A family assessment is used to help prevent and solve family problems by gaining a complete understanding of their strengths, values, and goals. It takes a holistic and unbiased approach to build trust and partnership with the family. The assessment identifies areas of concern through questionnaires, interviews, and observation to evaluate the family's functioning, safety, and the wellbeing of the children. The purpose is to understand the family and determine if they need assistance from child protective services.
