Clap Jack Monologue
After leaving Mr.Leroy behind for having a possible heart attack I commenced my journey with a
goal of liberating Mr. Leroyś family from slavery. I had to think long and hard about how I was
going to get nourishment as well as where I was going to sleep when night approached. It was a very
chilly evening and, the sky looked exceedingly dreary as I rode Flap–Jack down the dusty road. It
had been about 3 hours since I started riding. Then all of a sudden I heard a loud boom. I muttered
under my breath, looks like storms coming our way boy better find someplace where we can stay the
night. At that instant, I yanked on the rein that was connected to Flap–Jack's mouth and turned us
both around so that we were heading towards the woods. Before I had heard many cases of people in
Buxton and how they would go into the woods and, witness human beings living in light brown
bungalows. Afterward, they would come back and talk about how the homes looked pretty pleasant
to live in.Using all my clout I pulled on Flap–Jack's rein's which ... Show more content on

" Wow." I glanced at the picture again, and the boy looked just like me.
" Is that me?" Max took a long stare at me and then looked at the picture to see if the faces matched.
" Elijah, is it you?" Ma and pa had talked once about how I had an older brother but when I asked
questions about him they wouldn't answer. " Yes, it is." We gave each other a long hug and talked for
a while until the preacher called us in for lunch. I remembered when I heard the voice sounding
almost like a scream. I asked Max "Does anybody else live here?" as we walked down the hall.
"Yes, the owner but don't talk to the preacher about it."
"why?"
"He tied her up in the corner of a room and told me to never speak about her whenever guest came
around."
"We need to get her free."
"Okay but how?"

Explosion: An Uncontrollation In Greek Myth
Who doesn't have a favorite constellation? I have found myself looking at the night sky for years
wondering this, and over these years I've found my favorite, though it may be cliché, this
constellation is Orion. I don't have many reasons for this and honestly I believe the main reason is
simply aesthetic preference. Another reason, however, is the Greek myth that goes with it. The
constellation itself is located on the celestial equator, simply the projection of earth's equator in
space, and can be seen throughout the world. It was named for the great hunter in Greek mythology,
and is one of the most recognized constellations in the world.
There are quite a few myths surrounding the constellation Orion, my favorite however states that
Orion was a mortal man who was gifted to the gods of Olympus. Because of this he was a great
hunter and spent his days taking down animals and monsters in sport, this drew the goddess
Artemis's eye and the two of them became close friends. Throughout this bond Artemis began to
forget her vows of eternal maidenhood and thought to marry Orion. Her brother Apollo wasn't
pleased and to combat this he pointed out Orion as he swam. Apollo then taunted Artemis, daring
she couldn't hit the unidentified item, and Artemis took the dare, killing Orion and out of respect for
her hunting partner she placed him in the sky to hunt with his dogs forever. ... Show more content on

Essay on Hawaiian Navigation
Hawaiian Navigation
How did the Polynesians find their way to Hawaii, over two thousand miles from any other land?
Was it over population at home, or political turmoil? Whatever reason for leaving these people used
amazing knowledge and skill of the ocean and of the sky to navigate them to this new land. They
faced the unknown and braved into the wide–open ocean for long periods of time. The real focus in
this paper is on the navigation techniques that they used in these voyages throughout the Pacific.
It's impossible to teach someone the significance or the act of loving the stars and the ocean but
that's what makes navigation without instruments (wayfinding) so beautiful. One can "give the
heavens a meaning his own meaning" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then in the 1980's came the voyages of rediscovery navigated by Nainoa Thompson from Hawaii to
Tahiti and from Tahiti back to Hawaii. Thompson was the first Hawaiian to sail this route in over
500 years. The voyages in between took the Hokule'a (some 16000 miles) to the Society Islands,
Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and back home via Aitutaki, Tahiti, Rangiroa in the
Tuamotu Archipelago (Baybayan, Kawaharada, 1996). The Hokule'a became the symbol of pride in
Polynesian heritage that links all the people of Polynesia together.
In the 1990's there were more voyages to Marquesan Islands and from the West Coast of the United
States up to Alaska. This is when education became the focus of the voyages of the Hokule'a. They
then built the Hawaiilo'a, another Polynesian voyaging canoe, this one made of traditional materials.
The Hawaiilo'a added to the curiosity and the revival of culture throughout the world. The natives of
all ands throughout the world are figuring out the importance of their cultures and bringing back the
knowledge. Now all cultures worldwide can help each other save the past and use it for the future.

The Rocket Man Literary Devices
In the short story, The Rocket Man, an adaptation of, The Illustrated Man, the author Ray Bradbury
describes the life of an astronaut who is torn between living an ordinary life with his family and
traveling through space on a rocketship. The story, written in 1951, is based around how the father's
space travel affects his son, Doug, and the father's relationship with his wife. The Rocket Man, was
written during the modern period of literature, a time when science fiction and new technology was
up and coming. During the 1950's, the United States was at the beginning of its space program, and
space travel was quickly becoming a reality. The Rocket Man was influenced by its time period, and
the story describes a futuristic place where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
'Sleep good Doug?' he said, as if he has been here all the time, and hadn't been gone for three
months" (2). The author writing through Doug in the first person allows him to give more detail and
clarity to the situation as well as highlight how Doug views his father as a man who leaves his
family for a long period of time, yet returns as if he never left. Doug's view of his father after his
return sheds light on the recurring notion of a poorly functioning family, a key theme within the
reading. Furthermore, the author inserts dialogue within Doug's story of events to add more
credibility to Doug's version of events. Dialogue is added when Doug speaks with his father while
on vacation, "Doug .... I want you to promise me something. 'What?' Don't ever be a Rocket Man.
.... I mean it" (7). Doug's conversation with his father is an example of how Bradbury tells the story
through Doug, just another way the author is able to exemplify the father's unhappiness and
dysfunctional family while keeping a consistent and eventful storyline. Second, Bradbury integrates
conflict and irony into the story to demonstrate the recurring unhappiness from the characters. One
major form of conflict is within Doug's father, as he speaks with Doug about his internal struggle,
"Don't ever be a Rocket Man. 'I stopped.' I mean it, 'he said.' Because when you're out there you
want to be here, and when you're here you want to be out there" (7). The

Descriptive Essay About Awe
Awe. Complete and utter awe. That was the only way I could ever describe the feeling the night sky
struck into me with its thousands upon thousands of stars. I had never seen the sky this beautiful. I
had never seen anything like this all my life. Taking a few steps back, I seated myself on a stone that
stood like a miniature plateau above the surrounding grass. I had been told this would be the best
spot to see the sky tonight, and I had not been told a lie. I looked straight up so that the rest of the
Earth escaped my view, so that there would be nothing but the endless void above me. It would have
been intimidating, if not for the pure beauty of the stars that pierced through the dark of night. I
slowly looked down upon the town, away from the harsh contrast of black and white to instead a
blur of color. Children dashed in small circles around their parents, women danced across the square
wearing vibrant dresses, men sat to the side as they drank, made cheerful conversation, and smiled,
admiring the festival around them just as I was from the top of my overlook, hidden by the night. I
didn't want to leave. This was my new favorite location in town. Unfortunately, I didn't want to miss
the festival either. The sounds of the celebration managed to lure me away. Beginning my descent, I
could hear the music grow louder and louder. I slid down the earthen wall I had strolled by most
days of my life, but only climbed for the first time this evening. I considered finding

cracks in the road and sidewalks, the overgrown vegetation trails up through the buildings. Infused

the air. People pass back and forth, their heads tilted down, pushing forward with an urgent
persistence. Cander walks with a similar determination, his head tilted down, the surrounding

