2. Appearing regularly on “Master Of The Mix”
is going to bring your brand in front of a lot
of new potential fans. While you may not
have full control of how you are presented
on TV, you have full control of how you
present your brand through your social
networks.
This document will show you some best
practices to maximize the effect of this new
exposure.

4. The bigger your networks are, the better they work. Simply put, we need to build you current social
network base in order to have a better starting point of people to contact and interact with.
Therefore, it is essential to capture as many people as possible from this new exposure and bring
them in to your network. The best way to do that is by making lots of new content for as long as the
spotlight is on you. Different content works for different people so preparing a variety of content will
give you the best chance.
Below are some content ideas I believe will help bring people into your network while showcasing
your brand.

5. When people see you on the show, they get a small glimpse of how you are as a DJ.
However because of the edits and time constraints, its difficult to get the full picture.
While you have their full attention, you need to give them as many opportunities to
really listen to you and build their loyalty towards your brand.
These mixes do not have to be very long, they just have to expand on what the viewers
see on the show. Give them just a little bit extra and they will appreciate it and give you
more support.
Build out the Week 1 example:

skill & diversity.
6. Another good way of reinforcing your brand to new fans is creating reaction videos to
each episode. Much like the mixes, you can’t control what gets shown on TV. Getting in
front of a camera yourself and making personable reaction videos will make people feel
iek they really know you and built loyalty.
Also, because MOTM is making a big push on YouTube with this season, you have a
chance to get ahead of your competition if you stay active on YouTube. Most people
watch the show online as they are out partying Saturdays at midnight.
Build out the Week 1 example:

7. Much like many other live events, people are talking about on Twitter as
they are watching it. Since these people are already engaged in watching the
show, you will have their full attention when interacting with them. Use that
attention to build their loyalty towards you.
Example: Daniel Tosh Why Do it:

8. There are two things you can do when live tweeting a MOTM show—fan
interaction and providing exclusive content/insights.
Exclusive Content: Fan Interaction:
 Give behind the scenes commentary as the  Monitor what people watching the show

 Etc…..
 Post pictures of that day if you have. Action:
Especially if you took with the special guest. A few days before the show airs, keep mentioning
how you will be live tweeting during the show. Build
up anticipation with tips on what to expect on this
weeks episode.
9. The following section will show you some tactics on how to better use
Twitter. A general principle to remember is that Twitter should not only
be used for promotion. It’s a conversation tool. Use it often to
interact with fans and see what it is about you they like. Show them
you are a reachable human just like them, and build up that loyalty.
Things you will learn:
 Find the conversation about you or MOTM and be a part of it
 Monitor your name, not just your username.
 Looking for new business leads
 Creating a dashboard to easily monitor your brand & join
conversations
 Why retweeting too much is a bad thing
10. You can begin a conversation yourself by tweeting new insights to your followers. Share exclusive
content like talked about in previous slide. Ask your followers questions.
However, you must also go out and find the conversation. Not everyone will mention @djmsquared,
so you must search the tags & usernames they are mentioning and join the conversation. This will let
people make the connection between the TV personality and your online brand immediately.
Usernames & Hashtags to
Monitor:
 Master Of The Mix tags
 @MasterOfTheMix, #MOTM,
#MasterOfTheMix
 Weekly new episode tags by
MOTM
 #MOTMfluffed, #MOTMwhip, etc.
 Show Hosts:
 @DaRealAmberRose, @JustBlaze,
@KidCapri101, etc.
Action:
• To search for all different variations of “Master Of The
Mix” mentions at once, enter this in the search field:
• #MasteroftheMix OR #MOTM OR "Master of
the mix" OR @masterofthemix
11. With this new exposure, you will be getting a lot of support via replies and mentions from your fans.
You will also be getting support from new fans who just saw you on TV. The big difference though is
that most new fans will not know what your @username is. Most people will not take the time to
look up your name if they are casually tweeting watching the show. You need to bring these fans
into your network!
Monitoring @djmsquared is not enough--we need to monitor YOUR NAME. We need to think of all
possible ways new fans will mention you on twitter. Let’s find these new fans by using some unique
search terms. fans who didn’t look
What new
up @DJMSquared might tweet:
 Variations of DJ M-Squared
 “DJ M-Squared”, “DJ m squared”,
“DJ Msquared”
 Also search for people who might
have misspelled your name!
(common for square)
 “DJ M-Sqaured”, “DJ m sqaured”,
“msqaured”, “dj msqaured”
Action:
• Combine all these variations into one search term:
• "dj msquared" OR "dj m-squared" OR "dj m
squared" OR "dj msqaured" OR “m-
sqaured” OR “dj m-sqaured” OR
12. As you can see, many new fans will not take the time to search for your twitter username
immediately. You need to capture these people while they have your attention and
convert them to FOLLOWERS.
Using the search term in the previous
slide, you can see the kind of new fans
who are talking about you.
These 3 new fans can easily be converted
to new Twitter Followers by simply replying
to them. @LeVocative even spelled your
name wrong!
Action:
• A simply REPLY to each user who
mentions you will let them know what your
real account is. Give them thanks and show
appreciation for their love.
13. Some of the new people mentioning you might be more than just regular fans. You need to keep your
eye out for potential new business leads and people who can help your brand.
For example, lets look at this tweet:
This tweet sparked my interest because @ButtaBaby is apparently at some sort of “viewing party” for
the show. Maybe she’s just watching with a couple friends at home. Or maybe she works in the
entertainment industry and is watching with some coworkers. Either way, it’s worth digging deeper real
quick.
Digging deeper Verdict:
@ButtaBaby is not just a regular new fan, but a music
blogger who has an audience of her own. She has
potential to help out your brand!
Action:
** Looking at her profile, I see she has 3,000 followers and is • Armed with this basic info of who she is, you

