4. Adverts on magazines and newspapersNikki works for Lady Fest as part of the marketing team and she has come to give us an introduction to Lady Fest and the different types of marketing. Also what types of marketing we should consider and how to publicise our festival.
She introduced us to guerrilla marketing and we discussed about it. We found that guerrilla marketing is like a ‘surprise attack’. This technique is often used when people are working with a small budget and requires a lot of work and your own time. We also have to be creative with how we approach on promoting our festival. Nikki recommended ‘street art’ as a way of being creative and something that would stand out. She also explained that we would have to consider about certain rules and regulations because sometimes it could be seen as graffiti and we have to ensure we aren’t breaking the law.
She also gave us a brief presentation to some of her promotional work while promoting the ‘Great cake Escape’. She baked a lot of cakes and put messages using tooth picks in order to promote it. This type of promotion technique creates free publicity and doesn’t cost anything.