"Unusual." he remarks after further inspection. "I know. Dilated almost three times the usual size."
the paramedic says. "No. They're normal." "Normal?" "They're not blue." "Blue?" the confused
paramedic asks. Cander goes back inside the apartment, again he combs through the debris. His eyes

Greene says reentering the room. Cander doesn't respond and keeps searching. "What are you

cannot tell the ocean from the sky. Ripples and waves unceasingly flow toward you, eventually

vapors consuming your sight and prickly thorns on the dark path.
Lastly, a land where humans like us live. Farming, sewing, writing, painting, selling goods and little
kids cycling or running through the streets. All of these territories united all together, no matter
what. Until chaos strikes like a meteor and all the union was burned into ashes.

for a ride to the Sunshine cruise liner. It will be en route from San Francisco, California to Honolulu,
Hawaii. It will pass through vast seas, emerald tropical islands, and reflect the beauty of the ocean
life. For all this Christian will walk down its planks, as liken unto a rich man. In reality, he is a low
class, paycheck to paycheck, average built, six ft. 2in. dark–haired, ordinary, country guy. He would
have likely never done this, had it not been for her. Rose is the tall, slim, beautiful Thai girl that
came into his life and finally, can take her hand, as they walk their way to this Pacific honeymoon.
Unknown to Christian and Rose, this voyage is will bring them the adventure, Golden Ties, and love
of their lifetime.
Christian and Rose arrive at the cruise just before it launches. They climb on board and find their
palace cabin. Just then, they heard the ship plunge into the waves of the vast ocean. Overhead, a
seagull flies. Then it is gone; into the light, misty fog. Later, the seagull returns, with it, the sun, as it

The Meeting of Spring and Winter
A Narrative Writing Based on the Chippewa Native American Story of the Spring Beauty
At the end of another winter, an old man sat in his lodge which stood on the banks of a frozen river.
The days were not as frigid as they had been in the last three months. His fire was dying, yet the air
was not so cold. He was ancient and solitary. Age had turned his long hair a snowy white, and
caused every bone in his body to creak and groan as he stood up to stroke the glowing embers of his
fire. The days passed slowly as he listened to the sound of the snow whirling outside. One day a
beautiful young woman entered his lodge. Her deep, dark eyes danced and shone, and her cheeks
were bright. She wore a crown of primroses in her raven–black hair and wore a beautiful dress
strewn with wildflowers. Her figure was tall, slender, and lithe, and she had a dignified grace about
her. Her movements looked like a weightless dance upon a sunbeam. In her hand she held flowers,
which carried the sweet–smelling fragrance of springtime.
"I am the Spirit of Spring. The name given to me by the earth's children is Seegwun," said the lovely
visitor.
The old man looked up to meet the girl's eyes, and smiling said, "Beautiful one. I cannot tell you
how delighted I am to see you have come to visit again. Come sit here with me by the fire. I will tell
you my own wonderful deeds. Then you

There was a noticeable shift in temperature as the sun began its slow descent toward the horizon, the

"Right," Booker confirmed, his tough–guy mask showing little emotion. He was happy to let Tom
take the lead, especially if it helped bolster his confidence. He trusted the young officer's abilities,
and there was no point in them both fighting for the dominant role.
Tyrell nodded at the two teens by his side. "This is Seth and Joel," he introduced. "They're friends of
mine."
"Don't care," Tom replied in a bored voice. "Let's get down to business."
A wide grin spread across Tyrell's face. So far, McQuaid and Brady were living up to their
reputations, and he mentally started to visualize all the cool things he could buy with the extra
money he would make after recruiting the two misfits. But first they had to pass the test, and with a
twitch of his head, he turned and walked toward the back of the building. "Follow me."

The Journey Of Rain Poured Down
The Journey Rain poured down, creating small streams flowing down the sides of the street. A leaf
lay along the surface of the stream of muddy water, struggling to stay afloat as rain continued to fall.
The wind moved the branches of the trees so forcefully it was as if they were trying to escape the
swampy ground. Her concentration was broken as the white mail truck came into sight. Andy had
been peering out the window in the den for what seemed like hours waiting for her letter to arrive.
The mailman carried a blue umbrella covering his bag full of envelopes. He looked rather young. He
attempted to jump over the stream, but he missed, landing right in the middle making the leaf
drown. His head moved around as he checked to make sure no one saw. After shaking his legs to try
and get the water out of his shoes he headed up the stairs to Andy's house.

Where The Girl On The Sea Are Short Story
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
I perched myself upon a weathered rock. My footprints left tattoos in the sand. The wind was
etherized in the sky. The sun smoldered in silence. Centered in a quiet oasis, the blue beast howled.
It stretched out before me like the land was coated in oil paints: cerulean and cyan, electric and
Egyptian, teal and turquoise.
The moment that I stood before this righteous beast was captured and bottled up in my beloved
father's camera.
This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that
smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Who embraced

Under stacks of photographs of my birth, my sister's birth, and my father's birth, an image of a little
girl, perched on a smooth and cold rock, lay. It was out of place among our birth photos and I pulled
it out to put it among the vacation pictures. A hazy smile tugged at my lips.
I remembered her. A wild girl from the sea, with stormy eyes and seaweed hair. I remembered her
untamed rage and her indestructible heart. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose
bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who
I'd become, a blue light locked under a bell jar.
My squirming turned to fidgeting and kicking and screaming and roaring and tearing and red radical
rage. I burned with my regret as fuel. I tore up the fragile skin that held me captive.
My mother and father have sat me down and told me that I was born to put on latex gloves and
operate on the sick, or stand before a judge and make defend the innocent, or swear to protect the
citizens of my city with a gold lacquered badge and gun.
As I held that photograph in my polished fingers, I realized that my fate was not where I had
guessed. That I was not to live a tranquil life among the people who raised me.
I realized that I was meant to be before beasts with bare feet and wide eyes. That my place was not
in offices and cubicles, nor was it among the stars. My fate was entwined in the vines of the jungle,
in the fur of tigers, in the claws

Juliet's Gushing Speech in Romeo and Juliet Essay
The Gallop Apace speech is set in Romeo and Juliet just after Romeo has killed Tybalt. This has
resulted in him being banished from Verona. This is dramatic irony because we as the audience
know this but Juliet does not and continues to gush about their happy future together as she waits for
him to return to her to consummate their marriage. This builds up the suspense as we wander what
might happen when Juliet finds out that her newly wed husband has killed her dear cousin Tybalt.
We know that everything in this speech is unlikely to materlise and therefore it foreshadows their
impending death.