• Make yourself available and reachable to her

** Her site links to a facebook fanpage with just over 9,700 so she can introduce you to HER FANS
14. Now that you know what to look for,
lets create a dashboard which easily
tracks all your searches & replies.
HootSuite.com is a free tool that you
can access online from any compute.
MAKE A DASHBOARD
For example, look at how I track “DJ
irie” in one tab, questions sent to irie in
another tab so I can reply quickly, etc.
This is great for live tweeting because
you can separate Replies to you and
also monitor conversations about the
show in general in which you can join
quickly.
Action:
Create tabs for the essential things you
need to monitor:
• Name mentions, MOTM
conversations, weekly MOTM
hashtags, etc.
15. If you tweet things your followers they don’t care about, they will skip your tweet. Do this continuously,
over and over, and eventually you’ll program your followers to ignore your tweets by accident.
I noticed this myself when I thought one of my favorite DJs stopped tweeting. I checked his timeline
and realized I had subconsciously ignored his tweets because he constantly tweeted things I had no
interest in.
Using a reply will work most of the 20/40/40 Rule

followers would want to see it  40% original tweets

Examples of meaningless RTs:
 Only Retweet really important

 Fans with not-so ordinary compliments
 DON’T RT EVERY SINGLE

They already know you’re great, that’s
why they are following you!
Your followers don’t care about random people
you talk to. Keep those conversations off their

16. Facebook is rapidly growing as the most important tool in any social
media plan. You can have a bigger impact on Facebook if you post the
right content and it spreads through the friends of your fans. Lets go
over a few tactic you can use to improve your interaction with you
fans.
Things you will learn:
 Why interacting with everyone is important
 Why pictures work better on facebook
 Use featured images to present quality brand image
 Use Facebook as your page
17. NEVER LEAVE COMMENTS UN- MANAGE LANDING TAB & WALL

