The document provides an overview and retrospective of the AgileCymru 2015 conference. It thanks the attendees and contributors for making the conference a success. It describes how the conference founder James had the idea in 2011 but took time to plan and prepare it. The 9 months leading up to the April 2015 conference were stressful but seeing the results made it worthwhile. The conference included 216 attendees, 34 speakers over 2 days covering topics like leadership, complexity, and portfolio management. Feedback was very positive, praising the community focus and quality of sessions. Plans were already underway for the 2016 conference.
2. INTRODUCTIONIN THIS BOOK...
Welcome!
I‘d like to thank everyone who attended
and contributed to AgileCymru 2015,
without your participation and support the
conference would not have been the great
success it was. There are also a couple of
people who went unrecognised for their
efforts. Emma Parker, without whom the
whole thing would have just been another
idea rattling around my brain. Karly
Edwards for her tireless efforts creating
website content, managing social media
and creating leads and connections with sponsors and suppliers.
I had the idea of a “Welsh” agile conference as far back as
2011, but inevitably life and procrastination got in the way. Part
of me wasn’t even convinced that at that time “agile” was in a
mature enough stage here in Wales to support it. So 2014 rolls
around and I’m mulling it over, and Emma Parker more or less
frog marches me down to the Wales Millennium Centre to see
their events coordinator, and the rest is history.
The 9 months preparing and planning the conference were full
of highs and lows, and right up until April of 2015 I still wasn’t
even sure we’d make it a real thing. Equal parts stressful, nerve
wracking and adrenalin rush, to see the results of the hard work
I put in come to fruition had made it all worthwhile.
216 enthusiastic and engaged attendees, 34 great speakers,
4 separate tracks over 2 days.

3. THE AMAZING VENUE!
About agileCYMRU
Agile Cymru presents a sensational opportunity for
those interested in a more collaborative, flexible and
responsive way of working. This year, over 200 like-
minded people came together to share, form ideas
and learn from the leading experts, all in a bid to
understand a set of underlying principles to help the
teams they work with significantly improve the way they operate.
During our two day collaborative exploration, attendees are immersed in a
generous mix of interactive, classroom and storytelling workshops, offering
practical advice, techniques and lessons from practitioners, experts and
beginners.
Agile Cymru is actively shaping the agile community in Wales. It is a
conference where ideas collide to create an infinite number of possibilities.
Our intimate coaching clinic gave attendees the opportunity to speak with
a handful of speakers one on one and address any burning problems or
questions head on. This is a bonus feature where individuals can book a slot
on the day to receive free invaluable advice from renowned agile coaches.
Our Twitter feed went into overload during and after the conference, with all
attendees excited about the knowledge they could apply back in the office.
Our 2015 event saw individuals from diverse backgrounds brought to the
same creative space all with one aim in common – to learn how to become
more agile.
We’re most definitely looking forward to Agile Cymru 2016!

12. SPEAKER FEEDBACK
“Interesting,
interactive, inspiring: Agile
Cymru was a high-tech, high
energy conference that I was
thrilled to have the pleasure
of opening. It is rare to go to
an event where you can feel
so much real learning and
transformation taking place.
Remember to move that kitchen
bin, delegates of 2015!”
Kim Morgan
“Agile Cymru was
delightful, insightful
and well organized.
It was a great place
to learn, share and
refine ideas. I met so
many great people
exploring so many
neat things. I’m really
looking forward to
next year’s!”
Matt Barcomb
AgileCymru is a truly inspiring experience. The overall atmosphere was amazing: engaging speakers
and smart participants - the levels of conversations within and outside the sessions was one of the
most enjoyable and enriching I have seen. The mix of innovative and forward thinking workshops,
combined with honest talks both from speakers and participants, made AgileCymru an event
where everyone could find the tastiest food for thought to push their Agile practice ahead. A big
thank you to the organisers, who were able to pull together a fantastic, enriching and inspiring
event! Patrizia Bertini
“I have been to and
spoken at dozens of
Agile conferences
across the world.
This was the best I
have ever attended.
Nuff said.”
Nigel Baker
I came away from the
conference feeling very
up-beat and optimistic
about agile in South
Wales. There was a
tremendous energy
and enthusiasm coming
from both speakers and
audiences which will
accelerate the adoption
of agile principles and
practices and enable
many more organisations
to embrace the agile
approach.
Margaret Morgan
“At last, a
conference that really
focuses on ‘Individuals
and Interactions over
Processes and Tools’ - and
not just in the program!”
Andrea Provaglio
A fantastic conference, with fabulous speakers and
sessions. It was great to meet up with fellow agile
practitioners, to share ideas, catch up with old friends
and make new ones. It was the best conference I have
attended for many years and I am already looking
forward to next year’s. Christina Ohanian
“Agile Cymru 2015 was an
enjoyable conference featuring
modern XP, BDD and similar
development ideas. Well worth
