• Acquisition of premise-
- Once the site is selected the businessman has to acquire it
- There are two modes of acquisition
a) Outright purchase-
- It is beneficial in long time run
- Requires huge amount of money
- Owner has to develop & provide all facilities
b) Rental basis-
- Owner accepts any person as a user & has to pay some cash to
landlord which is the rent
- Owner should be bound to provide some facilities to user
- There is an agreement or lease between owner & user
- The agreement should contain following points-
- name & address of owner
- name & address of user
- nature of business
- amount of rent
- mode of payment of rent
- duration of agreement
- responsibility of owner
- responsibility of user
- signatures of owner & user
• Layout design-
the layout design is the plan explaining proper & maximum utilisation of
space inside the four walls of business.
Requirement of layout design-
- There should be signal entrance for the customers
- The shop area should be separated from private room
- The license should be displayed prominently
- Name of shop should be easily readable
Objectives-
- Attract the customers & to increase the sales
- To build up professional image
- Maximum utilization of space
- To control the traffic of customers
- To avoid thefts
- satisfy the customers
• Documents required for opening a new retail drug store-
- Application in duplicate in form no. 19B
- One copy for biological products & another copy for nonbiological products
- A fee of Rs 200/- to be deposited in government treasury office along with
form no. 32A
- Academic record-
- Attested copy of mark list of diploma in pharmacy from institute approved by
PCI ( I& II yrs)
- attested copy of registration certificate issued by state pharmacy council
- affidavit of qualified person if qualified person is an employee of the firm
- an attested copy of matriculation certificate for proof of birth date
- A plan or map of premise
- Site or location of premise
- Receipt of rent
- Copy of partnership deed
- A receipt of refrigerator
- As per Bombay shop act following information should be provided-
- no. of persons working
- weekly holiday
- attendance register
- salary records
- License required to stock & sale insecticides & pesticides
- To sale homeopathic drugs

- license should renewed time to time
