The results of a survey asking 60 plus Creative Technologists what they are working on, how they are working and how well others understand what they are working on.
2. Experience Design might be the future of Creative Technology - or, at least,
the future name of it.
AR, AI/Machine Learning and Instillations are what Creative Technologists
want to work on - and, fortunately, what they predict they’ll be working on
in the future.
From kickoffs to presentations, Creative Technology has become an
integral part of client-facing processes.
For those working with Creative Technology, the likelihood to switch jobs
has decreased while the understanding of the field is up - perhaps there’s a
relationship there?

6. “More companies are getting used to having Creative
Technologists around and learning their value, as
opposed to a small team of tech folks off in the corner.
The ‘first wave’ creative techs themselves are also
becoming more senior and more experienced, and
often learning that they have a lot to contribute to
these broader discussions.”

11. “Nowadays in the web industry UI/UX knows the tech
limit of the web, in the film industry the Directors
know how to shoot what has never been done before,
but in the event and retail industry there is no culture
of cutting edge experience - so the CTs were the only
one able to offer that for the physical world.
And that's probably why the Creative Technologist title
is less and less visible, and former CTs now present
themselves as Experience Designers or Experience
Directors.”

15. “I think the understanding can be attributed to
industry professionals having more and more past
success in working with creative technology, as
well as many new academic programs around
creative technology opening up.
NYU ITP has been around for a while, but I've also
noticed Miami Ad School and other advertising
specific programs opening up specializations for
Creative Tech, which I think is great.”
