Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark
Twain) was born April 21 of 1839
He published more than 30 books in his
career

entitled “Innocents Abroad”
3. MARK TWAIN
Twain is one of the most quoted American
authors due to his well-placed humor and his
ability to write in such a way that the reader
can readily identify with the character.

read good books has no
advantage over the man
who can't read them."

5. Many of us grew up with the stories of Tom
Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. These are
some of Twain’s best loved character’s and
their adventures have transcended
generations.
Walt Disney World even has a whole island
dedicated to Tom Sawyer and his adventures.

6. He even has an award named after him!
The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor was
established in 1998 and it is awarded to those that
have impacted American society in ways similar to
that of Twain.
8. Mark Twain and Social Media
Most people living now only have one facebook page. Mark
Twain has two posthumous FB fan pages that have been set
up by fans so that they can connect over their shared love of
Twain’s writings. This shows that social media can keep alive
the memories and works of great people of the past.
9. This is an amusing article that speculates how
Mark Twain would use social media if It had
been around when he was alive.
There are many sites that speak of what
Twain’s reaction would have been if he had
been able to see what social media is.

10. Few people have had such an impact through comical
writings in the way that Twain has. He will remain one
of my favorite authors as his works never get old even
after they have been read many times. I never thought
there were any great American authors until I started
reading Mark Twain’s books.
