PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN POST COVID-19
The pandemic of COVID-19 can be said to be nature's biological war against mankind. During this period the life has stopped still with no movement among the fellow beings, no meetings, no gossips, no temples, mosques, churches, synagogues, no hotels, no pictures, no vehicles, no business, no jobs, non-availability of groceries and daily needs with ease, no sports, no politics and because of this the overall system and many private and public sectors viz., monitory, medical, banking, business, industries, employment, tourism etc., has collapsed to much of an extent, physical education and sports being no exception to it. In this context there is much of the possibility that the following changes in the perspective and dimensions may be observed in the field of physical education and sports:
1. The concept of fitness may change its perspective and it will more to be stressed on the immune system of the individual than the muscular form, toning of muscles, cardio-respiratory efficiency, etc.,
2. The concept of longevity may take the ‘U’ turn and will land on the vastness and fulfillment of life.
3. The days may not be counted, but the day may be lived to its fullest, due to firmness of belief on uncertainty of life.
4. The training schedule may be programmed to the present day instead of yearly, monthly or weekly, but will have the base of long term plans.
5. The weightage of the nutritional plans may be more than the physical training plans.
6. The importance of dietitian may definitely be highlighted.
7. The Indian culture of exercises may get a boost as it supports all lifestyles and processes.
8. The foods chosen may be more from vegetarian than animal products and foods.
9. The burden may be laid on the seasonal vegetables and fruits in regular diet.
10. Awareness on the cleaning and hygiene of self and surroundings may be observed strictly.
11. More often collective recreational activities may be highlighted.
12. Many may allot time for family gatherings, hiking, trekking, cycling, swimming, tours, recreational games, etc.
13. Much of the stress may be laid on indoor activities with friends and families.
14. Adultery in sports Competition may be observed rarely or may be vanished for all.
15. Much of the sports complexes, walking and jogging tracks, swimming pools and other sports infrastructure may be overpopulated.
16. The importance of physical education lectures and practicals may be seen in schooling curriculum.
17. Curriculum of physical education may be revised under the purview of pandemic and forthcoming biological hazards.
18. The weightage on the scoring marks in physical education subject may be stressed instead on mathematics, physics, chemistry or biology.
19. Every individual at school and college may be entrusted to take part in sports and physical education activities.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
IN POST COVID-19
2. The pandemic of COVID-19 can be said to be nature's biological war against
mankind. During this period the life has stopped still with no movement among
the fellow beings, no meetings, no gossips, no temples, mosques, churches,
synagogues, no hotels, no pictures, no vehicles, no business, no jobs, non-
availability of groceries and daily needs with ease, no sports, no politics and
because of this the overall system and many private and public sectors viz.,
monitory, medical, banking, business, industries, employment, tourism etc., has
collapsed to much of an extent, physical education and sports being no
exception to it. In this context there is much of the possibility that the following
changes in the perspective and dimensions may be observed in the field of
physical education and sports:
Introduction
3. 1. The concept of fitness may change its perspective and it will more
to be stressed on the immune system of the individual than the muscular
form, toning of muscles, cardio-respiratory efficiency, etc.,
2. The concept of longevity may take the ‘U’ turn and will land on the
vastness and fulfillment of life.
3. The days may not be counted, but the day may be lived to its
fullest, due to firmness of belief on uncertainty of life.
4. The training schedule may be programmed to the present day
instead of yearly, monthly or weekly, but will have the base of long term
plans.
5. The weightage of the nutritional plans may be more than the
physical training plans.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
4. 6. The importance of dietitian may definitely be highlighted.
7. The Indian culture of exercises may get a boost as it supports all
lifestyles and processes.
8. The foods chosen may be more from vegetarian than animal
products and foods.
9. The burden may be laid on the seasonal vegetables and fruits in
regular diet.
10. Awareness on the cleaning and hygiene of self and surroundings may
be observed strictly.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
5. 11. More often collective recreational activities may be highlighted.
12. Many may allot time for family gatherings, hiking, trekking, cycling,
swimming, tours, recreational games, etc.
13. Much of the stress may be laid on indoor activities with friends and
families.
14. Adultery in sports Competition may be observed rarely or may be
vanished for all.
15. Much of the sports complexes, walking and jogging tracks,
swimming pools and other sports infrastructure may be overpopulated.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
6. 16. The importance of physical education lectures and practicals may be
seen in schooling curriculum.
17. Curriculum of physical education may be revised under the purview
of pandemic and forthcoming biological hazards.
18. The weightage on the scoring marks in physical education subject
may be stressed instead on mathematics, physics, chemistry or biology.
19. Every individual at school and college may be entrusted to take part
in sports and physical education activities.
20. Recreational and fitness oriented sports may be preferred to that of
Competitive sports.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
7. 21. Every individual will be made aware about the importance of sports
and physical education as the limitations of the rich persons or celebrities
to escape from the clutches of COVID-19 is witnessed.
22. The wholesome fitness program for family will be stressed more
than the individual fitness program.
23. The pooling system may be on priority to catch up with physical
education and sports activities.
24. Present facilities for physical activities may be insufficient.
25. The government policies regarding sports and physical education
may be on priority list.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
8. 26. The developed countries also faced the havoc of COVID-19 may
also restructure and modify their sports and physical education policies.
27. Governments on priority basis may invest funds in developing sports
infrastructure within the state and nation for the masses.
28. Local Governments like the municipality have to take initiatives to
develop small apparatus installation such as parallel bars, high bars for
pull-ups, jungle gyms, ladders, different shapes to develop coordination
abilities on the footpaths and the islands on the roads.
29. To raise the funds, the government has to induce lotteries, in the
name of development of sports infrastructure and physical education
facilities.
30. Sports related cess may be introduced in the income tax.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
9. 31. The government should shoulder the responsibility on the sports directorate
and the physical education universities of taking care of health of the citizens
within the vicinity of the college or the sports development offices within the
district and the taluka.
32. More and more physical education universities should be established
within the state which on priority are assigned to take care of the health of the
citizens.
33. Payment distinction should be made on the basis of mentoring assigned
areas in relation to health and fitness. More payment should be given to the
sports or physical education teacher where there is less registration of patients
in the hospitals in the assigned area.
34. The government may promote the private clubs, such as fitness centers,
laughing clubs, fineness centers, recreational centers, different kinds of gyms
etc. in different places of the town and cities.
35. The new education policy may promote various short term courses which
creates awareness and provides various job and services opportunities.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
10. 36. The production in sports and fitness goods may show a hike with reduction
in prices for upliftment of awareness and inculcating fitness among the citizens,
special subsidies by the government may be announced for the goods.
37. Every industry may establish a fitness center for their employees on a
priority basis.
38. Many incentives may be announced by the private and public sector for
promoting fitness among the citizens.
39. The print and electronic media may encourage through various articles and
special pages for promotion of health and fitness.
40. More or less the parents may get aware and promote their children to play
and take part in physical activities instead of becoming bookworm or only
attached to academics.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
11. In light of all the above, I personally feel that
without exaggeration that atleast 15 to 20 %
change and tilt towards health, fitness, diet,
activities, etc., may be seen among the citizens
considering the future bio-hazards. Let us hope
that everything turns out to be normal with
minimum human loss through health problems,
moreover to stress on this pandemic COVID-19.
Perspectives and Possible changes in Physical Education and Sports
12. Last but not least, I can only say that every era has its own prospects and
lacunas, only thing applicable everywhere is the understanding of:
“Law of Impermanence”
So we cannot judge whether it is good or bad, we can only say that
“It is Different”,
the above two things will serve the purpose and that too without getting
panic of any situation!
Thank You!
