2. Deep breathing
• Deep breathing helps to expand the lung.
• Forces an improved distribution of the air into
all sections of the lungs.
• The patient either sits in a chair or sits upright
in bed before the exercise.

3. PROCEDURE OF DEEP BREATHING

17. COUGHING
• It includes gently or making short grunting
noises with the mouth slightly open which help
to loosen the mucus.
• Do this periodically throughout the procedure.
• Patients sit upright position and inhale deeply
through the nose.
• Then they exhale in short puffs or coughs.
• This procedure to be done repeatedly several
times.
