2.  The internet is a global computer
network connecting computers
worldwide. Over 100 countries use the
internet worldwide connecting millions of
computers. It provides communication
and information facilities . Each
computer has a ‘host’ which can
choose what internet services to use.

3.  The IP address is four part number string
to show which certain network the
machine is connected to.
 The domain name translates host names
into IP addresses which is needed by
many internet programmes.
 They are linked because the domain
name translates the IP address into an
internet website e.g. - .com, .org etc

4.  Data packets are a basic unit of
communication over a digital
network. When the data is transmitted
, its broken down to similar networks of
data.
 Packet switching is a digital network
communications program. It groups
all types of transmitted data into
packets

5.  Routers decide where to send information from
one device to another.
 It makes sure it sends it to the correct address to
avoid it clogging the connection.
 A router is helpful for dealing with 2 separate
computer networks.
 Overall it has 3 main functions
 Packet switching
 Packet filtering
 Packet forwarding
