* A formal assessment of something with the intention of
instituting change if necessary.
* According to Cambridge dictionary
“ To think or talk about something again ,
in order to make changes to it or to make a
decision about it”.

* Review gives the reader a concise summary
of the content .
* Review offers a critical assessment of the
content.
* Analysing the work.
* Review suggests whether or not audience would appreciate it.

* Derived in 1570s

5. Elements of review
* Identification of genre or general nature of the
subject being reviewed.
* A discussion supported by evidence of the specific strengths
and weakness of the
subject reviewed .
* A comparison of the subject with related works, including
other works by the same author , artist or performer.

1. Critical Review – Examines an article or other work to
determine how effective the piece is at making argument or
point.
2. Literature Review – it’s a scholarly paper including
current knowledge ,substantive findings , theoretical and
methodological contributions to a particular topic.

7. 3. Narrative Review - Provides a synthesis of published literature on a topic and
describes its current state–of–art.
4. Systematic Review - Focuses on selected
studies combined with systematic method of
study.
● Combines the result of several studies to give
a treatment effect.

important for a manager?
1. For writing performance review of employees.
The performance review is a long established process that only works if both
parties are comfortable with the information that is presented.
If done right performance reviews can be the best tool for developing an
employee’s career with a company.

16. Social/Historical context :
The book emphasizes the values of spirituality, faith,
hope and love through symbolic narration of a
fascinating story of an ordinary boy with extra-ordinary
beliefs. it teaches it’s readers, in a very subtle and
effective way the power of positivity. Also, the dessert
locations that the book encompasses lend a greater
mystique to the plot.

17. My thoughts :
One thing according to me, that the World definitely needs the most now is
positivity. I am glad that this book is a bestseller because it brings positivity into
the readers.
The book says that “to realize one’s destiny is a person’s only real obligation”.
It just not ‘says’,
it makes you believe!

The Alchemist is not only philosophy.
It tells us that life is not about the consequences ,but about the journey.

conspires in helping you to achieve it”.
