For centuries the plums are growing in many Romanian areas as in the figure below. Therefore, these
wonderful fruits are included in various recipes such as: drinks with plums (plum brandy, palinka of plum) and
sweets (dumplings with plums), which are mostly found in the season of plums - the autumn .
In order to illustrate a general image of how many plums are growing in Romania, I listed on the Romanian
map study of 2012 production of plums (tons/metric).

Dumplings plums are made according to the simplest recipe! You don’t have to be so good at cooking. If you follow the steps from here, your dumplings with plums will be as tasty as any other Romanian
experienced chef in romanian food! Dumpling with plums is considered the desert of the autumn, but it you find plums in any other season this is it, you can prepare this amazing desert!
Let’s do it! according to any Romanian grandmother’s recipe, all you need are these ingredients:
Method of preparation:
1. Potatoes boil in salt water for 30 minutes and the plums are cleansed by the pips;
2. Take off the potatoes skin, crush and mix them with oil. When the composition is cooled, flour and egg are
added. Mix all the composition until smooth dough is obtained, then divide into 12 pieces. Put on a pot with 2
litres of water, add a pinch of salt.
3. Cut the plums covered with dough. Roll them through the flour and put in boiled water, all
the dumplings. Allow to boil for 10 to 15 minutes with the pot covered, then remove from heat
and leave all in hot water for another 15 minutes.
4. Melt the butter in a hot pan and fry it with the dried crust. Boiled jars must be removed from the water and left to
drain. Cover the dumplings with breadcrumbs, then powder with sugar and cinnamon and now are good to be served:
As you can observe in the nutritional chart, a portion of 100
grams of dumpling plum contains a lot of carbohydrates. So, even
this traditional dessert is very tasty, you have to be careful how
much you eat. If you want to burn the carbohydrates, you must
include some sport practice too.