Phoebus was the sun god and Phaeton was his son. Phaeton wanted to drive his father's magnificent
sun carriage across the sky. Phoebus forbade this because he deemed it too dangerous, but his unruly
son ignored and did it anyway. Phaeton loses control of "the fiery footed steeds" and crashed
tragically killing himself and scorching the earth. This foreshadows the lover's death and hints that
when they do die it will affect many people in many ways. The contemporary Shakespearean
audience is a lot more likely to understand this reference then a audience today so they would
understand this and what it implies.
Throughout the speech there are constant references to night. Night is normally associated with a
negative conations because especially in the Tudor times but Juliet is referring to it in a positive
manner. She sees it as the "love–performing night". This juxtaposition is due to her strong
passionate feelings for Romeo and her want (or as she would see it, need) to consummate their
marriage. This need is emphasized with the constant use of imperatives. "Come" "Give me" and
"Bring" are all examples of these. They show the urgency Juliet feels to see Romeo.
Many metaphors are also used. Juliet talks about "cutting Romeo out in little stars" so she can keep
him forever. There is also a lot of falconry and ethereal imagery used. The falconry refers to Juliet's
need to control and be able to summon Romeo at will. "Hood my unmann'd

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Bay Of Naples '
When I was looking through 17th–18th century European artwork in the Norton Simon Museum,
there was one piece of art that really stood out to me. That beautiful art piece was the Bay of Naples
by Claude–Joseph Vernet. This piece stood out to me because of the beautiful scenery that is
displayed and the deep serenity the piece gives me when I look at it. The Bay of Naples is a painting
of a landscape that captures the daily life of the bay. The materials used for this painting was oil on
canvas. Claude–Joseph Vernet made a painting that brings your attention to the foreground. In the
front, there is a boat being boarded. Some of the people that are not boarding the boat are standing
by the sea. In the sea, some boats are sailing off in the distance. One of the boats in the distance is a
large boat that gives the illusion of being three–dimensional. The form gives this illusion because of
the reflection in the sea. If you look in the lower–right, you can see the light from the sun
illuminating the sky. This light is hidden behind a large mountain that also has a three–dimensional
form. There is also lots of texture in the painting. Some texture is seen in the mountains and ground
giving a rough look, and some is seen in the sea in the form of ripples. On top of the mountain in the
lower–right, there is greenery that has an illusion of being light and feathery. In that mountain, there
is an arch that makes the other side visible. In the far distance, you can see a faint

suffocating smell of dead fish all around me. I bump into the rough sides of the cave as it begins to
narrow. The temperature seems to drop with every step that I take, and the harshly chilling breeze is

the darkness. I am alone and all I wish was there to be someone to show me the way out. I suddenly
notice the distant sound of waves crashing against the rocks and then I feel shockingly freezing
water washing over my feet within seconds. I start to run, but eventually the cave comes to an end. I

"Let there be light, Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens
from the waters of the earth. Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry
ground may appear. "Let the land sprout with vegetation–every sort of seed–bearing plant, and trees
that grow seed–bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which
they came. Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark
the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth. Let the waters

multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth. Let the earth produce every
sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind–livestock, small animals that scurry along
the ground, and wild animals. Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign
over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the

Emily Dickinson's 'ILl Tell You How The Sun Rose'
In a body, nerves run underneath the layers of skin and grant a body the ability to feel. Without skin,
the slightest touch would cause a piercing pain, no matter what surface a person touched. If a body
had more layers of skin, it would be harder to feel the details of the surfaces, and everything would
lose its meaning. By missing a layer of skin, this enhances a person's ability to feel his or her
surroundings, which makes a person more sensitive to their surroundings. Emily Dickinson's
sensitivity, once compared to "missing a layer of skin," is reflected in her poetry.
Emily Dickinson expresses her sensitivity by writing details that most people would not notice.
Emily Dickinson shows her sensitivity in her poem, "I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose." She writes
"I'll tell you how the sun rose,– / a ribbon at a time. / The steeples swam in amethyst /... The hill
untied their bonnets" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" lines 1,2,3,5). An insensitive person might
describe the sunrise as a "transition from a dark night into bright day." Emily Dickinson, on the
other hand, describes the sunrise by the way the colors come across the sky. An example of this is
the second line, "a ribbon at a time" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" line 2). This line illustrates
how the sun slowly unravels colors into the sky, extending the process so it can be enjoyed longer.
Also, when Emily Dickinson writes "The steeples swam in amethyst," she paints a picture for the
reader to depict a church's

How Basketball Changed My Life
I gazed outside my window, looking up to the crystal clear sky that appeared to mirror my own
image if I looked close enough. The sun was out, shining bright per usual but with a hint of sparkle.
The weather was a perfect way to start my day, but per usual my brother and his friends were
outside playing an intense game of basketball. Up and down the ball would dribble, "whump
whump" until one of them would shoot, "swish" going in the net, this causing them to burst into a
loud celebration. Nine year old me always found the daily routine of my brother and his peers
annoying. For a peaceful day, the sound of a basketball dribbling was enough to put me in a foul
mood, distributed with shouting and the sound of the ball hitting the ground every second. This
scenery became a daily routine but I figured it wouldn't be for long because I was going to put an
end to this misery. Quickly I slipped on my tennis shoes and walked across the street, each step
seemed to take forever, but eventually I was where I needed to be, standing in the middle of the
court while the game still continued. "Stop," I firmly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

appreciation to my brothers and his friends, despite not wanting to admit such a thing. Their

The sky melted from a clear blue to creamsicle orange and pinks to a dark, starry navy. I could see
the sun's transition really well inside the little glass diner I worked at, Cosmo's. The ceiling and
walls were constructed entirely of glass, and blue lights made up the floor, giving the small diner a
cold, lonely feeling. The booths were silver with pastel blue cushions, the tables silver with
shimmery blue tablecloths, pressed under glass. The bar table, that enveloped me, silver with blue

Descriptive Essay About My Friend
Tickle
When the spring breeze starts to tickle my nose, my heart starts to tickle for the first time. It seems
like I have a hay fever in my heart. It is beginning of my 4th grade year, but I do not really need to
worry about making a new friend, because in my elementary school everyone's friend each other.
Eui is one of my new friend that I met in 4th grade. He is tall as a redwood. His eye is really round
like as a clock, but when I see his cute face I feel like all the clocks in the world are not working at
all. My eye become camera when I see him. I only focused on him, accordingly everyone is blurry
except him. His smile for me makes my heart tickle. Naturally, we also start to hang out after school.
While I am waiting for him in front of my apartment smelling a fragrant spring breeze I start to
concern about him. I could not hide my feeling anymore. I want to say that I like him as much as the
size of the galaxy. CLANGING CLANGING, he appeared around the corner riding his bicycle.
Bicycle wheels turn fast like as he is in hurry like Eui does. After he saw me he starts to smile at me
while shaking hand with one hand that he is not holding a handle. His smile for me makes my heart
tickle.
I used concrete phrases to describe how I view him and what did I smell that time.
I used figurative language to describe his height and face to explain more details.
I used sound devices to show how nervous I am in front of him.

