What is Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver is a tool to design, develop and
maintain websites and applications.
It is useful program that is used to design
webpages in which you can find all the
components and CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) tools
that are available.
It was originally developed under the company of
Macromedia. But later on it was bought and
developed by the company of Adobe.

Advantages of Dreamweaver
People using Dreamweaver for several reasons such
as:
The need of creating websites in our time.
It is easy to use, and is not just designed for advanced
users but for beginners as well.
It is includes lots of features that helps in creating
websites that rages from basic homepages to
advanced applications.

How To Use Dreamweaver
Open Dreamweaver and wait for the new
blank webpage o appear.
If a blank document doesn’t appear, you can
create a new document by choosing “New”
in the fie Menu.

Provide a page title for your webpage :T he page title is
the first thing that is usually seen on your webpage and also
plays an important role in how search engines index the page.
The page title will appear at the very top when your webpage
is opened in any Internet browser.
 Dreamweaver 3 shows a title icon at the top-left that can
be used to enter the webpage title. You can also create a
page title by selecting "Head Content" in the View
menu. You can enter the title in the title box that
pops up.
 Dreamweaver 4 already has the title box shown at the
top of its user interface. Simply type in the blank area to
create your page title.

Choose your text attributes from the text properties
palette at the top: There are many options to choose
from.
 Format: lets you select the size of your heading. Selecting a
smaller number makes the heading bigger.
 Text style/Text size/Text color: allow you to choose your
default text font, size and color.
 Text alignment: aligns your text to the right, left or center.

 Link: changes the text that you highlight into a
hyperlink so when somebody click on the text they are
taken to another webpage. You can also create links to
an email address or other areas of the same webpage.
 Ordered list: changes the sentences that you have
chosen into a bulleted list or starts a new list if
no text is chosen.
 Indent/Outdent: moves the margin for your selected
text inwards or outwards.

Dreamweaver to create websites they can be
displayed differently depending on which
browser is used.

Uses of Dreamweaver
It is used to edit HTML, PHP, Javascript, CSS and
related files and can also be used to upload them to
one's Web server.
Dreamweaver is considered to be a WYSIWYG
editor, though what you see in the program is
not always an exact match to what
you would see on a live page.

Dreamweaver Workspace
Launch Dreamweaver.
In the Start page dialog box that appears, select the
HTML option from the Create New column and click
ok. The start page dialog allows you to work with
different types of pages, such as Javascript,
XML, PHP, etc. You can also access XHTML
and CSS templates to use for your own designs.

A new Document Window opens and the screen shows
as Above:
Untitled Document window – displays the current
page and is used to layout your design. This is where
you are going to place images, text and other objects
as you build your pages.
Preview in Browser – Click on the Preview in
browser button to preview a page in any of
the browsers listed or add new ones to the list.

Document toolbar contains buttons that provide
options for different views of the Document window
(such as Design view and Code view), various
viewing options, and some common operations such as
previewing in a browser.

Property inspector
Lets you view and change a variety of properties for
the selected image or text. Use the properties
inspector to create links, set alternate text and align
elements.

Views – Document work modes
Dreamweaver allows you to work in a variety of
different modes – Code, Split and Design.
 The Code view allows you to work with the
code only, similar to how you work in
TextEdit or Notepad.

The Split view allows you to work with both the code
and design views. The split view will split your
document into two, on the left side will be your code and
on the right side will be the visual appearance of how the
document will look. Dreamweaver allows you to work
with both the code and design views at the same time.
The Design view allows you to put together your
page visually by typing in the text, inserting images,
creating tables and CSS using the Dreamweaver
properties inspector and insert panel. Dreamweaver will
write the code for you.
