Lauren Meccia is a vocalist, saxophonist,
educator, composer, and lyricist. Listeners have said,
“her voice is like medicine,” comparing her tone
to Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy, and Ella Fitzgerald. Her
saxophone sound has an organic warmth that is rare
for the instrument, incorporating influences of bright
jazz and dark classical styles and tonal colors.

2. Donald Vega — piano

Classically-trained in his native Nicaragua, Vega
emigrated to the United States at age 14 and began
learning the language of jazz from mentor Billy Higgins
at The World Stage and later with bassist John Clayton
at the University of Southern California. He went on to
graduate from Manhattan School of Music and The Juil-
liard School where he studied with piano great, Kenny
Barron. Vega currently performs internationally as the
pianist for world renowned bassist Ron Carterʼs Golden
Striker Trio.
Vegaʼs debut album, Tomorrows, was released in
2008 to rave reviews. In his sophomore album, Spiritual
Nature, he is joined by the rhythm section of bassist
Christian McBride and drummer Lewis Nash, where he
explores the marriage of jazz, Latin and classical music.
Spiritual Nature was released August 2012. It stayed at
the top of the jazz charts for several weeks, reaching all
the way to Number 1.

bandleader, arranger, composer, recording
engineer, educator, and owner of Spirit Music.
Frost is known for the unique quality of
sound that he produces on his custom Clifford
Roi basses. He has performed with the New
York Voices, Manolo Badrena, Jimmy Bruno,
Jorma Kaukonen, Wycliffe Gordon, Jesse
Colin Young, Esteban, and the Gypsy Kings.
Frost has made national TV appearances
including the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon,
performed for U.S. troops at Guantanamo
Bay, Cuba, and played at Red Rocks
Amphitheater in Colorado.