Song Analysis Of Penthouse Cloud
I have chosen a song entitled "Penthouse Cloud" sung by the band "The Internet" which was
released in 2015. Based on the lyrics, there are a lot of significant linguistic foregrounding included
in the song using the techniques of parallelism and deviation.
First of all, the parallelism shown from the lyrics can be analyzed through repetition, phonological
and syntactic/grammatical elements. The repetition can be seen in the bridge of the song; "It's a war
outside, It's a war outside, It's a war outside" which is repeated for 3 times. Next, for the
phonological element, there are many rhyming style of the verses from the song which are;
1) Father who art in heaven, Is this how you saw it when you made your creation? [n]
2) And the sky turns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also some verses that have the syntactic/grammar parallelism which are;
1) Is this how you saw it when you made your creation?, Is this what you wanted?, Is this what you
wanted?
2) Or maybe we'll find paradise in the sky when we die, When we die, When we die, yeah
3) And the clouds turns black, And the sky turns white, And the days turn night
For deviation element, it can be found in term of phonological and semantic aspects. The
phonological deviation from the lyrics can be seen in the verse "I'll fight 'til.." which the word 'til
used the omission of initial part of the word called 'aphesis'. In the chorus "Father who art in
heaven", the word 'art' shows the sub–standard pronunciation of old English which refers to 'are' in
modern English. For semantic deviation, the verse "Or maybe we'll find paradise in the sky" can be
considered as a metaphor sentence since it is absurd to the mind of the listener as it is a matter of
unseen world where the place of paradise cannot be found literally in the sky. The most significant
features that stand out the most are the verses that are repeated thrice in the lyrics; "It's a war
outside" and "when we die" that used the technique of parallelism. For deviation element, they are
the ones that contain question marks which being emphasized by the singer to make the listener of
the song focuses more on the issue given through the theoretical

The Most Important Person In My Life
Throughout my life, I've had the opportunity to meet many people who have helped me become the
person I am today. But there's one person in particular who I know I couldn't live without and
therefore is the most important person in my life. This person will do anything she can for me, gives
me wonderful advice, and has taught me a lot about life. She is my grandmother, "Nana" as we call
her , and her name is Mirta. I've know her person ever since I was born. We met in a hospital in
Boston when I was about a week old. Although I don't remember of course she does. According to
her I was wrapped around two blankets when she first saw me. She'd made fun of how small I was.
Ever since we met our bond is unbreakable. Nana is spiritual, wise, and understanding and I choose
these qualities to describe her because these are what makes her amazing and makes her who she is.
How can I describe an amazing women? She is five foot tall with shoulder lengths, with a wine

with a little bit of wrinkles on her eyes and cheeks. She has narrow ears and thin eyebrows. She
likes to wear conservative church clothings. She loves loose and colorful dresses with her hoop

crystal blue water washed over my toes. It was a beautiful sunny day with a gentle breeze. Waves
were crashing on the rocks, and the sun made the ocean glitter as if someone poured a bucket of

colored cliffs were so high that they looked as if they were going to touch the pale blue sky. I felt

the season 2008/9 as part of Setanta's live coverage ending, post the broadcaster's demise, at the
2009 FA Cup Final at Wembley.
Importantly, Venatrack has recently been awarded prestigious contracts with two of the most well

estimated to be worth over £1 billion worldwide.
Beyond the contract with the Premier League, Venatrack anticipates achieving comparable contracts

desire to get away. Nick, Gatsby, Wilson,
Tom and Daisy all move, or have the intention of moving. Not only does this movement seem to
foreshadow events in the book, but it also seems to lead to the conclusion that society as a whole in
the 1920's was rather unstable and was undergoing constant change. Not all the characters move in

Nick says, "[h]e talked a lot about the past and
I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into

if he talks about the past then he will be able to change the future for the better. The sun also stands
for power and greatness, which made Jay Gatsby shine right through Jimmie Gatz. He starts of
engulfed in darkness, as his dream does not exist. From there he seems to be obsessed with this
reverie, and effectively kills off Jimmie Gatz and creates Jay Gatsby.
This new personality is formed when the sun rises, bathing him in light. Jay Gatsby "sprang from his
Platonic conception of himself"(104), and even with this change he still believed that "the rock of
the world was founded securely on a fairy's wing."(105) This new light blinds the people that look at
him, and covers up his old self. Although it covers him, some people like Mr. Sloane see him as
Jimmie Gatz, and are disgusted by it. The first time Tom meets Gatsby is when he, Mr. Sloane and a

Tom states later, "I may be old fashioned in my ideas but women run around too much these days to
suit me. They meet all kinds of crazy fish."(110)

The Kingdoms Of Day And Night
The Kingdoms of Day and Night
It would seem the people did not understand the urgency of the situation, the years of history and
development of the kingdom was under siege and they were only moments away from obliteration.
Still they continued to walk along the gravel roads, seemingly unaware of the looming phantom of
absolute destruction that shrouded itself within the unsuspecting crossroads that divided the city. It
was not your typical tale of two cities, in fact to call these two cities was an insult to the efforts that
were taken to distinguish these two powerful kingdoms, distinguishable factors that could only be
ascertained from within as any third party who were to travel between the two mighty nations would
believe them to be one in the same. Only through distinctive circumstance could the kingdoms be
perceived as separate, even their oblivious gravel roads and the people who strolled along them were

them as if they were kingdoms of night and day. Hospitality was the key to the Kingdom of the Sun
while intimidation and exploitation was the driving force behind the Kingdom of the Silver Sky.

Assimilation and Accomodation in Every Interaction
The two processes that are involved in every interaction are assimilation and accommodation.
Assimilation means gaining some knowledge and making it fit in with what you already know. This
is a necessity in order to develop our cognitive structures. This is a process that everyone encounters
even though they may not be aware of when it is happening. Our perceptions of things are enhanced
when something of the outside world is assimilated or added into our internal world.
Accommodation is the changing of one's structure of thought. During this process, the gaining of

This is during the first stage of the sensori–motor period. Assimilation is the most well known
activity during this stage, but accommodation is also brought into play. These two processes begin
during this first stage, but do not start to develop until later in the child's life and in a later period in
development.
During preoperational stage of cognitive development, as defined by Piaget, children begin to
assimilate as a way of adaptive behavior. They are at the age now where they can begin to really
take in new knowledge and new things. They are able to go back to their previous way of thinking,
but with some new information. The formation of stable concepts and beginnings of mental
reasoning are characteristics of this stage. The child begins to acquire new information and
assimilates this information to reach a level of stability. Children's thinking during this period is
illogical and they lack the ability to make connections between categories. An example of
assimilation would be a child being outside during the day and seeing the bright circle of light
coming from the sky and being told by their parent that it is the sun. One night the child is outside
and sees the bright circle of light coming from the sky and says it is the sun. The child associates
any bright circle of light coming from the sky the sun. The child has not yet distinguished between
the sun and the moon.

