closely with external advisors during due diligence to ascertain key project risks for lenders,
assess projects viability through in depth analysis of financial models and budgets, prepare
credit approval memorandum, prepare project debt marketing material for potential lenders,
monitor project progress and identify and resolve key issues posing risks for lenders upto
project completion.
• Involved in preparing reports for senior management on the renewable energy and LNG
import sector which have formed the basis for the bank’s lending and business origination
strategy in these sectors.
• Currently looking at the mandates and ICA functions of Foundation Wind Energy-I Limited
and Foundation Wind Energy-II (Private Limited) and also working in Gul Ahmed Wind
Energy Limited and Tapal Wind Energy.

• Selected Transaction Experience:
US$ 195 million Syndicated Project Finance Facility for 100 MW Foundation Wind Energy
Projects - Islamic Finance News - 'Pakistan Deal of the Year 2011' and nominated for 'Global
Deal of the Year' & ‘Euromoney Middle East Deal of the Year 2012’
o Currently working as “Inter-creditor Agent”, “Project Monitoring Bank” and “Accounts
Banks” for two Renewable Energy Power projects of worth US$ 130 million each. These
two projects are the first ever 100% Islamic Renewable Energy Project. The projects are
2. co-financed by Development Banks including Asian Development Bank (ADB) and
Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
o Prepared project marketing material to solicit local lender interest in the consortium and
played key role in arrangement of funding commitments to finalize the club deal.
o Worked closely with foreign and local legal counsels’ alongwith Shariah Advisor to
resolve key issues on shariah compliant financing structures being contemplated by both
foreign and local lenders. The financing structures currently being discussed are
Musharaka (Shirkat ul Milk) and Ijaraha.
o At present, have achieved financial close of Foundation Wind Energy I Limited &
Foundation Wind Energy II (Pvt) Limited.
o In addition, handling activities pertaining to the Inter-Creditor Agent and Project
Monitoring Bank function for Foundation Wind Energy Projects.
US$ 160 million Syndicated Project Finance for 84 MW Laraib Energy Limited –
Euromoney ‘Renewables Middle East Deal of the Year 2009’
o Achieved Financial Close of PKR 3,250 million (US$ equivalent 32.50 million) Local
Funded Facility in favour of Laraib Energy Limited (“LEL”).
o Involved with team in the structuring of transaction and negotiation of facility and
sponsor support agreements from NBP’s point of view by working closely with legal and
syndicate members that included multilaterals such as the IFC, ADB, IDB and Proparco
France. Also worked as a team with legal and technical advisors for identification of, and
resolution of all key issues arising during due diligence and implementation of the project.
o At present, involved in monitoring of project operations.
