Step 1: Take Stock – Blog

*Titles and opening of a Thriller film; Up to two minutes long.

*20 marks – Research and Planning.

*60 marks – Construction.

*20 marks – Evaluation.
Timeframe and Equipment
*Build up your skills.

*Build up your research.

*Build up your planning.

*Give yourselves time to shoot and edit – time management.

*Keep evidence throughout the whole process – blog.



                         Step 2: Set Up A Blog
                         -And keep evidence of everything you do~!-

*Shooting Schedule: Shot descriptions, props, locations, frames, times etc…


*Storyboard: Create and use several to show idea timeline and development.
Step 3: Build Up Skills
*Sound.

*Editing.

*Camerawork.



                         Step 4: Investigation
*What do film openings actually look like?

*What does other student work look like?

*Title Information?

*How is it going to stand out – be unique?
Step 5: Brainstorm Ideas
*Possible scenarios for pitches/treatments.

*25 word pitch.

*Moodboard treatment.

*Peer and teacher feedback.

*Realistic expectations.

*Know the film but only make the opening – not a trailer.


                           Possible Pitch Scenarios…
*Low budget – make sure it’s realistic~!
Step 6: Planning
*Experimenting with camera and editing.

*Record shots of location.

*Examples of shots, costumes, props etc. onto blog.

*Post storyboard(s), animatic, moodboard onto blog.

*Logistics planning – Including a risk assessment.


                             Step 7: The Shoot
*People, location(s), props, costumes.

*Rehearsing; lines, dramatics etc.

*Equipment, jobs on the day – rota.

*Keeping a record of progress – upload to blog.
Step 8: Editing
*All having a hand/voice in it – teamwork.

*Screencaps/screengrabs of progress.

*Importance of audio and titles/credits.

*Rough cut deadline.

*Foley – not just music.


                             Step 9:Evaluation
*’Seven questions become seven tasks’.
