Kikambala Primary School
One of the objectives of the SUN N SAND
TRUST is to help educate young children
in the area through the Government run
Kikambala Primary School, which has
over 2000 students.

The SUN N SAND TRUST facilitates
donations in cash or kind, from generous
Resort guests in the form of school supplies,
furnishings, classrooms, uniforms, lunch,
secondary education sponsorships etc.

Primary Education in Government Schools in
Kenya is free but Secondary & University
Education is not, and the SUN N SAND TRUST
facilitates funding for these purposes too.

E- School Lab
SUN N SAND BEACH RESORT partnered with
Nepad (New Partnership for African
Development) and the Microsoft Consortium
to build and equip a Computer Lab, which
was officially opened by The President of
Kenya, Hon. Mwai Kibaki on 30th June, 2006.

Now Kikambala Primary School is the first
Primary School on the Continent of Africa to
have e-learning facilities that include VSAT
Internet Connection, 27 networked
Computers and a Smart Board which acts like
a touch-screen blackboard.

This facility is aimed at equipping students and
teachers with relevant computer skills as well
as enabling the school to carry out interactive
learning activities with other schools that share
the same network.

Eco-Tourism
This project started in 1996 when a mother
turtle crawled on the Kikambala Beach and
laid eggs.
To-date over 700 turtles have been hatched
on the Resort’s Beach and released into
the sea.
The resort is also actively involved with the
annual ICC (International Coastal
Clean-Up exercise) and Marine
Environment Day.

  • 3. Sun N Sand trust NOVEMBER 2006 Page 3 Kikambala Primary School One of the objectives of the SUN N SAND TRUST is to help educate young children in the area through the Government run Kikambala Primary School, which has over 2000 students. The SUN N SAND TRUST facilitates donations in cash or kind, from generous Resort guests in the form of school supplies, furnishings, classrooms, uniforms, lunch, secondary education sponsorships etc. Primary Education in Government Schools in Kenya is free but Secondary & University Education is not, and the SUN N SAND TRUST facilitates funding for these purposes too. E- School Lab SUN N SAND BEACH RESORT partnered with Nepad (New Partnership for African Development) and the Microsoft Consortium to build and equip a Computer Lab, which was officially opened by The President of Kenya, Hon. Mwai Kibaki on 30th June, 2006. Now Kikambala Primary School is the first Primary School on the Continent of Africa to have e-learning facilities that include VSAT Internet Connection, 27 networked Computers and a Smart Board which acts like a touch-screen blackboard. This facility is aimed at equipping students and teachers with relevant computer skills as well as enabling the school to carry out interactive learning activities with other schools that share the same network. Eco-Tourism This project started in 1996 when a mother turtle crawled on the Kikambala Beach and laid eggs. To-date over 700 turtles have been hatched on the Resort’s Beach and released into the sea. The resort is also actively involved with the annual ICC (International Coastal Clean-Up exercise) and Marine Environment Day.
