of making it to a century since its inception. Having
existed since 1946, International Council on Hotel,
Restaurant, and Institutional Education (CHRIE)
advocates for the hospitality industry throughout the
whole world.
4. It has achieved a lot in the advocacy of the interests of
universities and colleges offering culinary arts,
foodservice management, hotel & restaurant
management as well as the hospitality and tourism
education schools.

industry. Bagnall Meek overshadowed the rest and after
years of confrontation of who really began International
Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education
(CHRIE), a research project was written in 1995 that came
up with how International Council on Hotel, Restaurant,
and Institutional Education (CHRIE) was formed.
11. It states that a meeting was first called and then
dedicated hospitality industry professionals gathered
together to come up with the objectives of
International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and
Institutional Education (CHRIE).
12. There was then a meeting at international house that
discussed on how to come up with the organization after
which the organization took its structure. 1949 was an
eventful year for International Council on Hotel, Restaurant,
and Institutional Education (CHRIE) and the first crisis
meeting was held. This led to the setting up of the future
agenda for International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and
Institutional Education (CHRIE), something that’s attributed
to the success of the organization up to date.
