically, remote control, etc.  The Sophisticated …..  Deep Magnetic Fields: Magswitch enables a deep penetrating focused magnetic field, yet Magswitch will also  hold stronger on thinner metals.   Performance that surpasses electromagnets without the cost, electricity, overheating  or size problems.  Shaping magnetic fields: Alignments of Magswitch in relation to each other allow the shaping of magnetic  fields to do things that were not previously achievable with other magnetic switching systems – including  electromagnets.    Examples include shallow yet strong fields for de‐stacking – or separating thin sheet.     Wide or  narrow fields.    Variable strength in the magnetic field through the actuation process – perfect for precision in  positioning.  Technology Innovations and Applications….  Auto switch: Magswitch engages automatically on contact with steel.  Your only action is to turn it off.  MagWheel:  Translating powerful magnetic force through steel wheels ‐ gripping pipe and flat surfaces during  travel.  Ideal for automated welding, inspection and material handling.  Green Technology:   Safety improvements and cost savings over electromagnets will convert use of  electromagnets to Magswitch.
  • 7. Magswitch and Welders  Why will every welder have Magswitch in their tool box? Point is that  the tools that are out there take set up time and clean up time.     Magswitch tools such as Squares and Angles are quick strong clamps, AND    1.

  • 12. Magswitch products utilize a patented process to switch Permanent Magnets on and off.  This creates the  most efficient and powerful magnets ever built!  This new technology allows Magswitch magnets the greatest  amount of sideways (shear force) holding power as well.    Magswitch uses pole phase alignment of two Rare Earth Neodymium Magnets.  When aligned opposite  each  other, (North to South) the magnetic energy is fully cancelled out.   When the user turns the knob 185 degrees  to the “ON” position, the magnets are now aligned together (North to North).   Magswitch’s patented housing  amplifies this energy and focuses this power in an extremely efficient manner.  This has never been done  before.  As a result of this controlled magnetic flow, Magswitch magnets are stronger on thinner metal, more  powerful on thicker metal and and have superior shear strength compared to any other magnets in the  industry today.            The most important features are:  1. Ability to turn off and turn on.  Without risk of damage to either surface, simply place  the magnet on the metal pieces, turn the handle to the “ON” position and your work is  held securely in position.  Turn the magnets to the “OFF” position to easily release the  material.  2. Easily moved or repositioned.  When turned “OFF”, Magswitch magnets can be  precisely positioned allowing for exact work placement before turning “ON”.

Incredibly, Payback on this industry specific tool was less than 2 days!   "The Magswitch will have applications that have not previously been possible, or considered practical, in the same way that the zipper replaced buttons many years ago, or in the same way epoxy resins replaced animal glues." A/Professor RC Cross, School of Physics UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY
  • 19. Frequently Asked  Questions        Question;   Why is Magswitch so special (different)?  Answer;   Magswitch Is patented technology and is different from all other magnetic devices on the  market today.  1. Magswitch harnesses the power of Two Magnets to create one that is more powerful for  its size than any other magnet in the industry today.  2. Utilizing Two Magnets, (diametrically opposed in their polarization), Magswitch can be  fully turned off. Magswitch is therefore able to be Air Shipped, Positioned, Handled  Safely, Removed and Cleaned of Debris that may be attracted to it.  3. Magswitch magnets are activated gradually as the user turns the knob or moves the  handle.  This allows for repositioning of the magnet or the steel so that it is precisely  aligned before welding or fabrication.  Once the material is in precise alignment, simply  turn the knob the rest of the way to lock in place and hold securely.  Question;    How are Magswitch magnets any different or better than existing  products?  Answer;    There are certainly other magnetic devices that are on the market today, Magswitch has  advantages and patented technology that no other magnet has.  1. Ability to turn completely off.  Other magnetic devices either turn off by prying the  magnet away from the face or, in the case of switchable magnets, by using a large piece  of steel (Shunt) to absorb as much magnetic energy as possible.  These all allow magnetic  energy to escape to some degree and do not actually turn the magnet off.   Because  Magswitch does not use Shunts, or Pry Away techniques, we can create smaller, more  powerful and more cost effective magnetic devices.  2. Electromagnets have been a favorite of material handling for many years.  Magswitch is  far smaller in size, lighter in weight, do not require electricity to operate and can last  indefinitely in the “ON” or the “OFF” positions.  Magswitch lifters are 100% duty cycle  rated as opposed to electromagnets that overheat at only a fraction of that usage.

