Born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant on June 21st 1986 in New York City.
She has two siblings and is of Scottish decent.
At age 14 she was sent to Kent School to deal with alcohol dependency.
She studied Philosophy at University.
She was taught to play the guitar by her uncle.

3. HER PERSONAS
Lana Del Rey has gone by many different by many different stage names before
settling on this one. These have included Lana Rey Del Mar, Sparkle Jump Rope
Queen and May Jailer.

4. INFLUENCES
Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Anthony and the Johnsons, Frank Sinatra and Eminem.
“the masters of every genre”.
Her favourite artists include Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Jeff Buckley and Leonard
Cohen.
Janis Joplin‟s live version of „Summertime‟ is one of her favourite songs as well as
„Time of the Season‟ by The Zombies and „Hotel California‟ by The Eagles are
inspirations.

5. APPEARANCE
Lana Del Rey has several tattoos on her hands.
These say „Paradise‟, „Die Young‟ and „Trust no one‟.

6. VOICE
She has an expansive contralto vocal range which is unique.
In the studio she uses vocal multi-layering, double tracking and overlays which is hard
to replicate in a live setting.
Her voice has been explained as „smoky‟ and „gravely‟.
