staff in your institution the opportunity to gain national
certification for their professional development activity
a framework for coherent linkage between your institution's
learning and teaching strategy and institutional priorities
6. And, it enables your institution to:
gain access to an organisation with a long-standing and

Editor's Notes
Recognition of an institution: involves detailed consideration of all points in the Institutional Mapping Document and supporting appendices through the review of paperwork and dialogue with those involved and senior management or their representatives which ensure SEDA PDF that the capacity, resources, infrastructure and quality assurance processes are in place to support the provision.
Increasingly have other providers—eg CAN, CRA
Several overseas which bring some challenges
Accreditation of Programmes: involves detailed consideration of all points in the Programme Mapping Document and supporting appendices to ensure SEDA PDF that the capacity, resources, infrastructure and quality assurance processes are present to deliver the provision and enable participants engaged in the programmes to demonstrate their development, understanding and achievement of the relevant SEDA outcomes and values.
Review of institution and programmes: involves the confirmation and updating of the institutional and programme Mapping documents Institutional recognition and programme accreditation is reviewed every five years. If any programmes are added during that five year period the institutional recognition will be reviewed at that point as well. This is to ensure it always remains up to date. The review is covered by annual fees though new accreditations will incur additional fees and a visit. Pre review prep
Recognitions, accreditations and reviews in some ways are very similar in terms of the approaches we take and the processes we follow. There are subtle differences though.

One of the documents in front of you is the route-map we have developed. This has been updated in line with policy changes and the website both of which are useful resources for you to draw upon. We will look at some of this now.
Recognition Report—important to capture that as this is where you note the conditions, set the timeframes and write up your summaries from the documents, visits and any additional information provided.
