3.  Tele-immersion, a new medium for human interaction
enabled by digital technologies.
 Tele-immersion combines the display and interaction
techniques of virtual reality with new vision
technologies.
 Tele immersion is a next step of videoconferencing.

6. Following the flow of information tele-immersion
depends on intense data processing at each end of a
connection, mediated by high performance network.
From the sender: Parallel processors accept visual inputs
from the cameras and reinterpret the scene as a 3-
Dimensional computer model.
 To the receiver: Specific rendering of remote people
and places are synthesized from the model as it is
received to match the point of view of each eye of a user.
The whole process repeats many times a second to keep
up with the user head motion.

8.  Tele-immersion differs significantly from
conventional video Tele-conferencing in that the
user’s view of the remote environment changes
dynamically as he moves his head.

10.  Tele immersion may sound like virtual reality but
there are major differences between the two
technologies.
 Virtual reality allows you to move in a computer-
generated 3-D environment.
 Tele immersion can only create a 3d environment
that you can see but not interact with.

11.  Control : - consists of data that is used to manage the
tele-immersion session, to authenticate users or
processes, to launch processes, to control the display.
 Text :- provides simple communications capability
within collaborative sessions for simple note taking
and passing.
 Video :- can allow teleconferencing or remote
monitoring displayed within the virtual world.

12.  Audio :- allows voice communications among users,
and is used to issue commands via voice recognition.
 Tracking :- in tracking, sensor captures the position
and orientation of the user.
Typically this data is streamed to the
computer responsible for computing the perspective of
the scene.

13.  Database :- is the heart of a tele-immersion
application world. The database contains the
graphical models of virtual scenes, objects, and data,
and since the database is used to provide the models
that are rendered.
 Haptics :- is the science of applying touch sensation
and control to interaction with computer applications.

generates an image from its point of view many times
in a second.
