1. ED T C 524 C ourse O verview
This course focuses on the utilization of design principles to
effectively communicate instructional and professional materials
prepared for the classroom, school/district, and professional
development use. Implications on the educational experience of
teachers, students, and administrators are also explored.
Working in collaboration with other class members, students
design an educational presentation/product for professional use.
2. ED T C 524 C ourse O verview
The assignments and learning activities in this course, as well as
EDTC518 are intended to go hand-in-hand to provide a bigger
picture perspective of what it takes to design and deliver a
meaningful, effective, truly global online learning experience as
well as to become familiar with the role of an educational
technology facilitator.
3. ED T C 524 Instructional D esign & D evelopment:
A nalysis & D esign
In this course, EDTC524, we will review all the phases of ADDIE
model, but will focus on the Analysis and Design phases to design
a lesson plan that could be linked to a bigger idea that fosters
learning at a global level. The resulting lesson plan may or may
not necessarily become the content of your GLP.
During these two initial phases of the ADDIE process, we will use
the Backwards Design planning tool, which offers a methodology
for designing learning that is more specifically geared toward the
development of learning for K-12 classrooms.
4. ED T C 523 Educational A pplications of
H ypermedia: D evelopment
In EDTC523 we will walk through the heart of the Development
phase in the ADDIE process.
Through iterative design and development stages, you will be able
to refine your work in progress throughout courses.
In subsequent coursework you will move in to the
Implementation and Evaluation phases of ADDIE.
5. Virtual Presence
Your presence and participation at online meetings are required.
One-on-one online meetings are required and available by
appointment.
I am available via Skype from 10 am to 4 pm PST Mon. - Fri. and
other times by appointment. Available via email during normal
business hours Mon. - Fri. (Pacific time) and limited access
evenings and weekends.
6. A bout G rading
Grades will be entered the week following the prior session's
submitted assignments or discussion posts. Grade points are
reduced for late assignments. Deadlines are 11:59 pm (Pacific
time) of the assigned due date, unless specified otherwise.
Discussions are open only during the start and end dates of their
assigned sessions.
