 Man has always been a curious being. He keeps on
trying to progress and make his life more comfortable
and happier.
 There were few great man who lived and worked for
others.
 These people are immortal because through they are no
more with us, their memory is fresh in our minds.
 Socrates was a great philosopher and a popular
teacher.
 He lived about 2400 years. Socrates believed in truth,
the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
 Socrates method of asking questions so as to discover
the truth was known as “SOCRATIC METHOD”
 One of the famous quotes of Socrates was “One should
reason out things and not blindly follow what is told or
taught by others”.
 His another quote was-
 Socrates was sentenced to death by drinking a cup of
poison called “HEMLOCK”.
 Abraham Lincoln was the 16th and one of the greatest
presidents of America.
 Lincoln was known as the “GREAT EMANCIPATOR”
because his only aim in life was to make America a
democratic nation where the blacks and the whites
could enjoy equal status.
 He was also a wrestler.
 Abraham Lincoln was born of poor parents on 12th
february,1809.His father was a farmer. Abraham
studied in the local school.
 He became the president of America in 1860.
 Lincoln was elected as the president the second time
too in 1865.
 He established his name as honest and believed in the
equality of man. Thus he became immortal.
 Karl Marx was born at a time when there was a
desperate need for change in society.
 The industrial revolution had given rise to the
establishment of big factories by the capitalists.
 He expounded his theories in his 2 books-
COMMUNIST MANIFESTO and DAS KAPITAL.
 Karl Marx was a German. He started his career by
editing radical newspaper.
 Marx was born in 1818 to rich parents. While in Paris ,
he stuck up a friendship with Friedrich Engels but his
stay in Paris was short.
 HE DIED IN 1883.Hence,a man named Lenin
immortalised him.
 Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2,1869 at
Porbandar in Gujrat.
 His father was the Diwan of Rajkot.
 Gandhi ji inspired self confidence in the people. But
his struggle was peaceful as he had adopted the path of
Ahimsa . It was based on truth. So he named it
“Satyagraha”.
 Finally, he succeeded in his missions.
 Gandhi ji worked hard for the upliftment of the
scheduled castes whom he called Harijans. He was a
simple man who believed in simple living and high
thinking.
 GANDHI JI is loved and people called him “THE
FATHER OF THE NATION.”
 Dr. Martin Luther king was a black American.
 Martin started a movement to achieve equal rights for
American Negroes.
 He was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and his movement
was also very peaceful.
 He was shot dead by a white American called James Earl Roy
in April 1968.
Luther s famous quote is “I AM NOT A TOURIST. I HAVE
COME ON A PILGRIMAGE TO PAY HOMAGE TO
THIS HOLY LAND OF GANDHI JI.”