Because Magswitch turns completely “OFF”, any metal debris from welding, grinding and  fabrication falls off when the magnet is turned “OFF”.  Any remaining fine metal dust that  remains is easily wiped away.  The dust has a slight magnetic charge, not the magnet!  Question;   How strong are the magnets, how much will they hold?  Answer;   This is the most difficult question to answer.  Let me explain why and give you a better idea of  how to qualify your customer.  1. The Magswitch device is only half of the equation.  The target that the magnet is holding  to is the other half, and is just as important.  While the Magswitch is the most powerful  magnet you can buy, as with all magnets, it must be attached to metal that fully absorbs  all of its magnetic energy.  In order to achieve the maximum holding power, the metal  surface has to meet the following criteria;    a. Smooth‐ Any Air Gap between the metal and the magnet will decrease the  holding power.  This is measured in Thousands of an inch.  Magswitch is stronger  in Air Gap performance, but this will still dramatically reduce the holding power.  b. Flat‐Air Gap will again decrease the holding power as above.  Round Stock and  Pipe will be held at about 50% of the comparable flat metal.  c. Clean‐Metal to metal contact is the key to maximum holding power.  d. Free of all debris, rust, paint, galvanization metal filings and debris, etc…  e. Non‐Bending, Non‐Flexing‐Material that can Peel Away will be more difficult to  lift or hold.    f. Thick enough to absorb all of the magnetic energy of the magnet.‐Magswitch is  able to hold thinner material better than any other magnet, but will still hold  thicker material better than thinner.  g. AISI1020 grade steel or equivalent.  All Ferromagnetic metals will be held,  however there is a predictable amount of DeRating that takes place when using  metals such as Nickel, Cast Iron, Grades of Stainless Steel, and various types and  grades of steel.    2. Magswitch will accommodate an Air Gap better than other magnets; however it is  critical to understand that any Air Gap, (measured in thousands of an inch) will have a  dramatic reduction in magnetic force.  Examples of Air Gaps that will have a negative  impact in hold are;  a. Galvanization  b. Chrome plating  c. Rust  d. Paint  e. Paper and any type of sticker or label
  • 21. Magswitch FAQ’s    f. Dust and metal filings  g. Texture or roughness of the surface  h. Waffling, lettering or surface shape.  Tree grates, drainage passages, holes in the  steel etc…   Question;   You talk about Magswitch MagSquares having Multi‐Plane Work  Holding, what does that mean?   Answer;   MagSquares are designed to hold on three planes, this allows for unparalleled fabrication, fit‐up  and welding ability.  The bottom of the MagSquare has the greatest amount of holding  power, subject to the holding power discussed in the answer above.  The two “Arched” sides  have approximately half the holding power of the bottom.  The two “Non‐Arched” sides have  a small amount of magnetic force as well.    1. What this means is that when placed on a fit up table, the MagSquare will securely hold  material on the bottom, strongly on two sides, and even on the other two sides as well.   Three dimensional fabrication is now possible, metal holding without the use of clamps,  holding steel without the risk of scratching or leaving clamp marks and holding metal in  place where a clamp cannot be located.   2. For the first time, users can precisely position, reposition, install and remove a welding  magnet without the magnets getting in the way.  When the magnets are in the “OFF”  position you will not have to struggle and fight the magnetic hold to precisely align the  metal pieces.  When the magnets are in the “ON” position, the steel will be held at  precise 90 degree angles to each other for quality fabrication.  Magswitch Hanging Hooks have holding power on their sides as well this allows for the hanging  of Nuts, Bolts, Small Tools etc to the sides.  This effect is strongest when the magnet is placed  on a surface that is thinner metal, or has paint, rust, etc. causing the magnet to be held less  strongly.    Question;  What are the holes in the sides of the MagSquares for?  Answer;  1. MagSquares are designed to have any non‐ferrous material attached to them by the  user to create the perfect homemade jig or fixture.  Magswitch recommends such  materials as Aluminum, Wood, and UHMW Plastic for this attachment.  The use of
