4. Q.1 Should Nike be responsible for the working
condition at their subcontractors factories ?
Yes, Nike should be responsible and accountable
for working conditions in foreign factories.
Every part of the supply chain is partially responsible for the entire
supply chain
Force subcontractor to make sure that workers get at least
minimum wages
Influence its subcontractors to improve their working conditions
Immoral to use child labour to maximize profit
5. Q.2 How could Nike deal with the negative
publicity of the case study ?
As a global company Nike could take many
steps to deal with negative publicity.
Some steps are :
Initial reaction to ignore negative publicity
Reasoned that they did not own the factories
Try to sway attention among their competitors
To address the concerns of the public directly
6. Q.3 Do you think Nike should change their
current policy to deal with such problems?
Yes, Nike should change their current policy
because their policies are very older and poor.
For this purpose Nike should do :
Make changes in their current policies by a building an
organization culture
Should increase the wages of its workers
Should also continue to improve the working place
Fulfil its social responsibility and start improving the policies
7. Q.4 If sweatshops are a global problem what
might be a global solution to this problem?
The firms are searching for low cost
subcontractors in every corner of the world. So
the sweatshops are a world problem.
The possible solutions are :
Change or at least modify the conditions
Ensuring that suppliers are providing proper safety , workers rights
with minimum age and minimum wages
Create an international organization with the authority to require
companies to provide proper working conditions
Promote world free trade and continuing to improve the quality of life