The House by The Railroad
Edward Hopper is a renowned American painter. In the poem "the house by the Railroad," he tries to
portray a picture of a house erected beside the railroad. This poem seems to bear a lot more than
what its simple title indicates. He has used the railroad to emphasize the rift between the viewer's
world and the picture space. The more one tries to penetrate the depths of his paintings, the more
difficult it becomes. Hopper's artistic vision was in line with his view of the contemporary world
and nature. This piece of art symbolizes loss that is felt when present progress leaves behind an
agrarian society the central theme being the Alienation of modern life.
In this picture, Victorian style house stands alone in the field. A railroad track cuts through the
foreground. There is a bare sky behind the house with no secondary objects in the immediate
surroundings of the building. this enables us to keenly focus on the articulation of the building and
its relationship with its environment.
This picture can be broken down into two basics: the house and the train line. However, this is not
really what Hopper is trying to convey to us. Life in this country is made of pure isolation in nature.
The presentation of the train cutting across the land conveys how the train serves those in the
country different from those in the city.
In the use of light to depict the mood of the situation, Hopper uses intense light

Symbolism In Kate Chopin's The Story Of An Hour
There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don't make sense at all. For
example, "the kiss of death" is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice,
a way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word
with something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a
kiss of death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has
been used more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin's short story, "The Story of an Hour", she
utilizes imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and
cheerful imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs.
Mallard's emotional conflict with her physical surroundings.
After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state
of suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her
house. As she looked out the window, she saw that "There were patches of blue sky showing here
and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other,"(Chopin 1). In this
example, Chopin uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over

Literary Analysis Of Snow Whites
Allusion: reference to literary work, historical figure, or event Examples: She had skin as pale as
Snow Whites. Our friend was the Nancy Drew of our school. Her hair was as long as Rapunzel's.
Uses: To paint an example of something they are trying to convey; make it easier to describe
something. Argumentation: writer's attempt to convince reader of something Examples: The school
should offer advisory instead of after school because athletes aren't able to participate in after school
studies because of sports. Wings with bones are better than boneless wings because they hold more
flavor and have a better texture than boneless wings. Black is the best clothing color because it can
go with anything. Uses: To show both sides but persuade the reader to agree with them. Coherence:
clarity and logical cohesion that binds together parts of a story Examples: First, they finished their
homework, then, they went to the coffee shop to hang out with friends. The painter had just finished
in his art room, his hands covered in the blues of the canvas. As he roamed the halls, he touched
everything, coloring them in the blues of his painting. The bell rung and the students stampeded into
the halls. Lunch had always been the best part about the school day. Too bad the next time that bell
rung, they'd have to return to their torture. Uses: Make sure that everything in the writing flows
together and could be understood. Description: clearly depicts a scene, person, thing, or idea

Statement Of Purpose For Graduate Schemes In Advertising...
When looking for graduate schemes in advertising and marketing Sky stood out especially to me.
Firstly because its name recognition immediately jumped out at me, but also because of how broad
and varied the work at Sky appears to be. Nation wide Sky advertises a multitude of channels and
programming across all medias whether that be physical, digital or televised. The skills and
experiences to be gained by working as part of such a large organisation and such a professional
team both intrigues and excites me.
As a huge fan of both film and sports, the possibility to work with Sky Cinema or Sky Sports on the
production or marketing of advertising campaigns with content that I have a true passion for is an
opportunity that I would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Advertising and marketing appeals to me because it allows me to continue my creative endeavours
in a professional setting.
Sky has established itself as the premier provider of content for families and dominated the living
room in British households. BT is the major threat to this position as it invests major money into
sports programming and marketing. Currently BT's major investments have been into football and
boxing, two of the biggest sports in Britain.
Regarding football BT have recently attained the rights to both the Champions and Europa League's.
Whilst this is the case Sky must focus on its advertisement and marketing of the Premier League.
Conveying to the British public that it is the best league in the world, with Sky the premier provider
of the biggest fixtures and the best coverage of the sport available anywhere – through multiple
dedicated channels and ultra HD coverage with SkyQ. BT have just 42 Premier League games
available whilst Sky have 126. Advertising the fact that Sky is the home of triple as many of the top
tier match ups in the biggest league in the world should secure football fans with more than enough
reason to remain with, or join Sky.
BT's partnership with BoxNation and Frank Warren would appear to be an attempt to contest Sky in
providing boxing coverage in the UK. Established fighters such as Anthony Joshua, Kell Brook

F. Scott Fitzgerald 's ' The Great Gatsby '
Intro: For My IOP I rewrote the end to the Great Gatsby. In this alternate ending, Myrtle never dies,
and actually the beginning to this alternate ending takes place when Gatsby, Daisy, Nick, Jordan,
and tom are all heading back from the hotel room in New York City. The narrator is still Nick
Carraway.
A sudden emptiness seemed to flow from the sweltering air and into our thoughts. The drive back
from New York felt hauntingly isolated. Uncomfortable silence filled the yellow car. The silence
was only to be broken by warm air whistling as Daisy's white dress swooshed around through the
gentle breeze. Gatsby waited outside of Daisy's house, but nothing was yet to change. Gatsby's pure
happiness faded as he watched Daisy return to her husky and fractious husband. She went back to
her husband and her heedless existence. Gatsby a waited for Daisy on his back porch, pondering
what could have been, but still waiting for his life to become of what he had been eagerly awaiting
for the past five years. But as the sun began to set, Daisy did not come back. As the yellow and
orange glow of the setting sun began to become prominent in the sky, it made the green light
invisible to the eyes of one who is seeking it. Gatsby's eyes continued to stare passionately with
great sorrow across the sound at the currently invisible green light. His dream must have seemed so
close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. Yet, he did not know that it was already behind him. He