  • 22. Magswitch FAQ’s    ferrous metals is possible; Magswitch recommends that they only be attached to the  Non‐Arched sides to preserve the maximum holding power of the base.  Non‐Ferrous  spacers should be used between the steel material and the base to decrease the loss of  power that occurs when steel is attached to the sides.  2. MagSquares are also ideal for attaching to a fit up table, stationary jig or fixture, or used  inside of a machine.  Using the holes provided these MagSquares can be easily mounted  for repetitive holding without clamps or external power.    Question;   Why are some of the magnets so difficult to turn on?  Answer;   It is important to understand that there are only two magnets inside the housings, nothing  more.  Because the Magswitch patented technology uses diametrically opposed magnets,  they are naturally inclined to stay in the “OFF” position (remember, opposites attract).   When you try and turn them “ON” you are fighting the power of the two magnets.  When  you go to turn them “OFF”, they will try and go back to their natural state quickly and  powerfully.  Some magnets cannot be turned “ON” unless in contact with steel at the risk of  bodily injury!   1. When the magnets are placed on to Ferromagnetic steel, their magnetic energy is  absorbed by the steel.  Technically speaking, the Magnetic Circuit (north and south) is  completed in the target.  This means that you do not have to work as hard to turn them  “ON”.  2. One indicator of the holding power you can expect from the metal that you are attached  to is how difficult it is to turn the magnet “ON” When on a piece of steel that absorbs  the energy the best, it will be very easy to turn the Magswitch magnets “ON”  If you  place the magnet on a piece of steel that does not absorb very much of the magnetic  energy, it will still be more difficult, or impossible to turn the magnet “ON”  This is a  good general indicator of hold.  Refer to the first question for examples of conditions  that will reduce holding power and increase the effort required to turn the magnet  “ON”.
  • 23. Magswitch FAQ’s    Question;   Your labels and Owner’s manuals tell me to leave the magnets “OFF”  when not in use, will it hurt the magnets if I leave them “ON”,  Can I store them “ON”?  Answer;   Magswitch magnets are designed to last a lifetime without wearing out.  They can be turned  “ON” or “OFF” indefinitely without harm.  Magswitch recommends that they be left in the  “OFF” position at all times when not in use for the following reasons only;  1. The magnets are extremely powerful when turned “ON”.  Should they be left “ON”,  items in the immediate vicinity may become attracted to them, or electronics nearby  may be damaged.  2. When transporting a magnet that is “ON”, it may be suddenly and powerfully attracted  to a steel object causing personal injury or damage to the surfaces or devices.  3. It is perfectly acceptable to store a magnet in the “ON” position such as a hook or  square on the side of a tool box or building beam.    Question;   What will harm my magnets, what do I have to be careful of?  Answer;   Magswitch magnets are impervious to most things that cause damage.  Shocks, Vibration, Cold  and most Heat will not harm them.  The housings are made of Steel that is plated to reduce  corrosion.    1. Rust will affect the operation and holding strength.  We recommend a light coat of oil as  needed to keep the housing from rusting.  DO not immerse or subject the housings to  water as this may allow water to enter the housing and cause rust internally.  2. The magnets are not designed to be subjected to temperatures above 176 degrees  Fahrenheit, 80 Celsius.  Above this temperature the magnets may lose their magnetism.   Always remove the magnets from a heat source, such as a welding location, after a tack  weld to prevent excessive heat transfer.  3. Excessive cold temperatures may cause the grease inside the magnets to become thick  and stiff causing the magnet to be more difficult to turn on and off.  This will not harm  the magnet, and it will return to its normal state when warmed up.  4. Burrs and damage to the bottom of magnet housing will also create an air gap and  decrease performance.  Should it become necessary, Magswitch recommends 400 grit  sandpaper and a flat surface to reflatten and remove burrs on the bottom.

