Shemeka is a shy, anti-social teenager who fears being hurt by people she trusts. She believes she is surrounded by fake friends who talk badly about her behind her back. While she plays it cool and acts like she doesn't care what others think, Shemeka secretly plans her revenge against those who have wronged her. She has a difficult relationship with her controlling mother and wishes they didn't have to see each other as much. Shemeka often wonders if she could have a better life with new friends, different parents, and a changed personality.

Shemeka is very shy individual who seems to be very anti social with an outgoing personality. She tries to hide
her inner emotions from the world and appears to be a cold hearted person. Her biggest fear is to be hurt by the
people she trust and this leads to her not trust anyone completely. In her views she is mostly surrounded by
fake friends who pretend to be a real friend to her. In return behind her back they speak badly of her and ‘stabs
her in the back’. Shemeka seems to learn this the hard way by being told by someone who she once trusted.
Although she feels alone in the world she doesn’t make it appears obvious but plays the same game her ‘friends’
play. Her ‘friends’ believe that she is clueless to what happens but she only plays the fool that they think she is.
In the end she might just come out victorious and make them feel all the hurt.
From the perspectives that I’m given it is evident that Shemeka is very revengeful and takes a few things to
heart. She portraits a don’t care attitude and could carless of what people thinks of her and sometimes comes
off being bitchy. She is not straight forward and likes to keep things to herself. Although she have her issues
she is like every other teenager, but differs in some aspects. Her nonchalance behavior towards everything
affects the people closest to her but she really doesn’t care. When the arrow points to her mother we see the
picture that neither of them can stand each other. It is of the fact that Shemeka really dislike her mother, this
is evident because of her behavior towards her mother. Sometimes she wishes to have the relation whereby she
doesn’t see her mother as much. For instance, when she is going to school her mother is sleeping and when she
returns from school her mother is at work. In that case they hardly speak or see each other. Reason being why
she dislikes her mother so much is because her mother thinks that whatever she does Shemeka is suppose to sit
and take it without any say. However, Shemeka is a very stubborn teenager who rebels when she think she’s
right and she hates to be controlled.
Many times Shemeka sits and wonders if her life could be different. Better! A new life, new friend different
parents and a different personality