Clap Jack Monologue

  • 1. Clap Jack Monologue After leaving Mr.Leroy behind for having a possible heart attack I commenced my journey with a goal of liberating Mr. Leroyś family from slavery. I had to think long and hard about how I was going to get nourishment as well as where I was going to sleep when night approached. It was a very chilly evening and, the sky looked exceedingly dreary as I rode Flap–Jack down the dusty road. It had been about 3 hours since I started riding. Then all of a sudden I heard a loud boom. I muttered under my breath, looks like storms coming our way boy better find someplace where we can stay the night. At that instant, I yanked on the rein that was connected to Flap–Jack's mouth and turned us both around so that we were heading towards the woods. Before I had heard many cases of people in Buxton and how they would go into the woods and, witness human beings living in light brown bungalows. Afterward, they would come back and talk about how the homes looked pretty pleasant to live in.Using all my clout I pulled on Flap–Jack's rein's which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, I scurried away." " Wow." I glanced at the picture again, and the boy looked just like me. " Is that me?" Max took a long stare at me and then looked at the picture to see if the faces matched. " Elijah, is it you?" Ma and pa had talked once about how I had an older brother but when I asked questions about him they wouldn't answer. " Yes, it is." We gave each other a long hug and talked for a while until the preacher called us in for lunch. I remembered when I heard the voice sounding almost like a scream. I asked Max "Does anybody else live here?" as we walked down the hall. "Yes, the owner but don't talk to the preacher about it." "why?" "He tied her up in the corner of a room and told me to never speak about her whenever guest came around." "We need to get her free." "Okay but how?" "First let's go ... • 3. Explosion: An Uncontrollation In Greek Myth Who doesn't have a favorite constellation? I have found myself looking at the night sky for years wondering this, and over these years I've found my favorite, though it may be cliché, this constellation is Orion. I don't have many reasons for this and honestly I believe the main reason is simply aesthetic preference. Another reason, however, is the Greek myth that goes with it. The constellation itself is located on the celestial equator, simply the projection of earth's equator in space, and can be seen throughout the world. It was named for the great hunter in Greek mythology, and is one of the most recognized constellations in the world. There are quite a few myths surrounding the constellation Orion, my favorite however states that Orion was a mortal man who was gifted to the gods of Olympus. Because of this he was a great hunter and spent his days taking down animals and monsters in sport, this drew the goddess Artemis's eye and the two of them became close friends. Throughout this bond Artemis began to forget her vows of eternal maidenhood and thought to marry Orion. Her brother Apollo wasn't pleased and to combat this he pointed out Orion as he swam. Apollo then taunted Artemis, daring she couldn't hit the unidentified item, and Artemis took the dare, killing Orion and out of respect for her hunting partner she placed him in the sky to hunt with his dogs forever. ... • 7. Essay on Hawaiian Navigation Hawaiian Navigation How did the Polynesians find their way to Hawaii, over two thousand miles from any other land? Was it over population at home, or political turmoil? Whatever reason for leaving these people used amazing knowledge and skill of the ocean and of the sky to navigate them to this new land. They faced the unknown and braved into the wide–open ocean for long periods of time. The real focus in this paper is on the navigation techniques that they used in these voyages throughout the Pacific. It's impossible to teach someone the significance or the act of loving the stars and the ocean but that's what makes navigation without instruments (wayfinding) so beautiful. One can "give the heavens a meaning his own meaning" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then in the 1980's came the voyages of rediscovery navigated by Nainoa Thompson from Hawaii to Tahiti and from Tahiti back to Hawaii. Thompson was the first Hawaiian to sail this route in over 500 years. The voyages in between took the Hokule'a (some 16000 miles) to the Society Islands, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and back home via Aitutaki, Tahiti, Rangiroa in the Tuamotu Archipelago (Baybayan, Kawaharada, 1996). The Hokule'a became the symbol of pride in Polynesian heritage that links all the people of Polynesia together. In the 1990's there were more voyages to Marquesan Islands and from the West Coast of the United States up to Alaska. This is when education became the focus of the voyages of the Hokule'a. They then built the Hawaiilo'a, another Polynesian voyaging canoe, this one made of traditional materials. The Hawaiilo'a added to the curiosity and the revival of culture throughout the world. The natives of all ands throughout the world are figuring out the importance of their cultures and bringing back the knowledge. • 9. The Rocket Man Literary Devices In the short story, The Rocket Man, an adaptation of, The Illustrated Man, the author Ray Bradbury describes the life of an astronaut who is torn between living an ordinary life with his family and traveling through space on a rocketship. The story, written in 1951, is based around how the father's space travel affects his son, Doug, and the father's relationship with his wife. The Rocket Man, was written during the modern period of literature, a time when science fiction and new technology was up and coming. During the 1950's, the United States was at the beginning of its space program, and space travel was quickly becoming a reality. The Rocket Man was influenced by its time period, and the story describes a futuristic place where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 'Sleep good Doug?' he said, as if he has been here all the time, and hadn't been gone for three months" (2). The author writing through Doug in the first person allows him to give more detail and clarity to the situation as well as highlight how Doug views his father as a man who leaves his family for a long period of time, yet returns as if he never left. Doug's view of his father after his return sheds light on the recurring notion of a poorly functioning family, a key theme within the reading. Furthermore, the author inserts dialogue within Doug's story of events to add more credibility to Doug's version of events. Dialogue is added when Doug speaks with his father while on vacation, "Doug .... I want you to promise me something. 'What?' Don't ever be a Rocket Man. .... I mean it" (7). Doug's conversation with his father is an example of how Bradbury tells the story through Doug, just another way the author is able to exemplify the father's unhappiness and dysfunctional family while keeping a consistent and eventful storyline. Second, Bradbury integrates conflict and irony into the story to demonstrate the recurring unhappiness from the characters. One major form of conflict is within Doug's father, as he speaks with Doug about his internal struggle, "Don't ever be a Rocket Man. 'I stopped.' I mean it, 'he said.' Because when you're out there you want to be here, and when you're here you want to be out there" (7). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had never seen the sky this beautiful. I had never seen anything like this all my life. Taking a few steps back, I seated myself on a stone that stood like a miniature plateau above the surrounding grass. I had been told this would be the best spot to see the sky tonight, and I had not been told a lie. I looked straight up so that the rest of the Earth escaped my view, so that there would be nothing but the endless void above me. It would have been intimidating, if not for the pure beauty of the stars that pierced through the dark of night. I slowly looked down upon the town, away from the harsh contrast of black and white to instead a blur of color. Children dashed in small circles around their parents, women danced across the square wearing vibrant dresses, men sat to the side as they drank, made cheerful conversation, and smiled, admiring the festival around them just as I was from the top of my overlook, hidden by the night. I didn't want to leave. This was my new favorite location in town. Unfortunately, I didn't want to miss the festival either. The sounds of the celebration managed to lure me away. Beginning my descent, I could hear the music grow louder and louder. I slid down the earthen wall I had strolled by most days of my life, but only climbed for the first time this evening. I considered finding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Meeting Of Spring And Winter Mary Katherine Grondin Mrs. Dinsmore Honors American Literature 11 September 2014 The Meeting of Spring and Winter A Narrative Writing Based on the Chippewa Native American Story of the Spring Beauty At the end of another winter, an old man sat in his lodge which stood on the banks of a frozen river. The days were not as frigid as they had been in the last three months. His fire was dying, yet the air was not so cold. He was ancient and solitary. Age had turned his long hair a snowy white, and caused every bone in his body to creak and groan as he stood up to stroke the glowing embers of his fire. The days passed slowly as he listened to the sound of the snow whirling outside. One day a beautiful young woman entered his lodge. Her deep, dark eyes danced and shone, and her cheeks were bright. She wore a crown of primroses in her raven–black hair and wore a beautiful dress strewn with wildflowers. Her figure was tall, slender, and lithe, and she had a dignified grace about her. Her movements looked like a weightless dance upon a sunbeam. In her hand she held flowers, which carried the sweet–smelling fragrance of springtime. "I am the Spirit of Spring. The name given to me by the earth's children is Seegwun," said the lovely visitor. The old man looked up to meet the girl's eyes, and smiling said, "Beautiful one. This foreshadows the lover's death and hints that when they do die it will affect many people in many ways. The contemporary Shakespearean audience is a lot more likely to understand this reference then a audience today so they would understand this and what it implies. Throughout the speech there are constant references to night. Night is normally associated with a negative conations because especially