Part Number 110178 Revision Date, October 16, 2008 Welding Ground Clamp Operation and Instruction Manual Magswitch Technology Inc. 621 Southpark Dr. #1800 Littleton, CO 80120 www.Magswitch.com.au This Magswitch Welding Ground Clamp is designed to hold a ground cable to any Ferromagnetic Surface. Using Patented Technology, this device has tremendous holding power as well as a great amount of Shear Force Holding Strength to reduce sideways movement. Read all instructions! Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in an unsafe or dangerous condition. General Information o All magnets need to be kept at a safe distance from all magnetic storage devices, electronics and credit cards etc. o Ensure that the Ground Clamp is stored in the “off” position when not in contact with Ferromagnetic metals. The Magnet can be left ON or OFF indefinitely without harm. When ON and near Ferromagnetic metals there will be a sudden and powerful attraction. o Never use a Welding Ground Clamp to lift or transport any materials. o DO NOT attempt to disassemble or alter the Welding Ground Clamp; there are no user serviceable parts inside the device. o All Magswitch products are designed for normal work/jobsite conditions, do not use underwater or in a hazardous environment unless specifically designed for that purpose. o DO NOT use the Magswitch Welding Ground Clamp if it is damaged or is not working properly. Severe injury can occur if this device is not used properly and safely. o DO NOT expose the Ground Clamp to temperatures above 176 deg Fahrenheit (80 Celsius). High temperatures will permanently degrade the magnet’s effectiveness and may result in an unsafe condition. Properly grounded, and used at or below the rated amperage, the Ground Clamp will not get excessively warm. o This product contains PTFE lubricant. For MSDS information contact Magswitch. o Always keep the bottom of the magnet clean and free of debris and rust. If needed wipe with WD40 or light oil o To avoid excessive heat and particle infiltration, do not place the magnet in flux while flux welding. To Use the Welding Ground Clamp o Attach the ground lug to the bolt on the Ground Clamp. Tighten the nut securely. o DO NOT attach any other ground clamp to this Magnetic Ground clamp as this will degrade the performance and cause excessive heat or arcing. o Ensure that the ground wire is of the correct gauge to handle the amperage of the welder. (See welder owner’s manual for specific information). o Ensure that the entire Ground Clamp bottom is in contact with bare metal. Less than 100% contact may cause arcing or excessive heat buildup. o Never strike a test arc off of the Welding Clamp. o For proper operation and to avoid overheating, do not place the Welding Ground Clamp less than Three (3) Inches from the weld point. o Never exceed the rated amp range of the ground clamp. Excess Amperage can cause overheating or damage to the unit. o If the Magnetic Ground Clamp is found to be overheated, remove from all sources of heat quickly and cool by spraying a light lubricant on the magnet, or by placing in a cool dry location. o The Magswitch Ground Clamp is designed to be placed on most sizes of Round Stock or Pipe using the ‘V Groove’ in the bottom. Ensure that the pipe is along the length of the V groove, not sideways to the groove. (See illustration below) o In all cases, ensure that the Ground Clamp does not move, rock or rotate while in use. Ensure that the position of the cable is such that the Ground Clamp is not pulled or twisted upon when in use. o Always test the connection before attempting to use the Ground Clamp to ensure that it is capable of holding to the material securely. o Numerous factors can negatively affect the strength of the Magnetic bond or cause arcing, dirt, debris, oils and grease, painted surfaces and any gap between the Magnet and the metal surface will decrease the bond and may cause arcing. Ensure that the connection point is clean and free of these factors. o Thicker metals will be held more strongly than thinner metals. E.g.: 1/4" steel will be held more strongly than thin gauge metals. Thin metals will allow the Ground Clamp to slide. Use of a backing plate will help to hold more securely when placed on thin metals. o Always turn the clamp off and clear the Ground Clamp of all debris, slag etc… before attaching to a Ferromagnetic surface. o Always ensure that the Ground Clamp is on clear and clean metal to eliminate the possibility of arcing, excessive heat buildup or damage to the metal. o Always ensure that the ground wire is securely connected to the Magswitch Ground Clamp to prevent arcing or overheating. o Avoid sudden jerking or Shock force as this will cause the Ground Clamp to lose its hold. o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet face smooth using 400 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact.
