2. Technology Surrounds Today’s Students computers cell phones/smartphones IM/texting video games portable video/music players
3. Living in a world of technology Students today are visual learners and need more stimulation than just taking notes and doing a worksheet. Our teaching style has to adapt to those we teach so that we keep their attention.
4. Adapting the Teaching Style Most teachers still do not see the importance of structuring their classroom to fit the student’s needs. By using technology the kids stay engaged.
5. Keeping Up With Technology “Teachers and other educators are struggling to keep up with the vast influx of new techniques and information, and to implement them into the curricula. Networking and open dissemination of information can ease the transition.”
6. Incorporating Technology Our district just recently spent money on updating our technology by purchasing e-instruction for math and science teachers. I try new ideas to engage and motivate my students.
7. Incorporating Technology I use e-instruction to grade homework check for understanding play challenge games help review objectives. I also use e-instruction for tutorial groups I can get an immediate feed back on the areas they need help
8. Technology Paying Off it may seem like more work for teachers to incorporate technology in the classroom, I believe in the end it will pay off. students seem to remember the material more if they see it online or perform some sort of hands on activity with it
9. Taking Ownership “Technology enables the student to take ownership of their education, by providing a tool that is able to bridge the gap between academic disciplines, thus affording educators the opportunity for thematic unit planning.”
10. Personal Experience I know with my personal experience I try to use technology as often as I can. Kids today are visual learners and do not always understand the notes you give them, but once you show it to them visually, the light bulb comes on.
