  2. 2. What is Discipline ? <ul><li>A disciplinary procedure is the means by which rules are observed and standards are maintained. It provides a method of dealing with any shortcomings in conduct or performance and can help a person to become effective again. The procedure should be fair, effective and consistently applied. </li></ul><ul><li>Conformity by the employees to the expectations of management in terms of standards of behaviour and performance, code of conduct and desirable actions and behaviour made known to them through formal or informal, written or verbal means. </li></ul>
