3. Vision
The association's vision is to improve oral health and
quality of life and achieving `optimal national oral
health for all. We also aim to represent the dental
profession and support members in the provision of
comprehensive and quality oral health care.
4. Objectives of IDA
1. Promotion, encouragement and advancement of dental
and allied sciences.
2. To encourage the members to undertake measures for
improvement of public health and education in India,
and
3. The maintenance of the honour and dignity and the
upholding of interests of the dental profession and co-
operation between the members there of.
5. Functions of IDA
Holding periodical meetings and conferences
Publishing and circulating a JOURNAL and shall
undertake publicity and propaganda of the work of the
associations through its columns.
6. Encouraging opening of libraries and buy books out of
the funds of the association.
Publishing from time to time papers related to dental
researches conducted by members independently or
under auspices of association.
7. Encouraging research in dental and allied sciences with
grants out of the funds of the association
Conducting an educational campaign among the masses
of India
8. Also to consider and express its views on all questions
pertaining to the Indian legislation affecting public
health, the dental profession and dental education
9. Protects public from unethical treatment by unqualified
practitioners.
Trying to set exemption from custom duty for essential
dental materials and instruments.
10. Structure of the association
Head office – (central council) – located where
honorary secretary resides
Local branches – district headquarters or other places in
the district
State branches – headquarters in their respective states
and are made-up of various local branches

Minimum of 15 ordinary members
No more than one branch in same town
11. Membership of IDA
Dental practitioners registered under Indian dentist act
1948 / members of dental profession are eligible
Categories
Honorary members
• Persons of high scientific or literery attainment/ conspicous
service to association / connection with association is deemed
desirable.
Ordinary members
• Dental practitioners and other members of dental profession
eligible
12. Director members
• Not residing or practicing in the area of local branch
Student members
• Only undergraduate students of recognized dental institution
Affiliated members
• Non-residential foreign dental practitioners having
qualification according to schedule. All affiliated members will
be attached to the head office only.
Associate members
• Registered with medical council of India.

14. Privileges of IDA memberships
Supplied with a copy of journal and such other
publication of association free of cost
Can use library and association rooms if any.
Have the right to take part in discussions in general
meeting, lectures and demonstrations or conferences
organized by the association
Shall enjoy any other privilage that may be conferred by
central council.