  • 30. Welding Clamp Operation 1. Expose fresh metal by grinding or scraping away any debris, paint, contaminants, rust or other substance that would prevent complete contact. 2. Attach the ground clamp to the bare metal 3. Turn the ground clamp ON and ensure a secure hold that will not move. 4. Perform the welding operation 5. It is not possible to hold the Ground Clamp in place unless fully turned on. DO NOT turn on unless in contact with metal! Damage to surfaces may occur or debris may be attracted that will cause arcing. o To release the Ground Clamp turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The Ground Clamp will turn off and release Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the Ground Clamp and that nothing will fall or become dangerous. o This Ground Clamp is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; Magswitch Welding Ground Clamps are exceptionally strong in Shear Force as well. Prying force is the least powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used when attempting to use this device with Pry force. See illustrations below. This will keep the magnetic grip at its most powerful. o Magswitch recommends that Stainless Steel screws be used to attach non-Ferromagnetic materials to the sides when used as a holder for your Jig or Fixture. Wood, Plastics and Aluminum are all non-Ferromagnetic materials that make for excellent attachments. Alternatively non-Ferromagnetic spacers can be placed between the MagSquare and the jig/fixture o This MagSquare is not designed to be used as a welding ground clamp or as part of an electrical circuit. o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet face smooth using 400 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact. o As with all precision devices, damage can occur from dropping, bumping and impact. Magswitch recommends periodic inspection by the user to ensure that the 90 degree angles are still accurate and the MagSquare still fits their needs. MagSquare Operation o The handle on this MagSquare must be turned clockwise 180 degrees until it stops in order to be turned “ON”. It is not possible to hold the Magnet in place unless fully turned “ON”. o DO NOT turn ON unless in contact with Ferromagnetic Metal o To release the MagSquare push the handle down and turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The MagSquare will turn off and release Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the MagSquare and that nothing will fall or become dangerous. o Always turn off power tools before turning the MagSquare ON or OFF to avoid injury. o This MagSquare is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; MagSquares are exceptionally strong in Shear Force as well. Prying force is the least powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used when attempting to use this device with Pry force. See illustrations below. Ideal for holding material in place when on any cast iron or steel surface including; 9 Table Saw 9 Planer 9 Jointer 9 Shaper 9 Steel Router Table top 9 Band Saws 9 Drill Presses 9 Steel Fit-Up Table 9 Welding Table 9 Steel Pipe 9 Flat Stock 9 Bar Stock 9 Angle Iron 9 Structural Steel 9 Vehicle Frame/Chassis 9 Shop Machinery 9 And more! ¾ MagSquares are precision machined to hold Ferromagnetic material at 90 angles. They are perfectly suited to work-holding applications when you are holding any Ferro-Magnetic substance such as steel plate, angle iron, pipe, and rod and bar stock. ¾ While the greatest holding power is straight down to the table, the two sides of the MagSquare that have arches in the bottom have very powerful magnetic attraction forces as well. Temperatures above 176 degrees internal will permanently degrade the magnetic power and holding strength. Magswitch recommends a tack weld only to keep the heat transfer to a minimum. To help reduce heat buildup, keep the MagSquare at least 3 inches from the welding point and remove after the tack weld. ¾ Attaching Ferromagnetic metals to the sides of the MagSquare will reduce the magnetic hold of the bottom as this force is now shared among more than one direction. ¾ The holes are approximately ¼ inch deep, please add this amount to the thickness of your attached material to determine the fastener length required. Industrial/Fabrication Applications: MagSquares are ideal for replacing many types of clamps in a repetitive assembly or fabrication shop application. Varying hold force throughout the actuation cycle from OFF to ON, Precise positioning is achieved through adjusting the hold force while moving your material. 