Shafia Begum and Mia worked on completing the sound for a film trailer over several sessions from March 16th to March 16th. They used GarageBand to add background music and sound effects. Mia recorded additional voiceover and they edited the narration to fit each scene. Their final session involved some additional editing touches and adding a "Double Take" sound effect to a shot at the end of the trailer. Through this process, they learned how to structure voiceovers and adjust audio levels to balance music and dialogue.

3/16 1:15pm 3:00pm Originally Mia was going to complete the sound but
as the deadline is drawing closer, Shafia and Mia
are both going to complete this. Mia looked into
sound before we begun working on it so she had an
understanding on what the music should sound like.
She directed us to what type of sound we could use
and Shafia did some picking and choosing from the
ideas that Mia came up with. We both worked
together to begin some sound on Garage Band.
3/16 9:00am 10:00am Shafia and Mia continued with the sound today and
we learnt that we needed to complete the voiceover
structure today. As some parts of the sound was
unheard from the camera in Riven’s parts, Mia
recorded this again on the Voice Memo app and we
successfully dragged this MP4 onto the
programme. We then added Audio Gain to make
the part where she says “they add character” to
make it louder than the music playing in the
background. This lesson was successful because it
allowed us to understand sound a bit better.
3/16 10:30am 11:00am Shafia edited the trailer today with the length of the
title shots. She found that “As Gray Johnson” slide
from After Effects lasted longer on screen than
anything else so used the crop tool to shorten the
length of this down. This was a useful lesson
because as it was originally taking too long within
the trailer.
3/16 10:00am 10:30am Mia edited the sound on Garageband today and
she added the “Yearbook Long” onto the trailer.
This loop from Garageband was useful as it gives
the trailer a sense of teenage love.
3/16 3:00pm 4:30pm Shafia edited the sound on Garagband today and
added the loop “Eastender Medium”. This sound
fitted well within the trailer as it creates the humour
aspect.
3/16 2:15pm 3:30pm The sound for the trailer completed today. Mia
added the voiceover of Sarah narrating the trailer
and Shafia shorted and lengthened each part of it. It
was editing by Shafia and Mia together to fit each
scene with what the characters say. This was a
useful session as it was a success to finally finish
the sound of the trailer.
3/16 3:00pm 4:30pm Today Shafia and Mia edited final parts of the
trailer. We found that some scenes needed to have
finishing touch. We also added the “Double Take”
over a shot of Riven and Gray laughing at the end
which was not an original idea but this looked better
than the scenes being separate.
