Studying various insurance proposals.
Gathering and assessing background information.
Calculating possible risk and deciding how much individuals or organizations should pay for
insurance.
Deciding whether the risk should be shared with a re-insurer.
Computing results for appropriate premiums using actuarial information, other statistics and
own judgment.
Meet/communicate with brokers or potential customers and preparing quotes.
Liaising with specialists, such as surveyors or doctors, for risk assessment.

Duties and responsibilities:
Decide whether applications for insurance cover (risks) should be accepted and on what terms.
Assess a risk according to the likelihood of a claim being made by weighing up a number of
factors and asking for detailed information from prospective clients. Offer cover on standard
terms, impose additional conditions or charges, exclude a part of risk and re-insure a portion of
the risk with another insurer.
◦ Prepare proposal forms for non-medical items (Especially Motor. Marine and Fire). Accept
the Proposal forms to proceed with further actions.
◦ Prepare the quotations with Premium calculation, clauses and conditions.
◦ Prepare cover notes on request.
◦ Prepare the insurance policy using the Software (CIRIS ` An Oracle based Program` ).
◦ Check the previous claim history, cancellation reason, special conditions imposed by the
previous proposer's, previous insurer, reason to change the insurer, inquire about co-
insurance or underinsurance for all new businesses.
◦ Check policy renewal status on monthly basis and send the renewal Notice. Inform clients
about policy expiration and discuss about the renewal.
◦ Add Endorsements to the existing policy for addition, deletion, cancellation, etc.
◦ Check whether exceeds the underwriting limits as per Treaty agreements, if yes arrange
facultative reinsurance
◦ Prepare Arabic Certificates (SHAHADA) for Traffic dept. Purposes.

office staff and make Inquiry for all suppliers

Procurement and Logistic Manager.

superiors and Release the P.O for this Supplier.

It is possible to progress to senior
underwriter/underwriting Supervisor specializing in a
particular field, such as marine insurance, Property
Insurance, Motor Insurance or managing a team. As my
career develops, accepting increased responsibility and
dealing with more complex or greater risks will increase
my opportunities. I will find that gaining professional
qualifications will aid my career development and
advancement, as will relocation.
As I gain experience; may be given responsibility for less
experiences members of staff who will refer their
underwriting decision to me. Also I have the opportunity