at the club by saying “awesome pic” or  Change the default setting so visitors see posts by
something nice about meeting them.. you only. They will still be able to comment and see
everyone’s posts by clicking on the (Everyone)
18. IMAGES ARE BETTER THAN
WORDS
People are more likely to respond to
images/video than they are to words.
 They give instant satisfaction and are
easy to share
 “hey look at this picture I found”
 Not only on facebook but twitter as well.
Pictures tend to get more retweets.
Live Examples:
A while back DJ Irie played in a golf tournament
with celebrities. He tweeted a picture of himself
with Michael Bloomberg. When it posted to
Facebook, it was just a link. I saw this and
made another post with the actual picture
instead of only a link. Look at the results:
Post Type # of Likes # of Comments
Link Only Post 13 4
Picture Post 31 11
19. Here is another example. When Irie’s tweet
went to Facebook, only a link was shown. The
next day, I made another status update with the
same picture, but this time with the picture in
the actual post.
Post Type # of Likes # of Comments
Link Only Post 3 5
Picture Post 30 8
20. The 5 pictures next to your default
picture on your fanpage are called
“Featured Pictures”.
These are the 5 most recently tagged
photos of you.
If you are always uploading and tagging
pictures of yourself (which is a good
thing), you need to keep track of which
ones show up in the featured section.
Always make sure you have the best
pictures in there.
 Pictures with celebrities Action:
 Photoshoot shots
 Promotional items/contests info Remove unwanted photos from the featured
section:
DJ Irie always has new contests and
giveaways which are required from his
sponsors/partners, so we use one of the
featured photos to always remind people
about checking out the contest tabs.
21. You want your fanpage to be as visible as possible, so Action:
any chance you get, comment on other page’s links and
updates as your fanpage (not as your personal profile). Once you are logged in as your page, comment on
all flyers, videos, & updates mentioning your name.
This will put your fanpage profile in front of fans • This shows promoters you are active in
who might not have seen it yet. You will get more supporting their party & also gives new fans
likes. a chance to see your profile.
Reply to every fan comment on your wall. This
makes you reachable / human.
22. Not only should you tag them in your posts, you
should also reply on the more important MOTM
posts ON THEIR PAGE.
This will make your fanpage visible to people
who are already engaged in the conversation on
the MOTM page. It’ an easy way to get new likes
and makes people feel they can reach out to you
since you are involved in the conversation with
them!
Action:
Like I said before, MOTM is making a big push for this
show on YouTube and Facebook since lots of people are
out partying Saturday nights.
Therefore, you need to comment on their YouTube videos
and Facebook posts cause that’s where most people will
be sharing. Add some comments saying how you felt
about that week’s episode in these Facebook posts. Keep
an eye out for people mentioning you on their page as
well and COMMENT!
23. Just like on Twitter, you can “mention” your friends or fanages that you like in your status updates with the @ sign. You
should be doing this every single time you mention anybody!!!! Remember when I said to change the fanpage
default wall setting so only your pages post shows up? Well Master of the Mix still has the default of showing
everyone's comment. So anytime you mention them, it goes straight to their wall for everyone to see. This
increases the reach of your status updates to not only your wall, but their wall too, and anyone else you mention.
Look at this update I sent Look where it ended up for
tagging both you and MOTM: everyone to see:
Action:
ACTION: In ALL YOUR MOTM posts, TAG the MOTM
page!!! Example, you should have tagged them in
the most recent update which was about some
article in Orlando Sentinel.
Not only will your fans see it, but also people who
check the MOTM page
24. Like most people, you probably started adding everyone you can to your personal
Facebook profile. The limit on personal profile pages is 5,000 friends, which you already
hit. Yet your fanpage only has 1,600 fans.
We need all future people who look you up not to get confused about your profile and
page. You want everyone to “LIKE” you on your page instead of sending a friend request.
So deny people from finding your personal profile from search.
How searching for your

Click PRIVACY SETTINGS.. Then click HOW YOU
I see both your personal profile and fanpage CONNECT… and select “FRIENDS” for who can look

current friends will see your personal profile when
25. YouTube is a straight forward network which requires little but often
ignored tactics to help increase visibility of your brand.
Things you will learn:
 Use annotations to get more interaction from videos
 Why you should comment on MOTM videos
 Energize your YouTube channel page
26. YouTube has an annotations feature which lets you add links on top of you videos. This is a great
engagement tool that will help make it easier for people viewing your videos to interact with your
page. While creating your videos, simply add images and text inside the video that you know you will
annotate later.
Link to other videos Ask users to subscribe
At the end of your videos, link to other related Ending every video with a subscribe button
videos. For example, in DJ Irie’s VS PINK will get you more followers. Create a generic
Kid Cudi Concert video, we linked to a promo image you can place at the end of
previous VS PINK event, & another Kid every video and annotate.
Cudi video we have.
27. MOTM is making a big push for this show on YouTube. They are posting lots of different clips and
trailers on their YouTube channel which are being viewed & spread by lots of people online. You need
to make your YouTube channel page visible in these posts.
Comment on all MOTM videos:
Most videos have few comments even though they have a lot of views. This
means that by simply commenting on these videos, you will ensure people
will see your name in the future when they see the video.
A simple reply is all you need. Reply saying that you had fun during that
episode’s challenge, or that you learned form the judge’s criticism, or talk
about something that happened off screen.
Link your video response to that weeks trailer
After you make your weekly reaction videos, link each of them to their
respective week’s MOTM youtube trailer video.
Use your contacts on the show to try and get the video response comments
approved. This will be huge as video responses are shown above text
comments. People will then be able to click righ tonto your page and
interact with you!
Send a friend invite to everyone who comments on MOTM
Anybody who comments on a MOTM video is likely to be really involved in
youtube. These people will help spread your videos. Send them a friend
invite and a message thanking them for their support.
28. Just like any other social profile page, you need to make sure your YouTube Channel fits your brand.
Make sure there is a good bio/description in the About Me Section. Make it clear where people can
find you on other networks. (link to your website, twitter, and facebook.) Change the theme colors to
stand out from a regular youtube page.
Featured Video:
Change the settings on the channel page to display
whichever video you want. It can be the latest upload video,
or a specific intro video you want people to see first. (You
currently do this)
Check the “Autoplay featured video” option. This will get you
a few more views as the featured video will play
automatically.
29. I hope you learned some new tactics to use when
presenting your brand online through your social networks.
There are more things to learn but these are some of the
basic things you need to be doing to take advantage of
your current exposure. Give me a shout if you need my
help to set some of this stuff up or have more questions
about more general things you can be doing.