in the Tudor times but Juliet is referring to it in a positive manner. She sees it as the "love–performing night". This juxtaposition is due to her strong passionate feelings for Romeo and her want (or as she would see it, need) to consummate their marriage. This need is emphasized with the constant use of imperatives. "Come" "Give me" and "Bring" are all examples of these. They show the urgency Juliet feels to see Romeo. Many metaphors are also used. Juliet talks about "cutting Romeo out in little stars" so she can keep him forever. There is also a lot of falconry and ethereal imagery used. • 29. Analysis Of The Poem ' The Bay Of Naples ' When I was looking through 17th–18th century European artwork in the Norton Simon Museum, there was one piece of art that really stood out to me. That beautiful art piece was the Bay of Naples by Claude–Joseph Vernet. This piece stood out to me because of the beautiful scenery that is displayed and the deep serenity the piece gives me when I look at it. The Bay of Naples is a painting of a landscape that captures the daily life of the bay. The materials used for this painting was oil on canvas. Claude–Joseph Vernet made a painting that brings your attention to the foreground. In the front, there is a boat being boarded. Some of the people that are not boarding the boat are standing by the sea. In the sea, some boats are sailing off in the distance. One of the boats in the distance is a large boat that gives the illusion of being three–dimensional. The form gives this illusion because of the reflection in the sea. If you look in the lower–right, you can see the light from the sun illuminating the sky. This light is hidden behind a large mountain that also has a three–dimensional form. There is also lots of texture in the painting. Some texture is seen in the mountains and ground giving a rough look, and some is seen in the sea in the form of ripples. On top of the mountain in the lower–right, there is greenery that has an illusion of being light and feathery. In that mountain, there is an arch that makes the other side visible. • 39. Emily Dickinson's 'ILl Tell You How The Sun Rose' In a body, nerves run underneath the layers of skin and grant a body the ability to feel. Without skin, the slightest touch would cause a piercing pain, no matter what surface a person touched. If a body had more layers of skin, it would be harder to feel the details of the surfaces, and everything would lose its meaning. By missing a layer of skin, this enhances a person's ability to feel his or her surroundings, which makes a person more sensitive to their surroundings. Emily Dickinson's sensitivity, once compared to "missing a layer of skin," is reflected in her poetry. Emily Dickinson expresses her sensitivity by writing details that most people would not notice. Emily Dickinson shows her sensitivity in her poem, "I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose." She writes "I'll tell you how the sun rose,– / a ribbon at a time. / The steeples swam in amethyst /... The hill untied their bonnets" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" lines 1,2,3,5). An insensitive person might describe the sunrise as a "transition from a dark night into bright day." Emily Dickinson, on the other hand, describes the sunrise by the way the colors come across the sky. An example of this is the second line, "a ribbon at a time" ("I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose" line 2). This line illustrates how the sun slowly unravels colors into the sky, extending the process so it can be enjoyed longer. Also, when Emily Dickinson writes "The steeples swam in amethyst," she paints a picture for the reader to depict a church's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"I had to go down to the Pines today." "That's right, I saw that on the news. How was it?" "Nothing out of the ordinary... An overdose." Cander says, looking forward towards the barroom wall. "Oh," Chris takes a bigger sip of his drink. "That's a shame," A short, tense period of silence emerges. "Two years this October... Long time." "Long time. And a different one," Cander responds. Chris let's out a small, nervous laugh. "About that though, I just wanted to ask, if you ever saw something that could change the outcome of the overdose." "Outcome?" "Yeah, the end results." "You mean like, the person dying?" Chris says shrugging his shoulders. Cander nods a "yes". "Well, probably not adding the drugs in." Chris answers simply. "I mean the eyes. The person's eyes. I know when someone "had the blues", or whatever the slang was. That meant that their eyes had that bluish hue. That happens every time right because of the body's reaction?" Chris ... • 49. Descriptive Essay About My Friend Tickle When the spring breeze starts to tickle my nose, my heart starts to tickle for the first time. It seems like I have a hay fever in my heart. It is beginning of my 4th grade year, but I do not really need to worry about making a new friend, because in my elementary school everyone's friend each other. Eui is one of my new friend that I met in 4th grade. He is tall as a redwood. His eye is really round like as a clock, but when I see his cute face I feel like all the clocks in the world are not working at all. My eye become camera when I see him. I only focused on him, accordingly everyone is blurry except him. His smile for me makes my heart tickle. Naturally, we also start to hang out after school. While I am waiting for him in front of my apartment smelling a fragrant spring breeze I start to concern about him. I could not hide my feeling anymore. I want to say that I like him as much as the size of the galaxy. CLANGING CLANGING, he appeared around the corner riding his bicycle. Bicycle wheels turn fast like as he is in hurry like Eui does. After he saw me he starts to smile at me while shaking hand with one hand that he is not holding a handle. His smile for me makes my heart tickle. I used concrete phrases to describe how I view him and what did I smell that time. I used figurative language to describe his height and face to explain more details. I used sound devices to show how nervous I am in front of him. Dim When I try to open my little square ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Song Analysis Of Penthouse Cloud I have chosen a song entitled "Penthouse Cloud" sung by the band "The Internet" which was released in 2015. Based on the lyrics, there are a lot of significant linguistic foregrounding included in the song using the techniques of parallelism and deviation. First of all, the parallelism shown from the lyrics can be analyzed through repetition, phonological and syntactic/grammatical elements. The repetition can be seen in the bridge of the song; "It's a war outside, It's a war outside, It's a war outside" which is repeated for 3 times. Next, for the phonological element, there are many rhyming style of the verses from the song which are; 1) Father who art in heaven, Is this how you saw it when you made your creation? [n] 2) And the sky turns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are also some verses that have the syntactic/grammar parallelism which are; 1) Is this how you saw it when you made your creation?, Is this what you wanted?, Is this what you wanted? 2) Or maybe we'll find paradise in the sky when we die, When we die, When we die, yeah 3) And the clouds turns black, And the sky turns white, And the days turn night For deviation element, it can be found in term of phonological and semantic aspects. The phonological deviation from the lyrics can be seen in the verse "I'll fight 'til.." which the word 'til used the omission of initial part of the word called 'aphesis'. In the chorus "Father who art in heaven", the word 'art' shows the sub–standard pronunciation of old English which refers to 'are' in modern English. For semantic deviation, the verse "Or maybe we'll find paradise in the sky" can be considered as a metaphor sentence since it is absurd to the mind of the listener as it is a matter of unseen world where the place of paradise cannot be found literally in the sky. The most significant features that stand out the most are the verses that are repeated thrice in the lyrics; "It's a war outside" and "when we die" that used the technique of parallelism. For deviation element, they are the ones that contain question marks which being emphasized by the singer to make the listener of the song focuses more on the issue given through the theoretical ... • 53. The Most Important Person In My Life Throughout my life, I've had the opportunity to meet many people who have helped me become the person I am today. But there's one person in particular who I know I couldn't live without and therefore is the most important person in my life. This person will do anything she can for me, gives me wonderful advice, and has taught me a lot about life. She is my grandmother, "Nana" as we call her , and her name is Mirta. I've know her person ever since I was born. We met in a hospital in Boston when I was about a week old. Although I don't remember of course she does. According to her I was wrapped around two blankets when she first saw me. She'd made fun of how small I was. Ever since we met our bond is unbreakable. Nana is spiritual, wise, and understanding and I choose these qualities to describe her because these are what makes her amazing and makes her who she is. How can I describe an amazing women? She is five foot tall with shoulder lengths, with a wine color hair and a with these hazel green eyes. She has a light tan color. • 55. Descriptive Essay I sat in the ivory colored sand by the beach. I felt my toes sink and wiggle in the wet sand. The crystal blue water washed over my toes. It was a beautiful sunny day with a gentle breeze. Waves were crashing on the rocks, and the sun made the ocean glitter as if someone poured a bucket of sparkles into the water. You could hear the distant calls of seagulls every now and then. Obsidian colored cliffs were so high that they looked as if they were going to touch the pale blue sky. I felt something brush up against my ankles as a small tide came in. I looked down to see what the ocean brought to me. It was a green glass bottle and inside was some paper rolled up neatly. "I wonder what it could be," I wondered. I was hesitant to look inside, but my curiosity got the better of me and before I knew it my fingers were reaching into the tiny opening of the bottle. I slowly pulled out the slightly wet cream colored paper. I was careful not to rip it. I unraveled it and let it rest in my lap. The ink was blue, but the water had stained it in places. Splotches of ink were here and there. I looked