9 Non Marring Unlike traditional clamps, MagSquares will hold materials at any angle without damaging or marring the surfaces. 9 When attached to a Ferromagnetic repetitive assembly fixture for permanent or semi-permanent mounting, insert a non-Ferromagnetic spacer between the MagSquare and the Ferromagnetic metal frame. This will ensure that maximum magnetic energy is directed into the bottom of the housing. 9 MagSquares can easily be mounted or used lying on their sides, either on a steel fit-up table or in an assembly fixture. This allows for maximum magnetic hold to be in a direction of your choosing. 9 MagSquares are ideal for clean up after work. Picks up nuts, bolts, screws, scrap metal and shavings. Turn the MagSquare OFF to instantly release the material, wipe off any remaining shavings and it is ready for use again. 9 Makes a perfect repetitive work stop when attached to any Ferromagnetic table top or vise. Automotive and Body Shop Applications: 9 Quick, Strong Workholding. Ideal for holding and aligning parts when assembling a frame or chassis. Anytime a quick weld or precise assembly is required- MagSquare is the answer! 9 Support Large Awkward Parts. Use one or more MagSquares to create a powerful support hold when working underneath a vehicle. Perfect for Mufflers, CV Axles, calipers and more. With multi-plane work holding capability, the MagSquare will hold most weld on parts securely to the side, while remaining positioned on the frame. Magswitch recommends that a tack weld be used to avoid overheating the MagSquare. • 46. 90 Degree Angle Usage Manual-(30 and 50mm) ¾ This 90 Degree Angle is capable of holding up to 4 MagSquares in a precise 90 degree orientation. It is perfectly suited to work-holding applications when you are holding any Ferromagnetic substance such as steel plate, angle iron, pipe, and rod and bar stock. ¾ As with all precision devices, damage can occur from dropping, bumping and impact. Magswitch recommends periodic inspection by the user to ensure that the 90 degree angle is still accurate and fits their needs. ¾ While these Angles are sold with Two MagSquares up to two additional MagSquares of the same size can be added to provide greater hold and greater stability. Push down on the side plates until they are flat on the surface and hold while tightening the screws. Check that the magnet bottoms are flush to the side plates for proper performance. ¾ It is important to ensure that all four Magnets are oriented the same way. All “ON” indicators face the same way or the magnetic fields can interact resulting in dramatically reduced holding power. Lightly tighten the screws, adjust the metal until the joint fits, and turn the magnets “ON”. Tighten the screws and continue. Repetitive assemblies will require no further adjustment. ¾ Never turn the magnets on when not in contact with metal. Sudden impact to the metal can occur causing personal injury or damage to the surfaces. ¾ Always test the hold of the Magnets to ensure that it is sufficient to secure the material in place without slipping or falling. ¾ When finished, push down and turn the Magnets handle counter clockwise 180 degrees to the “OFF” position, taking care that nothing will fall or become a hazard as the magnets will release their hold immediately. ¾ When used for material holding for metals that are to be welded, be careful not to overheat the magnets. Temperatures above 176 degrees Fahrenheit internal will permanently degrade the magnetic power and holding strength. Magswitch recommends a tack weld only to keep the heat transfer to a minimum. Magswitch recommends a minimum of 3 inches from the magnet to the weld point, and that the magnet be removed immediately after the tack weld to reduce heat transfer. ¾ Holes are provided so that the 90 Degree Angle can be secured to a repetitive assembly fixture or an assembly table. Using the holes it is possible to move the existing magnets to better hold your material, or to add up