closer at the words. "I wish I knew what this said," I thought, slightly perplexed as to what this cryptic language that had floated on the shore was. I put it in my picnic basket, packed up my other belongings, and headed back to my home by the edge of one of the cliffs. It overlooked the ocean, and the ocean was all I knew. I walked up to the doorstep and was greeted by the robot who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Essay on With the setting of the sun With the setting of the sun In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby, there is a constant feeling of movement and the desire to get away. Nick, Gatsby, Wilson, Tom and Daisy all move, or have the intention of moving. Not only does this movement seem to foreshadow events in the book, but it also seems to lead to the conclusion that society as a whole in the 1920's was rather unstable and was undergoing constant change. Not all the characters move in the same way, and this shows how different their backgrounds and lifestyles are. The main movement seems to be from west to east. Throughout the decades man is said to be progressing through the steps of evolution and toward the setting sun, or east to west. The characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nick says, "[h]e talked a lot about the past and I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy." (117) This shows how time could never change his dream, and that Gatsby feels that if he talks about the past then he will be able to change the future for the better. The sun also stands for power and greatness, which made Jay Gatsby shine right through Jimmie Gatz. He starts of engulfed in darkness, as his dream does not exist. From there he seems to be obsessed with this reverie, and effectively kills off Jimmie Gatz and creates Jay Gatsby. This new personality is formed when the sun rises, bathing him in light. Jay Gatsby "sprang from his Platonic conception of himself"(104), and even with this change he still believed that "the rock of the world was founded securely on a fairy's wing."(105) This new light blinds the people that look at him, and covers up his old self. Although it covers him, some people like Mr. Sloane see him as Jimmie Gatz, and are disgusted by it. The first time Tom meets Gatsby is when he, Mr. Sloane and a young woman stop by his house while out riding. Gatsby tells Tom that he knows Daisy, to which Tom states later, "I may be old fashioned in my ideas but women run around too much these days to suit me. They meet all kinds of crazy fish."(110) Slowly, as Jay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of those places may have had an impact on a person's life that changed him or her as a person. For others, some places may have a special meaning, teaching, or maybe because the best memories were made in that special place. For me, the best memories and the one place that I always remember is Woodburn Oregon. This city has so many good, happy, and bad memories that I still remember. These memories bring back my childhood and how my perspective of life changed. As a young child, growing up in Woodburn Oregon during the summer, I learned to not only appreciate everything I have, but to also work hard to be successful. Woodburn is a very beautiful, happy, and peaceful city that is full of nature. The city is surrounded by amazing trees, buildings, flowers, parks, and much more. The city also has great restaurants, theaters, museums and arcades. Woodburn also has amazing views and has great agricultural lands filled with flowers such as, colorful tulips, and roses. I remember going by a land filled with bright yellow and red tulips. As I was passing by, I remember smelling the sweet smell of the flowers and the fresh air. The Kingdoms Of Day And Night The Kingdoms of Day and Night It would seem the people did not understand the urgency of the situation, the years of history and development of the kingdom was under siege and they were only moments away from obliteration. Still they continued to walk along the gravel roads, seemingly unaware of the looming phantom of absolute destruction that shrouded itself within the unsuspecting crossroads that divided the city. It was not your typical tale of two cities, in fact to call these two cities was an insult to the efforts that were taken to distinguish these two powerful kingdoms, distinguishable factors that could only be ascertained from within as any third party who were to travel between the two mighty nations would believe them to be one in the same. Only through distinctive circumstance could the kingdoms be perceived as separate, even their oblivious gravel roads and the people who strolled along them were strikingly similar The aforementioned circumstances were manifested solely from a traveler 's interaction with the two kingdoms, the sense of hospitality and the lack thereof was what segmented them as if they were kingdoms of night and day. Hospitality was the key to the Kingdom of the Sun while intimidation and exploitation was the driving force behind the Kingdom of the Silver Sky. Assimilation and Accomodation in Every Interaction The two processes that are involved in every interaction are assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation means gaining some knowledge and making it fit in with what you already know. This is a necessity in order to develop our cognitive structures. This is a process that everyone encounters even though they may not be aware of when it is happening. Our perceptions of things are enhanced when something of the outside world is assimilated or added into our internal world. Accommodation is the changing of one's structure of thought. This is during the first stage of the sensori–motor period. Assimilation is the most well known activity during this stage, but accommodation is also brought into play. These two processes begin during this first stage, but do not start to develop until later in the child's life and in a later period in development. During preoperational stage of cognitive development, as defined by Piaget, children begin to assimilate as a way of adaptive behavior. They are at the age now where they can begin to really take in new knowledge and new things. They are able to go back to their previous way of thinking, but with some new information. The formation of stable concepts and beginnings of mental reasoning are characteristics of this stage. The child begins to acquire new information and assimilates this information to reach a level of stability. Children's thinking during this period is illogical and they lack the ability to make connections between categories. An example of assimilation would be a child being outside during the day and seeing the bright circle of light coming from the sky and being told by their parent that it is the sun. One night the child is outside and sees the bright circle of light coming from the sky and says it is the sun. The child associates any bright circle of light coming from the sky the sun. • 69. Analysis Of The House By The Railroad Surname 6 Name Professor's Name Course Date The House by The Railroad Edward Hopper is a renowned American painter. In the poem "the house by the Railroad," he tries to portray a picture of a house erected beside the railroad. This poem seems to bear a lot more than what its simple title indicates. He has used the railroad to emphasize the rift between the viewer's world and the picture space. The more one tries to penetrate the depths of his paintings, the more difficult it becomes. Hopper's artistic vision was in line with his view of the contemporary world and nature. This piece of art symbolizes loss that is felt when present progress leaves behind an agrarian society the central theme being the Alienation of modern life. In this picture, Victorian style house stands alone in the field. A railroad track cuts through the foreground. There is a bare sky behind the house with no secondary objects in the immediate surroundings of the building. this enables us to keenly focus on the articulation of the building and its relationship with its environment. This picture can be broken down into two basics: the house and the train line. However, this is not really what Hopper is trying to convey to us. Life in this country is made of pure isolation in nature. The presentation of the train cutting across the land conveys how the train serves those in the country different from those in the city. In the use of light to depict the mood of the situation, Hopper uses intense light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Symbolism In Kate Chopin's The Story Of An Hour There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don't make sense at all. For example, "the kiss of death" is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice, a way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word with something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin's short story, "The Story of an Hour", she utilizes imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard's emotional conflict with her physical surroundings. After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house. As she looked out the window, she saw that "There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other,"(Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over the course of her marriage, Louise Mallard had been suppressing these feelings of entrapment, causing them to build on themselves like the heavy weight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this alternate ending, Myrtle never dies, and actually the beginning to this alternate ending takes place when Gatsby, Daisy, Nick, Jordan, and tom are all heading back from the hotel room in New York City. The narrator is still Nick Carraway. A sudden emptiness seemed to flow from the sweltering air and into our thoughts. The drive back from New York felt hauntingly isolated. Uncomfortable silence filled the yellow car. The silence was only to be broken by warm air whistling as Daisy's white dress swooshed around through the gentle breeze. Gatsby waited outside of Daisy's house, but nothing was yet to change. Gatsby's pure happiness faded as he watched Daisy return to her husky and fractious husband. She went back to her husband and her heedless existence. Gatsby a waited for Daisy on his back porch, pondering what could have been, but still waiting for his life to become of what he had been eagerly awaiting for the past five years. But as the sun began to set, Daisy did not come back. As the yellow and orange glow of the setting sun began to become prominent in the sky, it made the green light invisible to the eyes of one who is seeking it.