to two additional magnets for greater grip strength and holding power. Always use the stainless steel screws included when adding additional magnets. ¾ 30mm Squares require M5 x .8 fasteners. Holes are approximately ¼” (6 mm) deep. ¾ 50mm Squares require M6 x 1.0 fasteners. Holes are approximately 3/8” (9 mm) deep. ¾ Additional screws and washers are included for mounting additional MagSquares 30mm Version Part Number 110042 Revision Date, October 16, 2008 VERY IMPORTANT! Correct orientation of Magnets in Square. All “ON” facing same way (30 and 50mm) For best holding power. Use only Stainless steel screws (included) to attach Squares to plate. Always test this hold to ensure that nothing moves or causes a pinch point. o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet face smooth using 400 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact. Boomerangle Operation o The magnet handles on this Magswitch Boomerangle must be turned clockwise 180 degrees until they stop in order to be turned “ON”. It is not possible to hold the Magnets in place unless fully turned on. o DO NOT turn on unless in contact with Ferromagnetic Metal! The magnet can be left ON or OFF indefinitely without harm. When ON, and near a Ferromagnetic object, the magnet will attract suddenly and powerfully possibly causing damage to the surfaces or the user. o To release the Magnets push the handle down and turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The Magnets will turn off and release Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the Magnets and that nothing will fall or become dangerous. o Always turn off power tools before turning the MagSquare ON or Off to avoid injury o This Magswitch Boomerangle is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; Magswitch Magnets are exceptionally strong in Shear Force as well. Prying force is the least powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used when attempting to use this device with Pry force. See Illustrations below. • 50. Part Number 110176 Revision Date, October 16, 2008 Boomerangle Usage Manual-(30 and 50mm) ¾ This Boomerangle is perfectly suited to work-holding applications when holding any Ferromagnetic substance such as steel plate, angle iron, pipe, and rod and bar stock. ¾ As with all precision devices, damage can occur from dropping, bumping and impact. Magswitch recommends periodic inspection by the user to ensure that the Boomerangle is still accurate and fits their needs. ¾ This Boomerangle is equipped with two ratcheting knobs to tighten/loosen the magnets. They can be pulled out and rotated to be in the most comfortable location during use. ¾ It is possible to remove the knobs and posts on one side of the 50 mm magnets in order to lay the Boomerangle flat. Be sure to test the strength of the magnetic hold and position to ensure that the material is held safely. (Applies to 50 mm Boomerangle only). ¾ The magnets can be turned to provide for either an Inside or Outside angle. They are limited by a slot in the side plates which allows for free movement in a 180 degree arc. Do not force the magnets to rotate, loosen the knobs and turn the magnets before tightening the knobs securely. ¾ To use the Boomerangle, simply position the material exactly as required then turn the handle clockwise 180 degrees until it locks in place to the “ON” position. As you turn the handle, the magnetic grip increases allowing for accurate positioning until fully held in place. ¾ Never turn the magnets on when not in contact with Ferromagnetic metal. Sudden impact to the metal can occur causing personal injury or damage to the surfaces. ¾ Always test the hold of the Magnets to ensure that it is sufficient to secure the material in place without slipping or falling. ¾ When finished, Push down and turn the Magnet’s handle counter clockwise until is stops turning to the “OFF” position, taking care that nothing will fall or become a hazard as the magnets will release their hold immediately. ¾ When used for material holding for metals that are to be welded, be careful not to overheat the magnets. Temperatures above 176 degrees internal will permanently degrade the magnetic power and holding strength. Magswitch recommends a tack weld only to keep the heat transfer to a minimum.

Part Number 110139 Revision Date, October 16, 2008 Extend-A-Lift Operation and Instruction Manual Magswitch Technology Inc. 621 Southpark Dr. #1800 Littleton, CO 80120 www.Magswitch.com.au This Magswitch Extend-A-Lift is designed to lift steel plate, pipe, bar and rod stock, flat stock or angle iron. Using Patented Technology, this device has tremendous holding power as well as a great amount of Shear Force Holding Strength to prevent sideways movement. Read all instructions! Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in an unsafe or dangerous condition. General Information o All Magnets need to be kept at a safe distance from all Magnetic storage devices, electronics and credit cards etc… o Ensure that the Extend-A-Lift is stored in the “OFF” position when not in contact with ferrous metals. The Extend-A-Lift can be left ON or OFF indefinitely without harm. When ON and near Ferrous metals there will be a sudden and powerful attraction. o Never use an Extend-A-Lift to lift Heavy materials, although it is ideal for light weight metal, debris cleanup, nuts and bolts, metal shavings, etc… o DO NOT attempt to disassemble or alter the Magswitch Extend-A-Lift; there are no user serviceable parts inside the device. o All Magswitch products are designed for normal work/jobsite conditions, do not use underwater or in a hazardous environment unless specifically designed for that purpose. o DO NOT use the Extend-A-Lift if it is damaged or is not working properly. Severe injury can occur if this device is not used properly and safely. o DO NOT expose the Magswitch Magnets to temperatures above 176 deg Fahrenheit (80 Celsius). High temperatures will permanently degrade the Magnet’s effectiveness and may result in an unsafe condition. o Never use an Extend-A-Lift for OVERHEAD LIFTING or to transport materials higher than necessary. o Not recommended for painted or finish coated surfaces as these will reduce the magnetic bond and the finish may be damaged. o This product contains PTFE lubricant. For MSDS information contact Magswitch. o Always keep the bottom of the magnet clean and free of debris and rust. If needed wipe with WD40 or light oil To Use the Extend-A-Lift o Always test the connection before attempting to use the Extend-A-Lift to ensure that it is capable of holding the material securely. o Numerous factors can negatively affect the strength of the Magnetic bond, dirt, debris, oils and grease, painted surfaces and any gap between the Magnet and the metal surface will decrease the bond. Ensure that the connection point is clean and free of these factors. o Thicker metals will be held more strongly than thinner metals. E.g.: 1/4" steel will be held more strongly than thin gauge metals. o Never exceed the rated capacity of the Extend-A-Lift. Extend-A-Lifts have up to 500 lbs of Break-Away Force under ideal conditions. Tested in accordance with International Magnetics Association testing methods and represents a straight Break-Away pull. Actual in-use results will vary greatly and user must test every bond to determine the suitability of the magnet to hold the material. o Lift the material 1-3 inches off the ground to ensure that the magnet is capable of holding the weight safely. Gently shake the magnet with the material attached to ensure that the bond is sufficient to handle a full lift without breaking away. o Ensure that the magnet is centered on the material being lifted. Material may slide off of the magnet if it is not held in a horizontal position. o Always ensure that when stacked sheets are present, that only one sheet is being lifted at a time. o Extend-A-Lifts are rated to carry up to 70 lbs of material, under ideal conditions, o Avoid sudden jerking or Shock force as this will cause the Extend-A-Lift to lose its hold. o Operator shall immediately stop using the lifting Magnet if any improper performance or conditions exist during the lift. o This Magnetic lifter is designed for straight, flat horizontal lifting, never allow a lifted object to alter is plane from horizontal. o Never stand under load being lifted or place any part of your body under the load. o DO NOT lift a load higher than necessary. o Only use Magnetic lifts on material that does not flex or bend. o Always ensure that the full face of the Magnet is in contact with the load. o Always ensure that the lifted materials will not come in to contact with any obstruction or body part while being carried. o This Extend-A-Lift is not designed to be used as a welding ground clamp or as part of an electrical circuit. o For safe operation, the bottom surface of the Magnet must always be Flat and Smooth. If necessary, it is possible to sand the Magnet face smooth using 400 grit sandpaper and a flat surface. Always file any burrs that would interfere with full contact. Extend-A-Lift Operation o The handle on this Extend-A-Lift must be turned clockwise 180 degrees until it stops in order to be turned “ON”. It is not possible to hold the Magnet in place unless fully turned “ON”. o For ease of use always place foot on Foot Plate to hold Extend-A-Lift in place when turning ON. o DO NOT turn ON unless in contact with Ferrous Metal o To release the Extend-A-Lift push down and turn the handle in the counter clockwise direction until it stops. The Extend-A-Lift will turn off and release Immediately upon turning the handle, Use Caution to ensure that it is safe to release the Extend-A-Lift and that nothing will fall or become dangerous. o This Extend-A-Lift is capable of exceptional Break-Away force holding power; Extend-A-Lifts are exceptionally strong in Shear Force as well. Prying force is the least powerful of the holding capabilities and great care must be used when attempting to use this device with Pry force. See illustrations below.
